Nicely decorated place. However prices are outrageous($ 4.15 for a butter croissant) and selections few. Also, despite the fact that there are many employees, they are not efficient and the line moves very slowly. Used to go there all the time, not anymore.

This is one of those place that you are scared to give a top review solely bc you don’t want other people to find out about it. 5 Stars. Amazing

Been awhile since I last reviewed this place. Still like going there. There are new baked goodies to choose from but, I miss the chocolate ganache cake that I used to get from there. I wish they would bring it back in their list of cakes. They have very friendly staff and I like the personalized service. The place underwent another renovation with the new owners and it is really very nice! Why 4 stars? While I understand it gets busy and nobody gets the chance to clean the tables or sweep the floor of crumbs, maybe someone should oversee it especially during rush hour. BUT, if you ask the staff to clean, they are on it ASAP. That’s why I always come back here because of the staff, the quality of the baked goodies and the nice cozy feel of a small town coffee shop…

Place is wonderful. When they have goods to sell I stopped in twice this week. One day at four, once at 12:30pm. No croissants, no cookies. No bread pudding I understand not wanting to over bake and have to throw out a lot of stuff. But it’s too bad(for me I guess) that even at lunchtime the cases are bare Previous owner had a good dejection even into the afternoon. Bummer. Because I like their baked goods

It stinks that I can never put as much passion into my positive reviews as I do my negative ones. I just have so much fun writing those, but Ross’ is so completely wonderful that there is no way this superlatively positive review will be able to do it justice. Basically, Ross’ made my baby. I’ve been eating there 2 – 3 times a week the whole pregnancy. It’s the only place in town whose food my baby craves, and it is also responsible for making me incredibly fat, so maybe I should remove a star… Nah, just kidding! I’m French, and this place measures up to the baguettes I remember going to get daily with my grandmother in St. Aubin-de-Locquenay. Okay, it’s not quite as good as that, but nothing in America is(no offense– the baguette and the croissant are the French forms par excellence). But it’s really close in both categories! As far as scones go, though, they are some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve had to limit myself to twice a week, or I would have ballooned in size even more, I’m sure. And their soup… It’s incredible. This summer they had a gazpacho on offer, and I also got a quart of that twice a week. For a while, I craved the grilled chicken sandwich with mango habanero jam, and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had.(Sorry, you can see what I mean. I just don’t come up with adjectives when I love something.) Piquant. That’s a good adjective to describe the taste. A perfect medley of flavors. Mouth orgasm. Just so good. I’ve always had a thing for the perfect mozzarella, basil, tomato sandwich. I used to live in Little Italy, across the street from the now-famous Torrisi’s, where I’d get this sandwich twice a week, and Ross’ is just as good. 100% so, no snobby French additions or detractions to that. They also have the best decaf coffee in town. I swore off coffee for my pregnancy, which you really don’t have to do, except this way I can still have my three cups a day without having to feel guilty. Starbucks is too bitter. Tazza’s is okay. Steve’s Bagels is very meh, but Ross’ decaf is legit good coffee. They didn’t have it for a week, because of some ordering issue, and I was surprised by how many other people were in there asking for it and upset not to be able to obtain it. What else? Oh, excellent hummus and veggie sandwich. Just everything is SO good. So fresh and fluffy(this for the bread) and yummy and… But I only let myself go there twice a week, so I’ll stop before I convince myself to make an additional trip this week!

With all the great reviews, I was expecting more. Asked for bold coffee and didn’t have it. Americano and muffin for $ 6.85 is pricey. Place was nice but not great.

Just moved to ridgefield and found this place tucked away off the street but right behind our new house. Along with a wine and cheese shop and an organic grocery store. Made my month. Baked goods are incredible. Coffee is a bit bitter for my taste but if you don’t drink it black I’m sure it’s terrific. People are friendly. Tables and chairs available. I am a lucky girl.

First of all, both the atmosphere and the pastry/bread selection are impeccable, but what really caught me by surprise on my first visit was how inventive the sandwich options are. I was VERY impressed by how delicious their original combinations are, and ended up coming back twice in the same week to try more items off the menu. On my second trip, I brought home a loaf of their sweet bread and have been enjoying it every morning since. I’m definitely looking forward to making a trip there a regular part of our Sunday mornings. If I had one small complaint, it would be the seating. It seems to be fairly busy both on weekends and weekdays, and most people have to either have to take out or wait several minutes for a spot. Oh, and try their jasmine pearl tea! You get enough for at least three cups, but I recommend sharing, as it’s steeped in a personal tea pot and can become burnt if it’s left sitting too long!

