This a great date night restaurant. The oysters were fresh and plump and our diners were all good .(we have been three times). The bar is a great place to hang out and chef/owner is very creative and talented.

I wrote an honest yet negative review many months ago and Peacock’s Pantry deleted or tried to hide it. I thought it was my mistake but it shows up on my Unilocal page and apparently others have experienced the same. Thanks for trying to hide what your customers think rather than apply their suggestions! So here it is again: We found this restaurant for brunch based on its great reviews online. The food quality, service, and décor was excellent, but the portions of most of our meals were a disappointment. The french toast was amazing, but it and the burger seemed to be the only semi-full plates of food at our table of 8 people. For example: one of the menu items included«two biscuits,» which turned out to be the size of a quarter. I’m all for quality food and a good presentation, but you can’t leave your visitors hungry afterwards. Overall, the food was delicious, but the restaurant skimped on portions and left us very disappointed.

I have been wanting to try this place since I heard they had red velvet waffle. We went on a Sunday around 1pm and there was only one other table there. The décor was very true to the peacock theme. The service was good. The food was just average. The best part was the chocolate covered strawberry that came with the red velvet waffle. For the price, I say you can find a better brunch spot in the city.

boyfriend and i purchased a living social deal for brunch and we finally managed to go, on like the last day the coupon was valid. we had to wait for about 15 minutes to get in. this is because the brunch crowd was huge and also there were a lot of people trying to use the coupon at the last minute. when we finally got seated we were able to decide on our entrees quickly. the staff was working very well under pressure and they were clearly trying to get everything out as fast as they could, i even overheard them say that they had NEVER been that busy. a lot of dinners there seemed annoyed/angry with the service and the fact that they had to wait. boyfriend and i on the other hand didnt mind the wait, because we knew going into we would have to wait. the food: i immediately knew i wanted the red velvet waffle. boyfriend wanted the french toast but they were out so he ordered the same as me. it was heaven. it was a big, warm, fluffy, red velvet waffle with icing, strawberrys, powdered sugar, and whip cream. it also came with a dark chocolate covered strawberry, which was a nice touch. we both had a side of fruit and we were both very pleased with our meal. its deffinately a great place to check out for brunch, i can’t say that for dinner since i’ve never been, but i’m sure thats great too. also they do a really great job at sticking to the peacock theme. you can tell they really put effort into finding different peacock items to decorate the place with. the interior is really bright and welcoming.

Décor: Over the Top Staff: Over Bearing Drinks: Overpriced(& under-liquored) Food: again Overpriced(and in the case of the veggies, Overcooked. Overall: Under-impressed I’d love to return in 6 months and find the fake trees, «floral» arrangements, and wreaths gone(though I DID like the paintings), and the food, which wasn’t BAD, priced more in-line with what I’m getting.

The 3 star rating is pretty on point based on our experience. We went on a Saturday evening, early, and had the place to ourselves. The server was overtrained and overeager to the point of detracting from the meal rather than enhancing. Our food was«ok», honey-lime chicken and chicken with parmesan and garlic crust. Both were under-seasoned, as were the sides, and my partner enjoyed my chicken parm better than her honey-lime. Brussel sprouts not nearly as good as what we make at home weekly. We felt bad because a lot of time and money has been put into the establishment, down to the matching ties on all the front people, but we would not go back. We tried it based on a Living Social coupon and would have been upset to pay full price.

Hummm… cute place… though the booth we sat in must have been made for very very thin people… I think they wanted to squeeze in as many seats as possible(I don’t blame them, small place; but a larger person with big muscles would not have been able to fit into this booth at the end.) So…what you go for… the atmosphere is nice… boutique-french-like…cute. Now for the food… well, I had my eye on the french toast(had a Groupon and saw the picture) it was not what I expected… to start, it would have been better if they actually soaked the bread in the egg batter. The toast was kind of just that… toast, without the french. If it hadn’t been good bread it would have been worse, it was dry bread with berries and syrup(which I must compliment the syrup… not sweet… very fresh-tasting…nice!) If they had soaked the bread in egg batter longer, it would have been delightful. One more thing I must mention that I was disappointed with… the picture had whipped cream… my plate had none. Now, for my hubby’s dish… he’s a meat and egg kind of guy… he really likes bacon but they don’t have any sides… no sides? …so he settled for a frittata with mixed greens. It was very cheesy… tasty, I thought, though my hubby was missing bacon. They should add some optional sides. I would have liked an egg(side) with my dish. Ok, as far as the Groupon… I use them all the time, not sure what the these guys were thinking when they made the rule that the $ 30 has to be before tax, but this posed a problem. We were forced(if we wanted to use the Groupon) to buy something else to take home… I’ve used countless Groupons that did not have this stipulation, as well, it was not listed in their ‘fine print’. I did not want to give our server a hard time, as it wasn’t her fault; but I would have liked to challenge this… I really didn’t want to buy a dessert(at that, it was $ 8) and I’m sure when I re-heat it later, it will not be worth it… maybe eating it fresh would be best. I think they are disappointing a lot of folks with this… and they should have had it listed in the fine-print. Overall, we probably will not go back, unless we hear they have made some changes and gotten everything a little more ‘together’!!~ Sorry, Peacock’s Pantry – I hope this helps.

What a cute little place! The décor was appealing and the servers were very polite. My bf and I visited for Sunday brunch. We’ve had better mimosas; however, my oyster dish(which also came with petite biscuits) was tasty. I’m adding this to my brunch list. I’d be willing to return for lunch and dinner.

The food was very tasty. The entrée of beef tenderloin was the perfect portion and the crabcakes were flavorful. The place is beautifully decorated in rich jeweltone colors. It is cozy and comfortable and upscale. The small plate menu doesn’t have as many choices as the entrees but the lamb was delicious. We are planning to go back next week and try the other entrees and dessert. Its a little gem. I would love to see a website where the menu is listed. Hopefully that will be up soon. There was only 2 other couples in the place. It’s not lively. It’s great for an intimate evening. I hope that the word gets out and it will draw more people in. The atmosphere needs to be a bit less formal.

My friends and I found this place while looking for somewhere new to eat brunch at through open table. It seemed promising and was able to accommodate a larger party so we decided to try it. When we got there the place was near empty which should have clued us in to something being wrong because Richmond is a huge brunching town. Just to give you a perspective our group was made up of people in their mid to late 20’s and we all love a good restaurant. The atmosphere seemed to be trying too hard for a high class look which made us all feel a little out of place. Again we should have hightailed it out of there the moment we walked in. Then next was the menu. The brunch menu left a little to be desired but we all found something that seemed agreeable. I ordered the eggs and truffled toast and my boyfriend ordered something with biscuits in the title. Our food took forever despite being in an empty restaurant. The servers were at least nice and kept our glasses full when we needed. Then when we got it and I finally got mine all I could do was stare in disbelief. It was the tiniest pieces of toast that wouldn’t even make a 5 year old feel remotely full. I couldn’t believe this dish was over $ 10. Everyone else at least had a bit more food on their plate and I was pretty much done eating the moment I looked at mine. We all proceeded to make light of it and joked about there being another plate or that someone ate the majority of my dish. Then my boyfriend’s food, while there being a decent amount on his plate the biscuits were the size of nickels and there were only 3 or 4 on his plate. It was ridiculous. So not only did we feel completely uncomfortable and out of place in this restaurant but we also all left hungry and half of our group myself included ventured out to get something else to eat immediately after which is never a good thing. The food did have good flavor, but don’t expect good portions for the price.
