Ruth’s Steakhouse

Since I try to go to local eateries, I tried this one for the second time, and once again the place is FILTHY dirty. The carpet is actually black behind the cashier stand and a layer of dust on the baseboards. So one can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.
I ordered the nightly special and shrimp basket and baked potato. The smothered steak was not tasty, the canned green beans mushy and fake mashed potatoes. UGhhh. I ate two bites of fried shrimp and threw the rest in the trash. The baked potato was good; however, the fake sour cream was ridiculous cost cutting item.
Please clean the place before someone gets sick… oh yeah that was my spouse last night after eating the smothered steak in brown goo gravy.
The waitress and staff are super friendly. thank goodness one plus for the place.

The name is misleading as it’s NOT what I consider a steakhouse. However, this is the BEST breakfast place around. It’s a little mom & pop restaurant with the same sweet ladies working every time we visit. They remember us and always talk to our kids. The home fries are delicious. My favorite is the huge ham & cheese omelet. I also love the French toast. This is always our go to breakfast restaurant. We love that it’s family owned. Only negative — there is only 1 bathroom and no baby changing station.
Highly recommend this place!

We come here every Sunday after church! The breakfast is very country! The way I like it. Biscuits and gravy primo yummy ! The service is always friendly and Down home ! Good coffee is a must Love this place

Good food. Service was a little slow but they were slammed so I don’t blame them. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken and my hubby had the ham steak. Good stuff!

Was there for breakfast around 10 on a Sunday morning. Took us much longer to get a table than originally told. Vey crowded and service was slow. Staff was very friendly and the food was good. Lots of locals, atmosphere what you would expect.

We used to go here all the time to eat, as the waitresses are so friendly. And we like the old fashion feeling. However the last couple of times we dined there, we had hair in the food. Not good. And they really need to clean the place up, windows, floors, and the outside. Usually people smoking and you walk through all that before going inside.

This place is great for homestyle dinners. Food is delicious and servers are very friendly. My wife had ground sirloin and it was delicious. I had country fried steak and my daughter had a cheeseburger. 18 choices for vegetables. We all left smiling.

Definitely not a steakhouse! Absolutely a mom & pop with a terrific staff of friendly waitresses.
Quick service, good coffee, hot food.
Home fries, edible but not outstanding. Eggs ordered soft-​scrambled, were too well done. Pancakes were fine, bacon well cooked.
All in all, about what you’d expect.

The interior is nothing to write home about but this is a classic down home type breakfast joint. The staff is always extremely friendly and the service is always quick.

If you’re looking for ambiance… this isn’t the place for you… however… If you’re looking for pretty good country food, its definitely worth a try.
I’ve been here once, stopped in after class to grab some lunch.
First off, the woman who helped me, went above and beyond. She was very friendly and very helpful.
Food didn’t take long to prepare, to go, about 10 – 15 mins.
The portions were pretty good… food was still nice and hot when I got home (I don’t live too far).
The fried green tomatoes were not as good as Fred’s, but so few places serve it, that it was a great treat regardless.
The catfish bites… sooooo good. Nice and tender, not over cooked… just right.
Mashed potatoes were good too.
Parking is ample. I’ve never been a fan of that plaza but it seems to work for them.
So, summing it up, good food, good service… why not?!
Give this little place a try for breakfast or lunch, I think you’ll be more pleased than not :)

Since our first visit to Ruth’s we have been there many times for breakfast and even once for lunch. Every b-​fast visit was very good and the more we go the more we’re learning not only their menu but what you can get that’s not on the menu. No frills here but consistent as all get out. We’ve never been disappointed at Ruth’s. Don’t see exactly what you crave on the menu? Just ask, I’m sure the kitchen can accommodate every request, yes it’s that kind of place.

