Hickory Hanks Bbq

We had a little bit of everything today. We picked up the family meal #1 and it was said to feed 4 – 8 people. This meal is a serious feast we had 8 and we have a fair amount of leftovers. The meal had hotlinks, ribs, chicken, and tritip. Everything was great I used a bit of the BBQ sauce to try it out but everything was great as is.
Baked beans were very good. Not your typical out of the can flavor you get elsewhere. Same goes for the potato salad and coleslaw were good too. Was not over powered by sweetness. This is the first time I have been able to finish more than just a bite of coleslaw.
I would recommend this place for anyone looking to please a group or on a day to treat yourself.
I’m looking forward to going again. This has replaced my other bbq place in Carmichael.

Some of the best fresh BBQ in town. Authentic and made to order. First had this catered at a wedding at Gibson Ranch. I was really impressed and couldn’t stop raving about the flavor then. Finally giving their location off Elkhorn boulevard a visit and it’s super convenient.
Parking is a breeze and there’s ton of it too. A few tables to sit and enjoy the country music playing. The guys working the window are helpful and friendly. Can’t miss the big sign with B-​A-​R-​B-​Q written on it neither lol. Try the hot links! The tri tip is killer too. Can’t forget the beans!

My husband and I shared a combo plate, it was phenomenal. More food than what either one of us could eat. The chicken was moist and tender; the ribs were fall of the bone tender; the Tri Tip was perfect, the pepper jack link was flavorful and juicy. For the holidays we had ordered a smoked turkey, we were not disappointed. We look forward to Hickory Hanks expanding their hours of operation beyond Fridays.

Hickory Hanks BBQ is second to none! I have been to a few events catered by Hank and I hope to attend a lot more. The ribs and hot links are my favorite but it’s hard not to rave about the tri tip too. I would recommend Hickory Hanks to anybody looking for outstanding BBQ and great catering/​customer service!

Wow! Wish there were more stars to add. This is one of those, want to pick up the phone mid bite and call to say thanks kinda places. Having driven by the BBQ sign at least a hundred times’ I was curious to see how it all worked. Only open Friday 11 – 8. How does one order how do you get in the fence… Lots of questions. Called the number on the sign the lady who answered (Carol I think) was so nice, took time to go over menu and made some great suggestions. Food was hot and ready when I got there… Place was clean everyone friendly… huge bag of food under $ 30. I had ½ chicken dinner with bbq beans and coleslaw. They were OMG beans… DELICIOUS…Best I’ve ever had. Garlic bread was perfect cole slaw crisp and fresh and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Did I mention the BBQ sauce? Wow wish they sold it by the bottle… I swear I had my phone in my hand ready to call at least three times soooo good. Husband had combo tri tip tender and melts in your mouth ribs meaty… other stuff in the box I can’t remember I think sausage and chicken and potatoes. Was pretty focused on mine. Do yourself a favor and try this place. It’s amazing! Can’t wait till next Friday

We had the pleasure of working with Hank for our wedding. He and his staff went above and beyond our expectations during the reception. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We recommend to anyone looking for good catered bbq.

I just got married on October 11^th and we used hank as our caterer. The food was amazing. We had the tri tip, chicken, baked bean, potato salad, mixed veggies for dinner and hot links as appetizers. Hands down the best wedding food I’ve ever had. The workers were super nice and very professional. I will definitely go back for other occasions.

My wife and I got married in August of 2007, we had our wedding catered by Hickory Hanks. The food was so good! My personal favorites are hot links and tri-​tip. Growing up I always imagined having BBQ at my wedding and this fit the bill. Both my wife and I and just about everyone at the wedding loved it.

I’ve always been on the search for GOOD smoked ribs, and have tried most of them around Sac. McQue’s on Power Inn at Elder Creek had been my favorite, but the quality sometimes lacked over the years. Everett and Jones closed the South Sac location a couple of years ago, but their original Oakland spot was by far the best back around 1979. I don’t EVEN want to hear about Texas Back Forty, Lucille’s Smokehouse, Dickey’s, House of Chicken and Ribs, or others because I finally got to try Barbeque Hank’s on Elder Creek in Rio Linda (
). They only have window service on Fridays, and getting a Social Club Card that offers discounts and specials is as easy as placing an order at the window and asking. You can call ahead for an order that will be ready for you to pick up. I bought a full rack of pork ribs this afternoon for about $ 23 which included extra sauce, and even a complimentary piece of their chocolate cake. The ribs are by far the BEST and meatiest that I’ve ever found, the smoke cooking is excellent and authentic, and their sauce is a little too sweet for my taste, but really not bad at all. I was also given a small portion of their brisket, and was offered one of their famous sausages if I wanted to wait. I was in a bit of a hurry, but not so much that I couldn’t wait to take a picture of the very generous and large rack, and to taste some with the sauce. This is the best Five Star BBQ place around for my money. But only available on Fridays unless you have them cater.

