Cedar Tree Christian Classical School

My daughter has been going to Cedar Tree since 2015 and started later in the school year than the other children. She absolutely loves her class and says her teacher is the best teacher she has ever had. Of course, I had to share this with the school. Her writing and reading have increased exponentially. She has slightly more homework than her last school, and it requires a parent to be involved in the home learning process.
They use classical education versus CORE or Beka, which is far more advanced, demanding, and structured. Grades are broken down into Pre-​Grammar, Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. My daughter is in the pre-​grammar stage. Then in 3^rd grade she will enter Grammar. 5^th, she will enter Logic, and I believe Rhetoric begins in 9^th. Grades are broken down into stages. It seems difficult at first, but when you understand how it works, you will marvel. They begin Latin in 3^rd and end in 8^th I believe. Then they will touch on Greek in high school. They study the classics and will have strong presentation and debate skills by the time they depart for college. This is a K-​12 school. We have 5 children all together, 3 of which are attending this school. I cannot express enough what an honor and privilege it is to be a part of this community, much less the exceptional. actually more than exceptional education Cedar Tree offers. It’s curriculum is such that we were going to move to Oregon specifically for Classical Education, but fortunately found Cedar Tree in our back yard. Next is the aspect of the community, when combined with truly Christ centered education, has been a dream come true. The staff is as much interested in the heart and character of the student, as their exemplary academic success. When we first went to visit the school, we were already impressed with the curriculum. but what truly sold us in the long term investment of all of our kids attending this school was meeting the students. They were so respectful, articulate, capable of intrinsic conversation (even in the much earlier grades) they were confident, self assertive, self starting, interactive. and so much more… There is no such thing as a perfect school, but there is a such thing as a school perfect for a student and family that seeks the heart of God, and seeks to not only illuminate the character of God in a child, but help them discover who He has made them to be, and lead them to be the best at it by challenging them to grow in every area of their character.
