(note to the first reviewer, chow mein is the dish with veggies and white sauce. he must’ve been thinking of lo-mein, which are the spaghetti noodles — reference: standard take-out lingo everywhere) There aren’t many food options in the Pasadena area(it’s either take-out or fast-food — seeing how I would rather eat food with a few ingredients I can identify as opposed to a McChicken with 304 unknown ingredients, I tend to go with take-out) — I have yet to try the italian around here, but i may have to save that for another day. Okay, now that that’s settled. My choice in take out is down to probably 7 options in the pasadena area, which is a little ridiculous for just one line of food. The options are number one, lucky house, chopstix, king chef, another one across the street from king chef that has been closed down, one down the road on mountain road towards food lion, and the list goes on. From there, I have tried 4 out of the 7, and king chef is one I frequent most partly because I find their food more consistent. There’s nothing about their food that wows me. I just find the owners to try to put out decent food. The chicken in their general tso’s isn’t the best, but their sauce is pretty good. And their wonton soup meets my standard of a wonton soup. Update: I lowered the rating at this place because when I ordered their Chicken Chow Fun — these are suppose to be flat noodles — I got globs of floured noodles. This is most likely due to it being stored in the freezer and not being defrosted all the way before cooking. My suggestion would be to discontinue that dish for the night, or get a fresh pack of chow fun noodles the day or even the week of. Just don’t serve ‘chow fun’ noodles that don’t look like noodles. — their general tso’s this time hit the spot like previous times. I was okay with that.

I got an extensive menu at my door last week and we decided to check this place out on a Friday night. It’s located in a small strip mall next to a local watering hole, liquor store, nail shop and a Subway. I was a little weary going to eat here due to the location, but what the heck, this spot could be a gem!!! So we walk in and get greeted, I was unsure if we just sit down first or order at the counter. The décor/atmosphere was ehhh, lacking. They did have a fridge full of sodas that was decorated with Christmas wrapping paper ;) The tables/chairs they had were on the low budget look. To the Food — We all ordered the dinner specials which were $ 7.75 per plate and came with roast pork fried rice and eggroll Portion vs Price = 5 stars Taste = 2.5 Stars Service = 3 Stars My general Tso’ chicken was not as spicy as I thought it would be and it was on the salty side. Wife had the chow mein, but she was expecting noodles and no noodles. If you want a drink they only have bottled everything to include water Overall, this would be a place I would call for takeout or free delivery.
