The Barking Lot

This place is great! Very reliable and great customer service. That dog on the picture is so cute!

I was very impressed with how my 15 lb Lhasa-​Poo came out of her first experience here. We have another appt coming up and I’m excited for her to have such a great experience again. The staff knew how to make her comfortable, and noticed she hates having her front paws cut, so they stayed away from that and let us know. They kept us informed and she looks great!

This place is a butcher shop. I’ve never seen a worse haircut on a dog before. They must have given a 3 year old some clippers and scissors and let them go to work.
I couldn’t believe they would take a pure bred Havanese and shave her down to the skin in some spots due to a couple of mats. They clearly lack the patience or skill to deal with this breed. Our dog is well cared for and groomed daily and not at all matted as they claim now. Even in the voicemail they left they only noted two areas of significance.
Aside from this, the owner is condescending and rude and quite full of excuses and no accountability. We felt compelled to file a complaint with the BBB based on the poor job, lying and disrespectful comments to me and my wife. I’m appalled by the pathetic loser who thinks they are a real dog groomer. They are a poor excuse for a small business and I hope they close.
Lucky for us we happened to snap some pictures the day before of our dog that we will be submitting so users can judge for themselves. Scroll down and see a similar review from August, I wish I had. Beware this place!

I expected better service from this place after reading Unilocal reviews. They took shortcuts, shaving my pooch’s legs rather than spending time to take out a few mats. I will not take my dog there again. Critter Wash, also in the neighborhood, is highly superior.

Really bummed as I was hoping to find a great new local spot for our dog after getting fed up with Dogma’s month long waits (but otherwise positive experiences). I dropped our dog off around 8:30 am and was pretty shocked when they said he wouldn’t be ready until around 4:30 pm. I’ve taken our dog to several different grooming places and never had it take nearly that many hours. I decided to let it be since it’s a new place, but I got increasingly worried about leaving my dog crated up for that many hours as I left.
Then, beyond the barking lot’s control, the power went out around 4:00 pm, and I had to come pick up my dog before they had cut his hair. The power going out is clearly not their fault, but I felt horrible that my dog had been there for so many hours and didn’t even get his hair cut. They actually clipped parts before they lost power and then couldn’t continue; so, it looks pretty bad :(His hair is way too long for this summer heat and we were determined to get it cut before leaving town tomorrow. We’ve had to spend hours finding somewhere that can take him in last minute tomorrow morning to get this fixed as the barking lot was not able to do so.
My 3-​star review is not based on the power issue but the really long day at the groomer. Everyone seemed nice, and I’m sure they do a good job, but I think we’ll have to keep looking for a new spot that is more of a half day like the ones we’re used to. Wish this could have been our dog’s new grooming spot!

Steve has been great with our girls for over 15 years. They cater to each of our dogs grooming needs (allergies). When our lab mix was getting older (going blind and having hip problems), they went out of their way to help her. They would greet her and then let her walk slowly to the back while talking to her the entire time. We have never had any problems with The Barking Lot and they always work with us if we have to move our appointments. In fact, we have continued going here after we moved and it is worth the 30 minute drive each way.

I Love the barking lot, I take my cat there once a month to get her nails clipped. I can walk right in and they are usually done in about 2 minutes! I also take her every few months for a bath, which my cat hates but the barking lot does a great job putting her at ease. Im not very familiar with the cost of other groomers, and barking lot does feel a little pricey — but they do such a great job, its worth it.

Always friendly, give great cuts, and you never have to wait long for an appointment. It could probably use a face lift– the store isn’t super cute or fancy by any means– but if you can look past that, you’ll love The Barking Lot.
PS– I went to Dogma first and had the WORST experience. It’s the type of groomer who has had loyal customers for years on end, so they treat the new customers like crap! I will NEVER go back and certainly wouldn’t recommend Dogma to anyone, ever.

I love the Barking Lot! The staff was so friendly, they were very knowledgeable, helpful, and when I went to pick up my little man, he practically did not want to leave!
I have a stinky little beagle who I had previously taken to Petsmart for a bath (they were cheap and this was our first grooming experience with him). When he left there, he was still shedding like crazy and smelled like wet dog. I figured, eh, maybe that’s just what to expect?
The Barking Lot is a little pricier but I needed little man cleaned ASAP — and after calling around to many different places, they were able to accommodate me and squeeze him in the day of! When I dropped him off (literally 10 minutes after I’d spoken to them), I had a million questions about his skin, smell, ears, etc. They took care of everything; he is less itchy and irritated thanks to the oatmeal bath they recommended, and they also gave me some tips and guidance about some other issues he had. I also noticed that he was silky smooth — they did a great job brushing him out and I noticed a big different between the $ 20 deal I had at PetsMart versus the grooming with the Barking Lot.
We are big fans of the Barking Lot now and will be going back there from now on.

My poor dog has had a million bad hair cuts bc she is a mutt and people try to get creative. The Barking Lot is one of the
best cuts she has ever had! They were also really sweet, knowledgable, and accommodating. Will definitely be using them again

I get my german shepherd mix shaved down several times a year. I’ve taken him to several groomers here and back on the west coast. Tyler always seems happy when I drop him off and pick him up and he always looks and smells great! He can be a little sensitive and is definitely a mama’s boy and this is the first place where I’ve seen him willingly run into the back when I drop him off (instead of me having to walk him to the door). I’ve tried a few other places in the area and I’m definitely happiest with both the staff and the results I get at The Barking Lot.

Holly is the amazing!
My wife goes to Holly exclusively. She does an amazing job taking care of our dog. My wife is extremely particular on how our dog gets groomed and Holly is able to deliver each time.
My only recommendation is call a few days ahead because they get very busy.
