I heard many reviews about Ridgewood Day Spa, but because it has been around since the 90s, I thought I would give them a try. I went for a signature facial, and my technologist that day was very sweet and helpful in giving me tips on proper use of exfoliants and moisturizers. I was also undecided on whether to go for a massage, since I tend to be very ticklish– so I decided to go for a massage, and I’m glad I did! Very friendly masseuse, professional and did a thorough job. I did change masseuses several times, due to time conflicts– it’s been over 5 months since my initial experience, and Ridgewood Day Spa does not cease to disappoint, since I now come in for my weekly massage! Please give this place a try if you’re in Ridgewood one day! One last thing: like all aspects in life, it’s obvious that you need to come in ONTIME if you want the full 55 minutes of the facial or massage, since they do have other customers booked for their time slots, and would not be fair if they took extra time for a person who shows up late to their appointment. Keep up the awesome work!!!

Poor front desk experience. My wife and I scheduled a couples massage to cap off our 5th wedding anniversary. When their, we learned they scheduled us for single service(i.e. Not together). Mistakes happen. The reason I am commented has to do with their reaction. At no point did they seen sympathetic or took any action to remedy. Instead, they repeatedly pointed to their scheduling system as if I was not telling the truth. Kinda the opposite feeling than a spa service should shoot for.

Monumental disappointment. I was looking forward to my double massage facial appointment after a very long and demanding work week. To start, my appointments(although confirmed via email by the spa) were not found in the system. The proceeded to ask me whether I accidentally canceled them(I did not). That set the tone for the rest of the evening. My masseuse was exceptionally unfriendly. I felt rushed and unwelcomed. The room was cold(AC blasting right over my head full force) and I had to ask several times to make it warmer before I was given an extra blanket. They do not warm massage oil! Masseuse had uncut nails– disgusting! During facial I asked to skip extractions because of sensitive skin issues(and frankly I didn’t trust this place at that point), and major event planned the following day. The technologist proceeded to convince me and tell me that she never had a problem. We settled on no extractions. I asked her to please wash her hands because she just massaged my feet. Her response was that she just did(without leaving the room, water was not running inside the room) and she uses gloves anyway. I fell asleep during the steaming part of the procedure and almost jumped off the table when she sprayed cold water onto my face without letting me know what she was about to do. No «goodbye, have a great day, I hope you enjoyed your experience». She said«you are done» and left the room. $ 190 down the drain. I had gone to many spas in this country and abroad. I have never had such an experience. Stay away!

To start off I’m going to acknowledge the fact that I was 10min late for my facial. That being said. Not sure if you know the area but Ridgewood isn’t easy to find parking. Especially on the FIRST nice day of the year. I was going in for a facial with my newly pregnant BFF as a special treat. We arrived 10min late and they let us KNOW that we were late. Right off the bat my facial girl said she would have to shorten the facial because she had a client at 4pm. Mind you this place was empty when we walked in and when we walked out, but ok. I will say I enjoyed my facial, but the whole time the girl was trying to sell me product. She kept stopping to explain the product and talk about it. IF you come here for a service I would say at the very beginning ‘please save discussing products for the end of my service’. My friend didn’t even get ANY massage as is listed in the Signature Facial, she was rushed out even before her time was supposed to be up. I can say in total she probably got 35min and I probably got 40−45min of service and paid $ 95 as if we were there for 60min. Needless to say, I won’t be back. People are late sometimes but don’t punish your customers for it, there should be some leeway. Give us the option of returning another time for the facial or compensate us in the price. Or how about don’t spend ½ of my facial time hawking me products. It was our first and last time at this ‘spa’.

I was a little nervous about going here, since some other reviews were not so kind. I got an Amazon Local deal for a Facial and a massage for $ 79. So I figured– I’ll give it a shot. I’m glad I did. I will agree, that when you hear«day spa» you get an image and this may not necessarily fit that, but don’t miss out on a good place. First, my massage, I am sorry, but I don’t remember her name. It was a very good massage. The correct pressure for a relaxing massage. She found tensed areas adn worked them more and I really can not complain at all. Next the facial. Her name was Holly. When I first went in, she looked at my skin and talked about a peel. I thougth to myself– here it comes– here’s the sale pitch. When I told her that I was paranoid about glycolic peels, she said, ok– and that was it– no sales pitch at all. As for the facial– I have had more aromtic facials, but in reality, the reason I get facials is to get that«clean» feeling and that is exactly how I left the spa. If I had to say anything negative it would be trivial stuff– but here you go. 1– parking. You are in Ridgewood, parking is a pain in the butt! They do have their own parking spaces, but when I went they were full and the receptionist said there were onlly two other people in the spa. 2– the music was a bit loud for my taste– not at all blaring, but I prefer nature sounds like running water, crickets, rainstorm. This was music. –and that’s it– so as you can see– there really is NOTHING to complain about. In addition, I want to thank the receptionist again. Because the parking was full, I had to park in the metered space. I left a quarter with the receptionist and she actually went outside for me to add more time, since the meter only allowed 2 hours. Now that is customer service!!! I highly recommend this place. I gave it four stars instead of five because I do understand the concept of what you think of for a day spa.
