Armstrong Zoom Cable Internet Service

I would never even give them one star if I didn’t have to to complete this review. I currently have Armstrong at my home. Tried to sign up for my business. Miserable experience. First of all, they give you no loyalty discount for keeping a residential and business account. Complete disregard. Secondly, where our business is located is literally on the border of their service area. Across the street literally is Comcast. There is a possibility we may have to relocate our business somewhere very close-​by for reasons out of our control. So, as you may imagine, I am very hesitant to sign a 3 year contract with them. If, however, we don’t relocate, I’m fine with keeping their service. I asked them if I relocate outside of their service area if I am responsible for the remainder of the contract. I never imagined they would say YES. But, they did. If you move out of their service area, they hold you responsible for the remainder of the contract which could be upward of $ 5000. I asked to speak to a manager and she wouldn’t come to the phone. Such horrible customer service. They were about as flat and apathetic as they could possibly have been. If I treated my customers like this, I’d be out of business yesterday. Lucky for them, they have a monopoly.

Data caps. Need I say more? Welcome back to 2003. In Rising Sun you are stuck with this company because our little town won’t allow anyone else to come in because they know Armstrong would immediately be out of business.
We use more data over a weekend, as a family of 4 who games, than we are allowed for the entire month. You get charged $ 10 for every 50GB you use over their incredibly low threshold of 200GB per month. Plus, as you approach your limit, they start hijacking your browser, rerouting you to a notification page forcing you to click to acknowledge your usage before you can return to what you were trying to do. Praying for Comcast, as bad as they are, to sneak in somehow. Please!!!

The cable company does not even get a «1» star. It’s a horrible company — a monopoly on the folks that must suffer from slow internet speeds, slow, expensive non-​competitive service. No competition to keep rates low. It’s too bad that the government has caused this problem in the first place. No other providers to keep this company «in-​check» and prices low. It’s a shame.

I don’t even know where to begin. Armstrong is absolutely horrible. I have to disagree and say that their customer service is actually very friendly and they do the best they can do. That’s where the praise ends.
Their service is HORRIBLE.
Internet is constantly so slow that dial-​up would beat it. There is constant jitter when doing ping test. We get ¹⁄₁₀^th of the speeds that we are paying for! They send technicians out and they say, «Rising Sun East is our problem area.»
You don’t say? I can only pray that they put themselves up for sale and real ISP like Comcast buys them out. Maybe then once and for all those of us in the rising sun east area can actually have reliable internet speeds!
As for the TV, it’s bad too. The picture quality is pretty bad! It gets better if you buy one of their HD boxes but not by much. Their channel line up is horrible as well. There are repeat channels and useless farm channels. Who in the hell wants to watch a show about milking cows? Not to mention, they are racist! They don’t even offer BET. Just saying.

Customer service at Armstrong Cable is the worst I have ever encountered in any business. Staff is completely apathetic to the needs of their customers. The level of concern and care is zero. No offers to get management involved to escalate the issue, nor any interest in customer satisfaction. However this business conducts dispatching service calls is laughable. Any time a call was made to get an update, no one could give an answer or eta. There’s no sense of urgency and no respect of customer’s personal time regarding scheduled appointments.
If I hadn’t heard the calls for myself, I would not believe a company was capable of such a culture of indifference to their customers.
After being without service for 4 days, and making several phone calls on the missed day of service, we were offered a $ 20 courtesy off our bill. I’m not sure how that’s a courtesy when that’s the amount of service we were without. How is not charging me for something I didn’t have, a «courtesy»?
Nonetheless, this was an absolutely horrible experience that failed on many levels of business management and customer service.
If you are considering service in Harford County, explore your options elsewhere. We are. There are several other options to consider for your internet and cable needs. Don’t spend your money here.
