The food is OFFTHECHAIN!!! Tonight was our first time at the Sunset Market in Oceanside and I got the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich for my husband. I was so impressed with the friendliness of the people working the booth, and even more pleased with the quality of the food. We WILL be back, and I’d like to get some of those fried plantains that I saw on their menu online too!

Found the truck at the Planes of Fame Airshow. The smoke was amazing first thing in the morning. Came back for lunch. I could not resist ordering the brisket sandwich as brisket is always my go to when it comes to trying a new bbq. Brisket more than any other meat takes the most skill, and will tell you if the person preparing your bbq knows what they are doing. The brisket was amazing, smoked to perfection. Tender, flavorful, and filled with the care of an expert smoker. I also took a gamble on the slap sumbody nachos which was comprised of chips, nacho sauce, pulled pork, bacon, and I held the jalapenos. Very good choice although way too much food for one person to eat. The pulled pork was tremendous, the blending of flavors was perfect. As far as sides go the beans were good but the mac n cheese was better.

How come I never noticed this place before?! All the other times I’ve rolled by the AAFES/Exchange I’ve only really paid attention to all the smoke comin’ from Big Dee’s BBQ. Then I noticed an upgraded trailer that looked all nice and shiny so I decided to take a look thinking they were an extension of Big Dee’s realizing that it was different. Then when I saw that it was Jamaican food, I was all in! The folks working there were really friendly, nice and attentive. I kinda got that Jamaican friendly vibe from them so my experience already started off on a good foot. Since I was in a rush to order before the Riverside Gate of March ARB gate closes at 1pm on drill weekends I needed to order my food and run. I’ve always enjoyed ordering Curry Goat from other Jamaican restaurants so I knew that would be good to order… and they only serve it Fri-Sun so gotta capitalize on that! The order came out to $ 13 which I thought was a tad overpriced but the flavors were spot on. The prices on the menu include taxes so ordering is REAL simple. They have a square card reader so they should take all forms of credit cards. Overall, the ordering is quick, the food is good and it’s close to where I work, so it’s an absolute win in my books! I love having more food options to choose from during my drill weekends and wish more restaurants would open up even though I know it can be kind of tough to get enough foot traffic. Hope they stick around!
