This place was excellent, very authentic and the prices were more than reasonable. Tasty salsa, too! My husband ordered the«monster» burrito — make sure you’re really hungry, this is a triple sized burrito(and absolutely delicious).

Old-time California-Mexican food here. We got the last open table for a late weekday lunch. The tostadas,(beef) tacos and chiles rellenos were good, as was the XX. Prices were fair and the service was great. We were most impressed by the tasty salsas. If I’m ever again in Ridgecrest, I would certainly come back for another meal.

The food was mind-blowing good. Finally found a terrific restaurant in Ridgecrest. Great, friendly service. Delicious salsa and chips. Amazingly good. Tremendous menu. Our new # 1 when we travel through here. You won’t be disappointed.

Great food at a great price! What else could one wish for? Well, maybe a bit of a more up-to-date interior. The place does not really look quite alluring. I went there on a cold Saturday evening, yet all tables were pretty much empty. Prompt service though.

Nice homey kind of place. Food was good. Not out of this world great, but satisfying and good sized portions. I ordered the Mexican Flags dish: 3 enchiladas, beans and rice. The chicken and meat enchiladas were good. The cheese one was so-so. I’ll be back again when I’m in town!

This is the real deal when it comes to Mexican food. Not since El Charro has Ridgecrest had Mexican food this good.

The lunch buffet price really can’t be beat in town! Olvera’s is also one of only two places to eat in «Downtown Ridgecrest»(seriously, not even an ice cream or coffee shop…). Food is good — big big portions for a good price.

Perhaps the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! Very well-prepared choice recipes from all over Mexico. My friend had the Camarones Veracruz($ 15.75), and I had the tamal /taco /chile relleno combination plate($ 9.75). The chile relleno, taco, and white-masa tamal sprinkled with cheese were delicious and the camarones were served in a tasty sauce of tender diced tomatoes and onions.

I don’t recommend this place for a quick service nor their buffet food. There’s better places in town. The service might be better during non lunch hours tho.

Absolutely excellent! Probably the best Mexican food I’ve had and I just got back from Mexico. I had the fish tacos, but like other reviewers, I knew it would be a good experience after having the chips and salsa which were way above average. Give this place a try and don’t let the outside of the restaurant stop you.

Amazing! Truly. I live in the Bay Area and I ordered the BBQ Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp. Maybe it’s because I was in the mountains eating goulash for a month prior. But it was absolutely fabulous. I didn’t speak the entire meal because I was so happy. Eat here. Lots.

Very delicious Mexican food! We will be coming back here for sure. The tamales were huge! The portion sizes served were wonderful for the price you pay. I enjoyed the Mexican Flag Enchiladas. The salsa tasted fresh. Our server was very good and attentive. We ended our meal with some Flan. Yummy!

Total hole in the wall, and quite literally in the middle of the desert. I probably wouldn’t drive out here just for this, but I’d consider it if I was within 50 miles. Ridgecrest surprisingly has a wide variety of restaurants. From French to Japanese, they have you covered. I guess that’s the benefit of a U.S. Naval base nearby. I was covered in dust from the days explorations, and not wanting to wonder about the dress code of some other restaurants, opted for Olvera’s. We walked in the front(which is actually the back) door. We were ushered into the front dining room, and promptly seated. The service was great. Chips and salsa were always full, and drinks topped off. And in the desert heat, you’ll need that. I ordered the Acapulco Chimichanga with shrimp. I misread the menu thinking it was similar to other Acapulco Chimi’s with shrimp, but it wasn’t. Even so, it was pretty good. Not greasy at all. It’s not blow your socks off awesome, but it rounds out my top 10. What really makes this place excel is the superb service. It’s friendly but not overly so. No Mariachi music blowing out your ear drums, but enough background music to make the place feel relaxed. If you’re in the area, check it out. If not for their superb air conditioner.

Love this place for the MORE than reasonable prices on great food! Just went for dinner a couple nights ago as we wanted a cheap but satisfying dinner that wasn’t ‘fast food’, per se. This place came to mind as just the solution. I ordered a grilled fish taco as well as a bean & cheese burrito. At $ 4 and $ 2.50 respectively I came out spending less than I would on my lunch hour. The grilled fish taco was especially good, with plentiful chunks of tender marinated Mahi dressed with cabbage slaw, tomato and salsa verde on double corn tortillas. The burrito was soft and delicious, covered in a red sauce and more than I could eat. Overall this place serves good quality freshly prepared Mexican dishes. My husband loves the chile relleno whichi is fried to order, not stored all day then heated up like some other places. The new area in the front is our favorite spot to sit as it’s away from the main dining room and the furnishings are nice and new. Great staff, always happy and very attentive.
