2.5? The pizza is really good. The people are ehh. If you order a water it comes warm with no ice. Soft drinks come in bottles. They also don’t do take out which is a bummer. Overall great pizza but everything else is lacking.

Unibroue on tap. Banana peppers on the pizza. No TVs blaring. Just a great public house.

I really like going to The Old Goat. The owner always greets us and is plesant. The inside is rustic and pleasnt. Their pizza is really good and go is their beer! I have been there 3 times and I have never had a problem. We sit back and relax and on Thursday’s and listen to open mic.

Great stop. As good a pie as you’ll find anywhere in Maine. We were in town this summer for a soccer game and made sure to swing by for an after game pizza and a brew– Kitchen was closed at 7:30?! In the summer? WTH?

We decided to make the trip to The Old Goat based all the good reviews, but found it to be quite different than we anticipated. Panini sandwiches on Wonder bread just doesn’t do much for me. What was inside the toasted white bread wasn’t very good either. Chicken tasted old and no seasoning. Others at my table ordered pizza and left the crust on their plates — something not right about that. Not much for atmosphere. We were brought to two tables by the bathrooms and near where they stack up all the empty boxes of beer. Speaking of the bathroom — not very clean Lighting was terrible, we used our cell phones to light up the menus. Soft drinks in tiny little bottles — what a waste. $ 6.75 for a plate of 12 small nacho chips with some toppings. I thought it was a joke when they came to the table. Rip off. Two stars instead of one for having Guinness on tap. However, a very small glass, probably half a pint. If you’re going to own a pub and you’re going to serve Guinness, put it in a Guinness pint-sized glass and charge what you need to charge. We won’t be back.

Had a great 1st time at the Old Goat last night… Awesome pizza, cold beer, great service and wonderful entertainment. Met the owner Scott and his beautiful daughter Miranda. The entertainment was a handsome young man named Trevor Johnson. Very nice voice with a good selection of songs. Great local bar, with very nice local clientele. Thankyou Old Goat for a wonderful evening.

Go to the goat! Great food and beer, friendly locals, lovely interior. The paninis are amazing — delicious and made with an abundance of great food. I had the Reubenator and its one of THE best reubens I’ve ever had. The varieties of beer was vast but not so overwhelm you don’t get lost in a mile long beer list, half of which you don’t know anyway. And even better than all that, the people there were friendlier than in most places I’ve been. We will absolutely go back!

Ugh I tried this place once and have refused to go back. I didn’t think the food was that great(I love nachos and the nachos I got were horrible) and the owner was the rudest person I have ever seen in a restaurant. I guess some people find his rude attitude and blunt comments funny, but for someone who isn’t a regular there he seemed like a crappy person. I will never go there and I always tell people about the experience I had there. Definitely a bummer because I like the idea of the place.

I came here during my Christmas vacation with my sister and her husband. I liked the atmosphere in there a lot. This old man was trying to see«if he still got it» and he sure did! He’s a fun old guy to have around. I’m not quite there just yet on appreciating a good IPA and the ones I had i could appreciate 1 good glass. I stuck with a good old Guinness the rest of the night and a very tasty pizza! I love a good pizza and I actually was craving to go back the next night and grab some more. Would I go back: Yes Ma’am! Grabbing a Jamesson shot with Scott was great! Givin’ me some Maine Lovin’

Whenever I am in Maine visiting the family, the Old Goat is the one stop I always make. Best pizza, best panini sandwiches and coldest beer«in the State of Maine» as my late grandfather used to say. You can’t go wrong stopping in for a pint at the Old Goat. Tell Scott that Roland sent ya… and that Georgie Banks said hello too!

We’ve been coming here for years. Since the«Old» Old Goat location. The Owner is an Old Goat and an Awesome guy. The food is mouth-watering. The panini’s are so creative. I’ve never had a panini here that I didn’t like. The pizza is great, like something out of NYC. The beer selection is Amazing. Try everything. The only downfall is that you need a bigger stomach.

Adela & Jude performed at the Old Goat in 2012, and it was great! The food is wonderful and creative — the owner is a great guy. It’s a colorful place in a awesome outdoor oriented town. A must stop if you are in the area!

I’ve passed by The Old Goat numerous times before; well, let me qualify that. Richmond is one of those Maine places that you have to make a point to pass through, instead of bypassing it via the interstate on travels north/south. The times when I’ve decided to slow down and take a leisurely drive along Route 24 and the Kennebec River, I’ve been tempted to stop, as the reviews of this pub in Richmond, a sleepy Maine community, have been stellar. It’s usually been too early, or when I had already eaten, or wasn’t in the mood to take the time to have a beer. Today, after doing some writing-related research at the Maine State Library, I opted to make my way home via the leisurely, cross-country route, and Richmond. Since I’m a free agent, not some corporate wage slave any longer, I’m free to have a beer with lunch, right? The Old Goat resides in what used to be an old bank, at least that’s the history lesson I received from Scott McIntire, owner, bartender, and the guy who took the time to chat me up over a few beers. Midday on a Wednesday was slow; another young couple, and two locals, and me. I felt right at home and Scott and I quickly got into conversation. The beers on tap are bountiful. I wet my whistle with a Smuttynose Old Brown Dog to start. The menu has a nice selection of choices, including a number of panini sandwiches – I think there are 10 or 11 of them. The one that caught my eye was called, «The Reubenator,» which you probably guessed, was a variation on the Reuben sandwich. You would be right! I love Reubens and it’s pretty hard to mess one up, although you’d be surprised – some places manage to. Not The Old Goat, however. In fact, their version of the classic Reuben is a cut above; it has pastrami, and their own house-prepared slaw. The dressing(Russian?) was tangy and really complimented a terrific sandwich. Their paninis all come with a pickle spear and chips. I’ve heard that The Old Goat has amazing pizza, supposedly with something like 28 different toppings, but I’ll save that review ’til my next visit. Scott told me that Friday nights are hopping and Saturday is also another busy time at The Old Goat. They also book entertainment on those nights; Thursday night is open mic night. I’ll be sure not to wait so long to visit again; you shouldn’t, either.

The Goat is one of Maine’s greatest bars tucked in the quiet community of Richmond. Is you are looking for blah blah conversation, the same beer and food you can get at most places then don’t stop by, but if you are looking for lively, frank conversation with everyday people, the best pizza in Maine and some great beers the The Goal is the place go.

Frankly I’m shocked that the Old Goat only has one review here. My only guess is that nobody wants to reveal the secret that the Old Goat is the«Jewel of the Kennebec.» As the previous reviewer noted the pub is in a converted 19th century bank. Complete with 15 foot ceilings, enormous south facing windows, and even a safe in the basement. Parties are held upstairs along with special events like stand up. Most likely, Scott the owner and operator of the bar will be there. If you get a chance, chat him up. They recently expanded the menu, so everyone should find something they like. They beer selection makes most bars, and certainly any in the area, hang their head in shame. If you want an authentic pub, then this is the place.
