My Garden Cafe

Had a great brunch with my son. Service was quick and the portions were great. I had the rib eye with eggs. Price was decent. It was my first time, but I will definitely go back. I hope the one in Modesto is as good!

I’ve always driven pay this place and just never cared to stop in. A friend of mine treated me to breakfast this morning and I have to say I was surprised and almost ashamed for not trying this place out before.
It’s super cute and cozy. Pretty large menu, nothing too extravagant but if you’re looking for a nice home town diner then you’ve found your place.
Prices are average diner prices and the food is good. Definitely want to come back for another late breakfast with friends.

My favorite place in town. I always get the country omelette with hash browns and toast. Every time I go there is a good amount of customers but I never have to wait that long. All the waitresses are so nice and really take care of you. I also usually get at least 2 cups of their coffee because it is SO good. Highly recommend for breakfast. I know they have lunch and dinner sometimes but I haven’t tried either yet but I’m sure they are great!

We went here for breakfast one Friday morning in October. We walked in and the girl at the counter just waved us to a table. She was very short with us and rude. Another couple came in right after us and she did the same thing. We picked a table and sat there for 10 minutes with nothing. The other couple had an attentive waitress and had their drinks and their order placed promptly. The rude girl finally came over to us and asked what we wanted to drink. I let her know that others had come in behind us and had already ordered and had their drinks. She said that is why she came over in a very rude and demeaning tone. We went ahead and placed our drink order and decided to leave. I have never been treated to poorly in a restaurant. Especially a hometown restaurant that many people rave about.

Had a great breakfast in my home town with a long time friend, what more can you ask for? Service was great, waffle was yummy and the potatoes were tender and crispy with lots of flavor. I look forward to coming back again when I’m back home!

Another great breakfast place! I like the omelets, breakfast burritos, country potatoes! And of course the homemade jam! Pepsi products!

Walked in for brunch with Ma and Pa recently and I would say that overall this place is not a bad choice for a quick, casual, diner style meal. Our server, Amber, was very nice and appropriately attentive. Décor is cutesy farmhouse and Formica. Clean tabletops and restrooms. Their booth boxes (where the seat pad sits on top of) need cleaning or recovering. No big deal, it’s a farming community so there’s gonna be some wear and tear.
1. Huevos Rancheros: I took a gamble on this one as this place is definitely not Mexican and many Mexican places can’t even do Mexican right. Overall tasty but, they do NOT use lard in their beans. Lard is the critical ingredient to make Frijoles delicious. An «approximation» of refried beans at best, I did not finish them.
2. BLT w/​Veggie Soup: Good portions with quality ingredients in the correct proportions made for a happy Mom. Can’t ask for more than that.
3. BLT w/​Egg and a HUGE Garden Salad. Again portion, ingredients, proportion were all on point so no complaints from Dad.
I did notice that they use Hunt’s Organic Ketchup instead of the usual crappy Heinz. Thank you for that! All in all, I’d say I’d be happy to come here again as they have a wide range of dishes to suit any mood and a competent (that day) cook who turned out some good dishes. Clean overall, the restaurant has plenty of little nick knacks on the walls to look at if the conversation is slowing. Only complaint is the lack of Lard in their beans. Embrace Lard, it’s not as bad for you as you think!

This place is great! small but it does the job right! I ordered a chicken skillet it was so good! the staff is friendly the moment you walk in, people don’t just stare at you like «who are they» they are actually very friendly, I will definitely be back!

Been here a couples times and have yet to be disappointed. Their servings Are the perfect size. The service was slightly slow but it was a busy morning, so it was understandable. Overall it was an awesome morning at My Garden Café!:)

We went today with my parents to celebrate my step Dad Ken’s B-​Day. I’ve eaten here once before and this time I decided to leave a review. The café specializes in breakfast but we decided to have lunch. Three of our party ordered the Deluxe Club and were not disappointed. It came with option of fries, homemade soup or salad. One person ordered taco salad and they enjoyed it. the Grilled Chicken Club that my sons girlfriend ordered also looked yummy but is served hot and I wanted a traditional triple decker club!.. We got there around 11:30 and they were pretty busy but we weren’t in a hurry. It’s not a fast food restaurant so don’t expect fast food. dDespite being busy the waitress was attentive and thorough. a couple things were not 100%, like my son got sour cream when he said «none» on his taco salad but it was easy to take off. We like to be courteous and I believe you get what you give… We brought a birthday cake with us and the waitress was nice enough to keep it refrigerated until we were ready for it; there was so much leftover that we gave three waitresses a piece too. The café is quaint and the portions are good. I ordered something I knew I’d like. Of course we’ll go back when we are in the area.

I have eaten breakfast at this Resturant many times. Good size portions for the price. Recently found a hair in my food, told the waitress & she took 2.00 off the price of the breakfast. Will not go back.

Best breakfast I’ve ever had! They serve a lot of food and the prices are great! The staff is friendly and helpful! My favorite place to eat in ripon!

