Great place to work and play. Beautiful village and caring staff in police & fire/​ems. PW clears snow in a timely manner and village hall staff is helpful with a smile. Watch for red light cameras and be mindful of the speed limit on Lake St! The Town Center has plenty of shopping and dining options but don’t park there & walk across Harlem to the Oak Park side or your vehicle will be towed by S&S towing according to Town Center posted signs.

They have a red light TRAP i’ve never seen before at Harlem and Lake. The left lane gets a green left turn arrow, but then the entire light goes red, not green like most other lights. I think it would have been acceptable if the left turn lane had its own separate light, but it did not. Watch out!

This review is based on the red light camera on the east bound lane at Harlem and North Ave.
If you slide through the intersection on black ice, or don’t make a 5 second stop and check for pedestrians, you’ll get a $ 100 ticket.
I tried to plead my case to the village attorney (the judge couldn’t make it in as it snowed that morning) and was found liable, along with the other 20 – 30 people that showed up to plead their case. If you want to go to Maywood for another chance, forget it, as it will cost you $ 82 to file an appeal. You’ll get it back if you win, but certainly not worth the risk.
They’ve earned over $ 400,000 off the camera. What a racket!
