First of all, the new gas insert that All Brands put in to replace the old wood fireplace is beautiful and seems to work excellently. The tech named Ronnie, who came out to determine what needed to be done and then came out to do the job, was a really nice guy – enjoyed him. I thought the $ 4300+ price tag was a lot, but that is probably what companies charge for jobs like this. The reason for the four stars instead of five is because when Ronnie came back to install the stove, he told me that he didn’t notice at the first visit that the existing gas pipe was an inch too long and that he would have to cut it and re-thread it, so it would cost an additional $ 120. Then when he was done, the electric cord was just laying across the front of the stove and plugged into the wall. I asked him if he was going to wire it, and he said, «Well, we didn’t talk about that». I said that I didn’t know that there was anything to talk about because I assumed that he would just finish the job! He said that he would have to come back, and of course, that cost me an additional $ 200 on top of the $ 120 on top of the $ 4300. Am I happy with the insert? Yes. Do I think they could have handled it better without it seeming like I was being gouged to death? Yes.