Saw signs for this place a lot, but thought it was closed for some reason. Not in the nicest plaza around, so nothing we had investigated until hubby looked up reviews on Unilocal!
We were seated immediately and drink orders taken immediately. The place was clean, had plenty of seating but not too crowded so that you could hear what everyone else was saying. The waitresses were of the «mature» type and greeted you with a «Hi Honey» or «Hi Sweetie Darlin» ! I love that, kind of a throw back to better days.
Not being a huge breakfast fan, I ended up ordering corned beef hash, eggs, home fries and toast. They were even kind enough to add grilled onions to my home fries at no extra charge. Meals came out hot, no sitting around for this food! It was awesome! Loved every bite and when I say every bite I mean I ate every bite of that breakfast! And folks, I don’t have a single complaint. Oh, and prices were reasonable, and I always complain about the cost, but not this time!

The service is really good here. The restaurant itself is unremarkable on the inside, which lends to the feel of it being an independently-​owned business. We went for dinner and found the food to be good, but not fantastic. We want to return to try their breakfast menu, so I will update this review at that time.

Food here is great. Prices are even better with huge portions. The friend green tomatoes may be the best I have ever ate. Fried chicken is as good as any I have ever had.
Kids meals are dirt cheap with huge portions which is great for 12 year olds you are to cheap to feed off of the adult menu because they still don’t finish it but the kids menu is not enough and they end up eating part of yours.

Ruth’s is a clean, casual, decent, affordable, local mom & pop restaurant serving typical southern style food. It is located in the Riverview plaza on us hwy 301 in Riverview, Fl. across the street from the Veterans Hall, lots of easy parking to be had, even on a busy day!
This is not fine dining, its just darn good eat ‘in !! its not gourmet food by any means and it doesn’t claim to be, and the staff, they do they best they can, sometimes short handed, sometimes not, it just depends, this is not fast food either with a drive in window, that’s down the road a bit, if that’s what u r look-​in for! come here to relax, talk to someone you have never met in ur life, or read the paper, and have a bit to eat ! its been in business for over 30 years and the owner are around, checking and cooking what u eat ! they have some very good meals, a choice of a couple soups, specials everyday, a wide range of items and prices on the menu, something for everyone! some southern classics, fried green tomatoes, all you can eat specials, served hot or cold, they plate comes out looking real nice and made to order! it holds about 75 or so, all tables, some for 2, 4 or the whole gang! big bathrooms, comfortable, clean, I have ate many a meal here and never got sick in my life! sometimes all 3 meals in a day!
it works for me, and if not, well you know where the other places are at, go for it !!
they can’t please everyone, but they sure do try! meals range in price from about $ 8 to $ 18 max. So that’s not high dollar today and portion are good, and the desserts are too! my glass is refilled and the coffee is good, they could have half and half and not creamer, and they could have real butter not the fake stuff with the oil in it, and maybe better quality jam and jelly too, but that’s life !! some people just look for misteaks!

Great place for a family breakfast! Reasonable prices, very friendly staff, good food. We went this morning because a friend recommended the biscuits and gravy, and I was not disappointed!

If the measuring stick of a steak house is a steak, then this is a spectacular place to go. Not expensive, courteous staff, small business (which we really like) and overall, a warm environment. We will DEFINITELY be coming back. Frequently.

We just moved away from Riverview and Ruth’s on Saturday morning is going to be missed dearly. Their breakfast is a great price, a true southern home cooking meal. We love their sausage gravy and biscuits. They have huge omelets and really good pancakes. The staff is beyond friendly and your second visit you are a regular and they already know who you are and how you take your coffee.

Fun place to meet the family for Sunday breakfast. Friendly staff and good food. Good prices, but not fancy.

Eh. This place is a total dive. It doesn’t even have the hole in the wall charm you’d want to expect. The cook kept popping out to give us the stink eye the waitress and our surrounding populous gave us the un-​welcomed feeling. I can see why prices are inexpensive, its the only way for them to stay competitive. I felt so gross during the whole experience. Food was basic. Anyone who eats here would be better off making it themselves!