Hands down the most flavorful and delicious BBQ you can find anywhere out West. I’ve called on Hank for many special events over the past two decades and I’ve never been disappointed. His catering prices are way too low for what you get (shhh… don’t tell him I said that), and our attendees beg to bring him back each year.
Professional, super easy to work with, laid back but totally on top of it, did I mention the food is AMAZING, out of this world, melt-​in-​your-​mouth, AUTHENTIC BBQ? Plus, he wears these kind-​of adorable overalls (like a train conductor?) and has a really delightful personality to work with.
I would never work with another BBQ guy. A. Food is delicious B. He’s professional C. He’s super reasonably priced D. He can do any type of event, large or small, fancy or red-​neck.

Poor customer service. Called them and the person on the other line (presumably Hank) was not very professional and short.

Hickory Hanks BBQ was our wedding caterer in September (I’m a little late in reviewing). By far our best choice in wedding vendors. Affordable, delicious, easy to communicate with, on time, friendly… I could go on and on. The staff was amazing on the day of our wedding reception. I love how they cook right on site, so you can smell the amazing food you’re about to enjoy, and it was finished right on time. They even cleared and threw away our guests plates after they were done. I didn’t expect that or ask for it but was very pleasantly surprised (I was going to pay my cousin to do that, so didn’t have to). We will be happy to hire Hickory Hanks BBQ for our next party or event!

My daughter justed got married this last weekend and we had Hickory Hanks Bbq do the catering. Because the wedding was in a farm setting, we thought BBQ would be perfect food to serve. And it was! Hank really delivered! Our guests raved about the food and there was plenty for seconds, even thirds for those young men that have endless appetites! My family decided it was a toss up to which was the best bbq meat. Whether it was the chicken, tri-​tip, ribs, or hot links that were the best, well, the jury is out, because it was all delicious. Thank you Hank for making our wedding a great success!

My friend got married over the weekend and used Hickory Hanks to cater the reception. The food was seriously delicious, and I would love to eat their food again.
I usually don’t like potato salad, but I really liked theirs. I didn’t think it was dry at all, and I appreciated the slices of potato, rather than large chunks like most potato salads have.
The chicken was decent, but a little dry, so I had to slather on the bbq sauce to choke it down. I don’t like dry meat, at all.
The hot links were really flavorful. They put bbq sauce on them, which some people commented they thought was weird, but I thought it added to the flavor. There was just the right amount of spice too, not so spicy I couldn’t taste anything (I hate that!).
Now the tri-tip…that was phenomenal. Another friend of mine and I were sitting together, who normally doesn’t eat red meat, and even she was eating it! She couldn’t get enough. It was marinated perfectly and cooked to perfection. Nice and pink, very tender, and just melted in my mouth. I’m actually sort of sad i’m not eating it right now… Yum, yum!

I was planning on using Hank to cater our farm wedding. He invited us out for a tasting and the food was incredible: juicy chicken, perfect tri-​tip and amazing homemade sausage. Unfortunately my fiancé and I broke up and cancelled the wedding. Hank was very professional and empathetic and I would highly recommend his catering services!

I just had my graduation over the weekend and got my food catered through Hickory Hanks. All in all, GREAT BBQ! I liked the ribs and chicken the most. The potato Salad was a little dry and I found a whole pickle in it! Beans are pretty good and the set up was fast and easy. Only thing I didn’t like was the plates and utensils weren’t included. For the price, you would think they would include the little things like napkins, spoons, forks and plates. The man was on time and friendly with setting up. He was in and out in ten minutes. Great flavor as far as the meat goes and great that he delivers.

Hickory Hanks BBQ was the caterer for our wedding Bash in Folsom on March 23 2013. We had around 150 people and I heard how many loved Hanks BBQ. We let our guest eat first while we were out taking pictures and by the time we had returned Hank had to go to another venue but the staff left did a wonderful job. The wedding party then ate and boy the food was so good, highly recommend Hickory Hanks for catering your BBQ Event.

Hickory Hanks BBQ was one of the food sponsors at a recent charity event for Sacramento Youth Symphony: Magic of Music. This was a food and wine event and I must say the Hickory Hanks was the rave of the evening. His tri-​tip was so delicious! It melted in your mouth and was seasoned to perfection.
I would highly recommend this company for catering and will use them for my outdoor parties just as soon as the weather gets warm.

Hickory Hanks BBQ was the caterer for our family reunion. We have them every year and this time we celebrated our wedding as well so we wanted something special. Hank did a superb job making our celebration a success. The BBQ was delicious — wonderful hickory ribs, tri-​tip, hot links and chicken! He even provided some veggie burgers for our vegetarians. The delivery was exactly on time and he delivered to Gault at my brother’s farm. They provided everything we needed including disposal serving utensils.
I was a little nervous using Hank because I never heard of him, never tried his food and did not have personal references. I relied on the one Unilocal review and the very professional dealings I had with Hank. I do have to admit that the fact that he is in my home town of Rio Linda helped seal the deal. I’m so glad I used his services. My guests were very happy.
