Well I guess this business does not need clients? I have left several voicemails asking for a callback to schedule appointments and nothing. When I finally got a live person on the line, she was distracted and put me on hold for over 7 minutes. Stopped in figuring they were just busy — the receptionist talked to me with an attitude as I apparently interrupted her lunch and she had an entire conversation with food in her cheek. Between that and her eye rolls, I will take my service elsewhere. Not one bit like a spa setting.

From the outside, this place really does not look like a spa. Don’t judge a book by its cover! I had a very relaxing 60 minute Swedish massage followed by a 15 minute scalp massage. My therapist was Beth. The treatment was so wonderful and so relaxing. The treatment room was beautiful as well. Beth listened to me when I told her that I prefer very light pressure. The price wasn’t too bad either– it was about what I would expect to pay. I will definitely be going back when I can!

While the space is beautiful, the serenity was disturbed by very loud yelling and laughing from what turns out to be the neighboring business. We were greeted by an unsmiling(she never once smiled, not responded to questions with more than two words) sloppily dressed woman who made us wait at length while she went about completing a series of chores more important than starting our service on time. We purchased a groupon, then asked to pay tax on it(not standard practice) after a runaround with redemption. In the end, the massage was OK, the space was Beautiful and serene and clean, but the therapists and customer service were second-rate at best. Not what we expected. It’s too bad, as we get massage often.

What a pleasure! From the outside, Desert Beauty Day Spa looks a little boring and not upscale at all, but the second you walk in the door, it takes you to a relaxing, zen-like spa paradise, with upscale décor. I received a facial and foot massage and could not be more pleased. The technician, Angel was professional, informative and overall wonderful. She was easy to talk to, explained the products she used and explained the«state» of your skin. She also recommended things to do at home. She did sell me on one serum, but I’m happy I bought it since New Mexico is dry(no humidity) and the heat in our homes during the winter really dries out our skin, when we don’t even know it. The 60 minute treatment was relaxing. The massage tables are heated which is something I hadn’t experienced in prior massages. There were also lots of different lotions, serums, toners, exfoliators and a mask she used. What a pleasure. I would have liked to be offered tea or water prior to and after my treatment and that is why I am only giving 4 stars. The items were sitting out, but the water jug was empty. Overall great place, I’d go back hands down.

I had originally discovered this location because I bought a groupon. I probably would not have picked this location since its not really in my way of travel. Anyhow, the place is kind of tiny and décor is decent but prices are reasonable. Aside from the location and the spa itself — I will say that Jackie is great. I’ve been trying to visit once a month for a facial(although I’ve been slacking lately with the holidays). Jackie is very nice, professional, and is very helpful. She’s great at thinking out of the box with ideas to help with my skin. Its much appreciated. You rock Jackie!

I’ve been going to Desert Beauty for approx 3 years now. I am a regular purveyor of their«personal grooming» services(read waxing) & I think Angel is amazing. I also recently purchased a body polish for myself & an aloe wrap for my niece, both of which which were thoroughly enjoyed. The spa is clean, professional and relaxing & the entire staff has always been friendly & helpful. I would recommend Desert Beauty to everyone(and have)!

Well? What can I say… I was going to be visiting my sister in Albuquerque for Memorial weekend and we wanted to schedule massages for the visit! The woman who scheduled my appointment was extremely helpful & friendly. She went out of her way to accommodate and was quick to respond. I asked for details about what kind of massage they offered(being that I generally only like deep-tissue) and she said that they would customize the massage to my preferences when I got there and that Deep Tissue was a part of what they offered. Perfect ! The ladies at the front desk were pleasant and we spent no time waiting. Unfortunately that’s where the great part of the experience ended. Although the masseuse was very nice, I would be more inclined to call what she did a mild«rub-down» rather than a «massage.» Being someone who tends to schedule almost exclusively deep tissue massages, I explained that although the bony edges of my shoulders were a little sunburned, that she could basically massage everywhere around it(not that anyone should ever massage the shoulder bones themselves anyway). I also asked her to pay particular attention to my neck & back, as I have a lot of tension, and said that I would please like a deep tissue massage. She assured me that she would do just that and that she had a technique for doing deep tissue without causing any pain. Sounds good to me! Well, she started out with a lighter touch, which is fine, most people do, and then started to add pressure on my spine and asked if the pressure was ok. I said yes, expecting that she was on her way to really giving a good massage, but for some reason from that point forward, she«massaged» so lightly that at times I wasn’t even sure if she was touching me?! I did, finally, ask her to go «quite a bit stronger.» At that point she stopped«massaging» my back, had barely addressed my tension-filled neck, and proceeded to mildly rub-down my legs & arms. Then for the last 10 minutes or so just pretty much held my head in her hands??? Um What? I was really frustrated, so rather than let my emotions get out of control, i just tried to patiently wait for the end and didn’t say anything else, since she obviously was going to do whatever she felt like doing anyway. When she finally sent my head down, she said she would be waiting up front and that my sister would be done soon if she wasn’t already. She didn’t bring me water or say 2 words to me after that. And(fortunately) she wasn’t up front when I went out. I gave her a decent tip because it was a holiday. I’m not sure, but I don’t *think* it was personal or intentional(although I did wonder). All in all, I’m only giving the 2nd star because a) the receptionist was really accommodating and b) my sister’s massage wasn’t quite as bad as mine… But honestly, if you’re in Albuquerque, ESPECIALLY if you’re on vacation, just go Betty’s — they’re AMAZING !
