Stopped on the highway randomly when we grew hungry and chose this place due to other reviews. Small town, the décor not impressive, the service from a well intentioned teenager. But the FOOD! Steak fajitas with tender skirt streak, seasoned beautifully with peppers and onions still crisp but tender. I had chicken and steak tacos with a side of chopped cilantro and raw onions that converted me to chopped cilantro for life. The beans looked average but tasted good. The rice was simple but flavorful. If the service, décor and menu caught up with the food, it could be a 5.

Fantastic food — if you are just passing through, this is totally worth the stop. Best chimichanga I’ve tasted in a long long while, plus amazing fajitas. Prices very reasonable and food was fresh. A tiny little mom-Pop restaurant on the main st, we were able to find rv/truck parking on the street — south green street. Very worth the stop, will make an effort to come again next time through.

Excellent. A great break from the horrible end-of-spring break traffic. The fried tilapia was crisp and very tasty.

Great food! Everyone enjoyed their meal The salsa is homemade and has the best flavor! The portions are huge. Everyone took some home. The service was OK, it could have been better but the food made up for what it lacked. We will stop here again on our way through.

I used to live in San Antonio and I really miss good Tex-Mex. I thoroughly enjoyed the shredded beef chimichanga. Really good food!

We were driving down from NC from our Christmas Vacation and we wanted something good to eat, and we found the prefect place Taqueria Rocio. The food was excellent and the service beyond great. Thank you for serving us with a smile.

Travelers beware of this trap! We were driving from Florida to New York & we’re looking for a «quick stop» that wasn’t fast food, I thought tacos would be a perfect idea… I guess I was wrong considering this restaurant set us back an hour and we didn’t even get our food. This restaurant has some of the worst service I had ever witnessed. I ordered 4 tacos & chips/guacamole to go. I was told it should be 10 – 15 minutes, 15 minutes later I went inside to check & was told it will be ready«shortly», 15 minutes after that I went back to check & was told to grab my drinks that the food would be out in a second, another 10 minutes went by and the food wasn’t ready. I kept thinking the food was going to be ready any moment, so I stuck around. Needless to say after 45 minutes went by I decided to go inside and cancel my order. They did give me the drinks for free & a «sorry», which was nice. Normally I would assume they were busier than usual(even though the restaurant wasn’t full) however a family of 5 that walked in 15 minutes after I placed my order received their food 10 minutes before I cancelled my food. We ended up going down the street to KFC, not what we wanted, but we at least we received what we ordered.

Just had a tasty meal here thanks to the previous reviews. Holiday traffic south in I 95 has been brutally heavy, so pleased to join other travelers who also ventured into downtown Ridgeland. The homemade fresh salsa is served in a mini carafe type bottle. Guacamole was flavorful. The combination Fajitas were the best item and big enough for 2 people, but we also enjoyed the steak tacos and barbecue pork tacos. Our server was very friendly and gave good advice as we questioned what to order. Not sure when we will be in Ridgeland again, but if so we would definitely return.

Very tasty tacos! Well seasoned ground beef in soft corn tortillas. The beans and rice were pretty average and the mild salsa left something to be desired. But the tacos were delicious and filling and the service was good.

Stopped by this restaurant on the way back to Charleston. This was the best Mexican food I have ever had. The whole family ordered different items, and all was delicious. The staff could not have been nicer, and the bottled Cokes were a nice touch. If you ever find yourself near this place, try it.

I stopped by here on my way back to Florida and I was very pleased with the food! I ordered BBQ pork, pulled pork, and chicken tacos with a side of quacmole. The meat was very flavorful, plentiful, and tender. My boyfriend ordered steak tacos, and although I’m usually not a fan of steak tacos, I enjoyed these thoroughly! The steak was extremely tender. I would definitely reccomend stopping by this restaurant if you’re in the area.

Maybe the best fajitas I’ve ever had. This little gem sits just off i95 where good food is hard to find. I scouted the Unilocal reviews from about 50 miles north and it was worth the wait. Café con Leche and home made guacamole are also delicious here. Highly recommend.

This restaurant has the best tamale I have ever eaten in my entire life. The shrimp cocktail was out of this world. It’s a little unassuming place but you can tell everything is homemade. The service was outstanding. The refried beans were to die for.

This little authentic Mexican restaurant located so close off of 95 is a great little find. The food is very tasty and as good as any restaurant in Mexico. Everything was good from the salsa to the homemade tortillas to the shrimp ca marines a la diabla. We will be back when traveling thru again!

Who knew that the best Mexican restaurant could be found in the little town of Ridgeland, SC? Found totally by chance driving from SC back to FL, just off 95. I had the fried tacos(taquitos) and my husband had the chicken enchiladas. Both were great! Everything was authentic & homemade. I wish they would open up one in South Florida cuz I would be a regular customer of theirs. As we were leaving we were introduced to the family who came out from the kitchen to meet us. If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend you stop in to eat there & be sure to bring your appetite!

Great find for authentic Mexican food. If you are driving on 95, exit to downtown and you will be amazed at the homemade healthy choices and friendly owner/staff. Go past the chain restaurants to find a real gem. You will love it.
