GREAT bar in downtown Roanoke! Such a fun, lively downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants. This bar has EXCELLENT burgers and a great selection of bottled beer along with four beers on tap. Everyone loved their food and drinks. I had a normal cheeseburger and fries and it was great. My husband had the Danny Laruso burger which had cream cheese and a jalapeño jelly on it. His was so good and I would get it next time. The bar is very small and tight, but has very unique and quirky décor. Super fun and I highly recommend!

I couldn’t tell you how the food is because the server completely ignored our table of four… And we were the only customers there! She gave us our menus and then sat at the bar chatting it up with some guy for about 20 minutes without bothering to take our order– so we walked out and she had the nerve to look annoyed when we handed her our menus and thanked her for her time. One star only because the description listed on the menu got my hopes up. #fail Sn: My group ended up walking down to Thelma’s and tipped our waitress $ 80 for being so friendly!

Anyone coming to Roanoke and also enjoys beer and/or burgers would be foolish to not visit Jack Browns! I travel from Houston to Roanoke once a month and try like heck to find time to come here. They have a very wide selection of craft beers in bottles and always 4 or so beers on tap. Their burgers are awesome. Last year I started to track my beers with hopes of achieving their 100 club. It comes with a really good experience of beers and you get a bowling shirt too! It is a hurdle for me since I live in Houston but I am trying!

Hipster/dive bar. Large selection of bottle beers and good burgers, if you can ever get a seat.

I hardly ever do reviews and I know it should do more. But, Jack Browns has some AMAZING burgers! They are a little small for the average eater but wow are hey good. I had the Danny Laruso which was on point. Try the fries with Shocker sauce, a little heat but tasty

We ate here on the way to a concert and enjoyed the burgers and the beers. It is a tiny dive bar in the best sense of the idea. I had the Chiflet burger and he had the Cowboy. It comes just a burger so the fries are extra on the side. We shared sweet fries. We liked the simple food and the beers and the location downtown. There is free parking on the weekends.

Really, really great spot; a gem in otherwise unremarkable Roanoke. The burger topping options are great; innovative combinations, great sweet potato fries. Good beer selection. Quirky décor, friendly service. The fried oreos weren’t my favorite — they were not quite funnel cake-y enough… Each day of the week has a particular burger special. I’d recommend going on a Thursday as the spinach and artichoke dip + fried onion burger was amazing.

Wanted a cool place for my adult son and I to have lunch and this was the perfect spot. Very cozy and fun décor, which included exposed brick and reclaimed wood. Probably not appropriate for young children or a large group. Limited menu for food, but that’s ok, if you are aware going in. Clever names, such as The Cowboy and Elvis. The burgers and fries were great. Service was friendly. Parking could be a challenge; public parking nearby. Enjoyed ourselves and would definitely visit again!

Hamburgers cooked just the way I like them. The Jalapeño Popper burger is so good, I’ve never ordered another kind. Great beer selection. Great fries. Not much seating, though, so it’s a struggle sometimes to get seated.

Want a great beer selection with some awesome burgers in Roanoke? This is the place! Evenings can be a bit tough for finding room at a table because this place is quite popular among the locals and visitors alike. Definitely a place to check out while in town.

I want to start off by saying; this place is phenomenal. Worth the stop whether you are hungry or thirsty. Wonderful beer selection. I recommend getting in the beer club. On to the food. One of the best burgers I have had the delight to try. Everything is wonderful, down to the grade of meat and quality of toppings. I would recommend to the weary traveler in us all. Service is impeccable. Wonderful bar staff and cook crew. 5 out of 5 hands down — Montana

If you’re looking for a top notch beer joint with food you’ll be back for again you’ve got it. 100+ beers with rotating selections that for the area is as good as it gets as well as regular tap takeovers that are great chances to get to know various breweries better. The beer is what it’s all about here but the food is GREAT. The few specialty burgers are perfect every time, the fries are excellent, and you really can’t beat the prices for how happy you’ll be.

An excellent cozy beer and burger joint If you want a beer and burger this is the place to go. Good prices and friendly staff. The place is small and gets crowded. I was there on a Monday night and still most seats were taken. Got the Elvis burger. While it had peanut butter there was no banana but there was maplewood bacon. The sweet potato fries are an option over regular fries, while good the were slightly over cooked. An extensive beer list and knowledgable staff on the selections. The Elvis burger should have a banana, just saying.

I discovered this restaurant late one night as I was desperately searching for a place that was still serving dinner. I’d gone to a nearby BBQ place and learned that, this late, their menu was much reduced. They suggested I round the corner and check out Jack Brown’s. I’m so glad I did. The service was friendly, the drinks were good, and the Shocker. Oh let me regale you with a description of the Shocker. I really like spicy foods. They add a little zing and thrill to life. But some places don’t get it. They’ll claim that an item is spicy and then serve you some weak, measly, mamby, pamby item. If you tell me you’re going to hit me in the mouth… then bloody well hit me in the mouth. Half way through this burger I was frantically waving down the waitress begging for a water and grinning like an idiot as my tongue was being gently seared. I respect a place that treats me like that. I enjoy a place that treats me like that. So where do you guess I went for dinner the next night?

Yum! The burger was good as hell! The sweet potato fries rocked. We ordered two fries at separate times and they came out hot and fresh each time. The special sauce is super yummy too. Tastes like thousand island dressing. The atmosphere is cool too, Brooklyn meets the rockin’ south. It’s small inside and they have bottle cap tables with rustic random industrial décor pieces. The service was very nice.