I used to love Ross’s but last time I went it seemed as though the quality went downhill. The latte I got seemed to have sour milk and although I asked for another one, the second seemed the same. I will definitely give them another try because I used to love the coffee and breads here!

The homemade bread is awesome! They have monkey bread that is soo good & cookies, cakes and homemade pastries. The best bread is Sweet Earth! They sell out of that everyday! Yum!

I don’t live in the area, but whenever I come home(for 3 days or 3 weeks), I have to go to Ross’ Bread! Great coffee and tea, delicious sandwiches(I recommend the smoked salmon one offered on the weekend), and amazing pastries. Definitely try their monkey bread. THEN, there’s the bread. Super yummy and fresh tasting. Awesome staff and the owners are really passionate about bread(my kind of people).

Great bread and goodies. I would give it a 5 star rating if the service was not slow. New ownership and it appears their variety of danish has diminished. Hmmmmmm.

Was going to eat at another Ridgefield lunch spot but found myself here instead. They would be 5 stars if I got a little more bang for my buck because the sandwich was delicious. Grilled chicken w/jack cheese & a pepper jam spread, panini style was full of flavor, but with no other toppings & no chips/fruit included with it, $ 8 bucks was a little much. That is why I give them 4 stars because of the price/amount of food disconnect. Although, being a Ridgefield lunch spot, the price didn’t really surprise me, I wish there was a little more to the sandwich. The menu is varied with plenty of different food choices & has a bunch of coffees, teas & pastries too. The inside was cute; very small, coffee shop feel & the service was fine. I like to patronize these places vs Subway/Blimpies because these are the places that use better ingredients & employ local people. Don’t pass by this place if you’re from the area. Give them a shot & taste for yourself!

I don’t mind paying extra for excellent quality, which Ross’ offers. The coffee, breads, and sandwiches are truly to due for. I had an egg sandwich on ciabatta… doesn’t sound very exciting, right? Oh… it was. The bread was fresh and flavorful, the cheese and spread on the roll were delicious. I even went back a second time JUST to make sure it was really as good as I had remembered… and it was. I’m not a huge fan of spending time in locations where every car in the lot is worth over 50k, but in this case, I’ll make an exception.

Best Bread in town. In fact, in the area. Certain breads are baked every day(examples include baguettes, Ciabatta, Sourdough, Multigrain, etc.); others are only baked on certain days of the week(e.g. Caraway Rye, Miche). All are good, high quality breads, all organic. Coffee is simply the best tasting coffee in town. Sandwiches are great, if a little pricey(but worth it). Staff will cheerfully switch breads for you, add extras or deal with special requests. Pastries and cookies(as well as croissants etc.) are all good, but it’s the bread that is king. And rightly so. Rounding it all off is the pleasant, cheerful staff who, if you go in often enough, will recognize you and remember your«usual».

Anything on fresh bread is grand and this location has a decent diversity of bread options and baked goods. The quality is above average, nothing daunting, and the sandwich selection was only barely improved over an average deli by the bread being fresh. Wouldn’t go there for much more than the bread to be honest. Decent options for tea and coffee as well for those inclined to stay and sit a bit.

Like I say in my profile, I give 5 stars to excellent taste, execution and am partial to organic and sustainable agriculture. Ross’s more than does it job, it excels at what bread, coffee, tea, condiments, service, knowledge and use of space. Breads are made from 100% organic flour, filtered water, excellent ingredients, and made fresh every day. At night they take any bread left over to the local food pantry, but don’t usually have a lot left. They have been busy since the day they opened. They know how to make coffee right! I’m really, really picky about coffee, and love their Americano’s, their cappucino’s, and even the regular coffee, all of which is fairtrade and organic and locally roasted. And it doesn’t stop at coffee, they have excellent condiments, which is a pet peeve of mine at most coffee houses. Here they serve local CT milk, organic agave, organic cane raw sugar, honey, and have unbleached napkins, the whole deal. But none of looks like a hippy place. It is nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, and has excellent wifi. I can’t say enough good things fast enough about this place, and wish we had one in my own town. If you are driving through, stop here. It’s a little hard to find – look for the entrance on rte 35 between the Talbot Store and the BP gas station. Look for Copps Hill Common’s sign and go straight in, turn left and park.

Ross’ Bread is a welcome addition to town with its excellent breads. I can recommend the baguette, sourdough and ciabatta. The coffee is Counter Culture roasted, and they are one of the few places in town that knows how to microfoam milk for a proper latte or(wet) cappuccino. Bread prices are good, but the sandwiches may be slightly pricey at $ 6.50−8. They are worth it, though, especially the special sandwiches made in collaboration with the cheese shop next door. My only nit is that the croissants aren’t flaky enough for me, otherwise everything that I’ve tasted has been great.
