Vanilla Bean Frozen Custard & Treatery

Vanilla Bean has been our new go-​to place for dessert or a sweet snack since it opened about a year ago. Their frozen custard is on point — super creamy and rich but not too sweet. The standard flavors are vanilla and chocolate and each day they feature a special «Flavor of the Day,» often using seasonal favorites like fresh fruit in the summer and pumpkin in the fall. The build your own sundae option is super awesome, too. If I had one negative thing to say about this place, it would be that the service isn’t always consistent. Other than that, we love it here!

Very good Italian ice with a great mouth feel. The establishment is very nice overall. Menu is a bit busy, but they do have a lot to offer. I will be back to try the frozen custard!

This place is probably one the finest establishments I have been to. Customer service is 5 stars! There were about 6 employees in there yesterday and every single one of them greeted us and told us to have a nice day. The young girl that helped us was super friendly too. She was incredibly knowledgeable about every single product in the store and was willing to tell you about it. They were also very generous and willing to let you try their stuff. If a company is that willing to let you try their items, they really believe in their products! I feel that says A LOT about the place. I really can’t say enough about it though! The staff is just great!
Now on to the important stuff the food… Wow let me start off by saying I’m usually not an ice cream/​frozen custard fan, but WOW this custard sure made me a fan! The custard was very light and creamy! The taste was just so delicious no written description would do it justice! I tried a scoop and chocolate and vanilla, and honestly I probably couldn’t pick a favorite cause they were both delicious! The menu of this place is very large. I know you only have three custard flavors and one Italian ice flavor, but there are so many options (i.e. having it in a regular cone or waffle cone, making it a shake, having a sundae, also caramel apples, beautiful candy, and popcorn)! You could probably go there many times and try something new each time. If you haven’t tried this place, give it a try! You will be happy you did!

This business is a great place to fill your sweet cravings. You can get so much from here that will make your taste buds explode into awesomeness. You can get any shake flavors here, mix and match any flavors that match your feelings. There is also a variety of fudge flavors. Great service!!! If you live close and you have nothing to do come here for a sweet treat.

Great flavors, friendly staff, clean establishment. They have more than just custard, I ended up buying ¼ lb of angelica fudge, which was absolutely delicious! They have many other yummy dessert items as well.

I’m from St. Louis and really miss good concretes made with frozen custard (a tradition!). Some frozen custard has made it out West (Freddie’s chain) but this place has the real deal. Try the concrete with the waffle cone chips (delish!). The red velvet cake fudge was the best of the four samples we tried. But the concrete was the best!

I’ve been here a few times now and I really like the custard. I haven’t tried any of the specialty sundaes or anything because I’d rather just have the plain custard with minimal or no toppings. I also haven’t tried any of the fudge or truffles.
I wish there was more of a flavor selection available with the custard. They only have chocolate, vanilla, and a «flavor of the day». I went a few weeks ago when the flavor of the day was pistachio and it was delicious! I wish this was a staple on the menu. It would also be nice to add another «basic» flavor to the regular selection, like strawberry. Maybe if they do well, they will be able to add a few more favors, but until then, what they have is good. However, if I didn’t live very close by, I don’t know if it would be anything I’d go out of my way for.

The custard was just ok. Over priced. Custard at Freddie’s is much better. Their chocolates and other sweets did look good.

I love this place. Wonderful customer service and awesome desserts. The strawberry shortcake sundae was limited time but I wish it was permanent. It was so delicious. The custard was my first and I love it so much more than ice cream. Highly recommend trying it. The turtle sundae was delicious as well.

Awesome flavors for custard as well as gelato. The last time I had awesome gelato was when I was living overseas (Belgium). Also, the chocolates they have available are made with legit, Belgian chocolate so they have a very smooth texture and doesn’t taste as if it was made with vegetable oil (like Hersey). The staff make you feel very welcomed, they offer up suggestions and get you in & out in a very timely manner. Cost wise, it’s a little higher than some of the other sweet shops around here, but then again, you’re paying for quality. All in all, it’s a great place to hit up if you have a sweet tooth or even wanna get some amazing flavored popcorn :)

Definitely a five-​star for the product however, that young guy working there just wouldn’t shut up… so, a four-​star it is — Nothing like making the customer’s experience all about him… lol. That said, it’s definitely very good. Priced a little high for the single-​scoop serving but, still worth it. Somebody does need to real «Mr. Broadway» in a bit though — not all customers want to feel like they’re being held hostage whilst ordering a scoop of ice cream. :) —

I love this place! The treats are so good and the staff is friendly and helpful. My boys each got a scoop in a waffle bowl with two free toppings! Everything is fresh and wonderful. The décor is nice too!

We made this our last stop on a road trip to Albuquerque and it was probably one of the best parts. Between our group, we had bought two different kinds of popcorn, two different kinds of fudge and several different custard treats. The customer service was friendly, funny and helpful. Everything tasted great and was reasonably priced. We will be sure to stop by again next time we are in town.

The chocolate custard was very smooth and creamy. Good chocolate flavor. Flavored popcorn and assorted fudges are also available.

After years and pounds of frozen custard in Las Cruces, I was happy to find Vanilla Bean. The customer service was very friendly and helpful. The custard was fantastic. We sampled both the vanilla and chocolate and wound up settling on sharing a S’mores sundae. The size was a nice sane desert size for two people. The custard was smooth and creamy and the chocolate flavor stood out. The chocolate chips and graham pieces were just the right size to get some of everything in a bite.
I wound up going home with two bags of their popcorn. I would have loved to take some of the fudge or truffles but my nut allergy dissuaded me.
All in all it’s a mixed blessing to have tasty frozen custard so close to the house. My stomach will thank you but my scale may have other thoughts.

My boyfriend and I ordered the turtle and the brownie sundae. Each came with three scoops of custard, hot fudge, cashews on the brownie sundae, pecans and caramel on the turtle. Each sundae was topped with whipped cream and a cherry. We loved the custard. It was smooth, creamy, and rich. We got a combination of chocolate and vanilla custard. We were both very disappointed in the sundae «condiments.» For a place that has many scratchmade items, there is no excuse to not have scratchmade hot fudge and caramel sauce. I was sad to see Hershey’s syrup on my custard. To really step things up, the whipped cream could be made in-​house. My pecans were far too large to enjoy and they desperately needed to be toasted and/​or salted. My boyfriend said the brownie was ok but wasn’t great. Our experience was great because of the awesome customer service. The crew that were working tonight took pride in working here which speaks for itself. Looking forward to some minor improvements! Great place and we’ll definitely be back!