I came in for early breakfast By myself.
I ordered eggs potatoes and toast. I asked them to make extra bell peppers and onions in the potatoes. (I asked if the peppers and onions were cooked in the potatoes because some places I’ve been to put them on top raw) she said that they cook the peppers and onions with the potatoes to make flavorful and assured me that’s how they would come. And they came they had absolutely no flavor and the chunks of peppers and onions were so huge and were all raw The only flavor the potatoes did have was that they were extremely salty.
I ordered eggs made with American cheese
She brought me eggs with cheddar cheese. The eggs were a little undercooked
And like kind of watery. And my toast was burned on one side and then the other side was way undercooked. So when I put my eggs on my toast to make a sandwich it was extremely soggy to where it was just too gross and I couldn’t eat it.
The girl took my order and she didn’t write anything down on her pad and when I asked for the special things like cheese on my eggs scrambled eggs and onions and bell peppers extra obviously cooked with my potatoes she didn’t write down anything. Then she went and verbally told the cook what I ordered and didn’t tell him anything I specified about the way I wanted MY food!
And the thing that made me mad was the waitress. She made no effort for me! The other waitress is the one who is really nice and actually checked up on me when I wasn’t even her customer. And when my eggs came and they were made wrong I told her and she didn’t even care. I said umm I wanted American cheese on my eggs not cheddar. And she responded saying I don’t think we have that. And was about to walk away. She didn’t care that my order was made wrong or that I was unsatisfied. I had to say Can you go find out Please!!! And very annoyed she went and asked then finally had them remade cuz of course they have American cheese!!!‘
Not sure why this girl was such a rude person or terrible at her job. I wish I could remember her name. But usually the food here is really good but on this visit the food and the service was terrible.

Three stars based on the service only. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. Good sized portions, and home style food. They just don’t have enough servers, and it took about a half hour to get our plates for a family of four. So expect to wait awhile. But if you have the time, the food and price is worth it… also the scrambled eggs come from a powder or liquid pre-​mix, just like most other places so make sure you ask for real eggs. Too bad businesses don’t realize that ppl can tell the difference. It’s the quality we all come back for and will pay anything for!

Best breakfast in ripon. Large portions and homey atmosphere. If you need a solid meal before you start your day then eat here.
They have the best homemade jam. I like their breakfast burrito — it is big enough for two people to eat.
Our service was great especially given that she was working 6+ tables.

Disgusting! Found a hair in my potatoes and was too grossed out to eat the rest of the meal. When we told the lady, she credited just $ 2 for the potatoes. Everything is covered in GREASE, even the omelets. The restaurant smells too, the floors and walls are filthy.

Unimpressive.
I ordered the Eggs Florentine which came out with the sauce looking lowkey like hardened melted cheese… like what? The poached eggs were overcooked and not runny… isn’t that point of a benedict? The potatoes were sliced in potato chip form and half were burned the other half not fully cooked? I don’t understand. I couldn’t even pick up the potatoes with my fork unless i scooped it as if I was using a spoon.

I give it an extra star only because it didn’t taste terrible. It was fine… or maybe my judgement is a little off because I was pretty hungry.
Maybe I’m just spoiled from the 4 – 5 star breakfast cafes in the bay but this definitely came up subpar. Not worth the 9.99
Also, I came during the day of a big event but my group of 10 came in with plenty of tables to spare yet they told us the long wait was because they had to cater to all the people coming from the event. Yes I guess… but a few tables that came after mine got their food before us! I guess I would have understood if maybe they were waiting to serve all our food at the same time, but that didn’t even happen.

Nice place for a hearty breakfast. Fast and friendly service. The food is good quality. An interesting setup. I especially ike the quotes on the walls.
Looking forward to visit this place again.

This weekend I decided to change up my breakfast routine and try a new diner. My boyfriend and I opted to go to the My Garden Café in Ripon after reading the Unilocal reviews. I’ll be honest the reviews on the biscuits and chocolate gravy is what swayed me.

The diner is cute and smells inviting. We were seated quickly and given time to look over the menu. I went for the Mediterranean Omelet with hash browns and (surprise) the biscuits with chocolate gravy. My boyfriend ordered the waffle combo. Our waitress was attentive and refilled our coffee regularly, although I wasn’t a big fan of the coffee. It was made correctly I just wasn’t fond of the flavor.

Our food came out relatively fast and was nice and hot, aside from the bacon. The Mediterranean Omelet was great tasting and nicely done. It did have an overly large amount of feta for me, although that wasn’t really an issue as I just scraped some of it out. However, I was disappointed in my hash browns. They were cooked together in one large clump, sort of like a clump of mashed potatoes fried on both sides. I ate about a third of them and decided I’d had enough.

What I was largely disappointed in was the biscuit with chocolate gravy. I’m not quite sure what I was expecting, but I didn’t like the overly sweet, generic chocolate pudding that was slopped on top of my biscuit. The biscuit itself was good with the right amount of fluff and butter, but I couldn’t get over the super sweet chocolate pudding on top.

My boyfriend’s waffle was okay, but nothing to write home about, and his bacon had the consistency of jerky and was cold. He ordered over medium eggs and got over easy, although honestly that is something a lot of restaurants have trouble with and nothing we usually fault them over.

The food is delicious homestyle comfort food, cute restaurant, and ask for Dottie the waitress! She is the best! She’s about the spunkiest old broad ever and an absolute delight!
