The family and I went on a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The hibachi grill area was packed with a 30 minute wait but you can still get hibachi dinner in front dining room. We were seated immediately and our waitress Cindy came overtake to take drink and appetizer order. Cindy was AWESOME the whole night keeping drinks full and always checking on us. The gyoza appetizer was very good and the 3 hibachi dinners everyone was very happy and the chicken bento box also was good. While we were there it looked like the restaurant was having some staffing issues but we had a great experience and will be going back.

Great food and excellent service. Our waiter Cindy is the most kind and patient person I met. We love her and will be back. Our sushi and main course hibachi all taste fresh and looked perfect to the smallest detail. My family and I are very pleased! Bring your family!!!

It was our first time here and the food was really good. We didn’t wait long at all to be seated and our food came fast when ordered. We will definitely be back.

A great variety of well prepared sushi by some very capable Sushi Chefs. An excellent variety of both Hot and Cold Sake. Superlative service and management and a fair price for Sushi. I’ll return.

We went here for a friend’s birthday. I had a great time — the drinks were good and strong and the food tasted amazing. The cook put on the standard show you would expect from hibachi and did it very well. The staff was attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full for the duration. Overall, I enjoyed myself!

The best you will ever have this place sat 500 yards in front of our home we are there so much they knew us by name. It’s the best sushi I’ve ever had melts in your mouth and the rest of the menu is out of sight as well.

We ate at the hibachi. Fortunately, we had a great group and a great chef. Our chef invited our son to go behind the hibachi and take a photo. Duc was very entertaining. He had us laughing the whole time. The food was excellent. My son generally has a hard time with chicken but the meat was so tender, he dug right in. We will definitely be coming back.

We had a very scary experience here on 10÷4÷15. We had a small Vietnamese fellow who identified himself as part owner cook for us at the Hibachi grill. This guy was very inappropriate with his conversation the whole time. He made my wife and myself very uncomfortable — we got up and left before we even started eating. He started with ordering my kids around telling them they better eat their food or else(one almost started crying), asking my wife if she kisses her husband and It ended when he asked one of my kids what flavor chicken they wanted, «Salmonella or Botulism.» For those who don’t know, these are bacteria that cause food poisoning. At one point he was screaming like a mad man(every one at the restaurant at this point started to become concerned). He was even throwing food across the room that hit a customer at another table across the restaurant(I think in the head) who was waiting to place her order. If this person is truly the owner like he says he is(I think it is so because he was ordering the other employees around like he had authority) I would avoid all of the Shogun Japanese restaurants in the Houston area. This guy needs counseling.

Tried twice. First time– Hibachi Waited more than 40 minutes for the performance starting. I ordered sushi for appetizer(tamago and salmon) which was awful taste. Their hibachi performance was poor(dropped vegetables on the floor for a couple times) and a bit boring. When he finished his performance, my 2.5 year old son was ready to go home(we sat an hour or longer already) so I asked to box all the food and ate at home. Bitter memory. Second time — Sushi No kid this time. I ordered sushi(nigiri) set and my friend ordered rolls. My sushi was ok, better than last time. Rolls were fine, also. Just as we expected. Our server was very nice but again, so slow! It was a weekday and not crowded at all, but I guess that’s their style.

Ok, so we have come back to this place a few times since our first experience. They are getting better. The service is much faster, the staff was always friendly, and the food is good. On our most recent visit, I felt like more staff was trying to make sure everything was taken care of. I like that. Things like, getting your drinks right away, refilling them quickly, taking away finished plates from the table, asking if everything is ok. It made us feel like we were being taken care of. That’s the type of service that we are looking for. We had the teriyaki chicken plate which comes with veggies, rice, shrimp and two very delicious sauces. I like sauce. I could drink those. It is a huge plate too. I also ordered the chicken crunch roll. I’m not sure if the menu says its wrapped in soybean paper or not but the last time i ordered this it had soybean paper. This time was seaweed. I don’t like seaweed. I didn’t enjoy this because i can’t with fishy flavors. It would be better with soybean paper. Maybe you have to request it. It’s very filling. I love beef negimaki and they had it on the menu but I was told they no longer serve it. This is very disappointing but not a deal breaker. Overall, I like that we have this option near our house. They just need to keep up the service and be consistent with the food and they should do well in this area.

It was a Monday, I know, but pretty sorry sushi. Not even so so good. Sushi may not look complicated, but it sure seems hard to get right. Fish quality was poor. Yellowtail was gray & fishy tasting. Rolls were bland. The only roll we had that was close to ok was a fried one with lots of sauces squirted over it. It is s pretty sorry state of affairs when cooked fish is the sushi high point. Service was not that great either. On the positive side(the only one) it is a beautiful place inside. Too bad the food is so poor. I can’t fathom how this can be a chain? It will not last unless they have a dramatic food turn around. If you want food before the movie, I suggest you get pizza at the theater. Even movie theater pizza is better.

Hands down the best sushi ever… Fried rice was not sticky but fresh. Everything was cooked to perfection. Hubby & I have found a new Japanese Grill! The place is really clean with a nice décor. The hibachi looks entertaining… Maybe we’ll try it with a group. They have large long tables for big groups too!

The food is great as I have been to another location before but when your habachi cook talks too much and says inappropriate things and asks everyone on the entire table information that is not their business you cannot enjoy your dinner. If I ever go back I would either sit at a regular table or if I ever get him again I’d walk out! My husband got quiet(as that’s not his personality) because he was so annoyed. Needless to say the habachi cook ruined our meal… After the habachi cook left everyone was asking what his problem was!!!

We came here as a celebration with the family. We ordered from the hibachi dinners. The following review is from my 12 year old son. Everything was amazing. The service was great. I ordered the steak and chicken dinner. The chef was funny as he cooked it. I liked the«basketball» game where I got to catch rice in my mouth. Entertaining and delicious. Highly recommend the hibachi dinner. Will be coming back to try the sushi.

I give this a 2 because ‘Man’, our waiter, was very attentive and helpful. It also didn’t hurt that he made our drinks doubles without charging. The sushi was ok. I ordered the crawfish roll and shaggy dog roll. I didn’t eat the crawfish roll because it did not taste good to me for some reason. Maybe used frozen tails? The shaggy dog was pretty good. My husband liked the food, but other than our waiter being knowledgeable about the menu and helpful, there are other sushi places I’d rather take my business(sushi hana or ninja cuisine nearby). Lastly, my husband’s chicken from the hibachi grill was raw. :(At least our waiter took it away after we pointed it out and brought us cooked chicken.

My friend and I dropped by this sushi restaurant because it was conveniently located next to the Palladium theater, and better yet, it was time for dinner after a movie. Upon entering, I was impressed by the luxurious wooded interior with a modernized Japanese décor to it. Service seemed friendly, though you could tell they are newly trained and slightly nervous. In a nutshell, I was satisfied with everything BUT the food — the main reason why you go to a restaurant. While the presentation of the sushi was great, I was deeply offended by the disproportionate meat/ingredient to rice ratio in the sushi. I ordered a caterpillar roll, and a crispy roll of some sort. What did I get? A whole bunch of «rice balls» where the meat and ingredients in the roll were virtually non-existent. When I took apart the sushi and unraveled it on my plate for analysis, it was all rice and microscopic piece of eel and tidbits of garnish. Seriously? Their sushi prices are just as many dollar signs as other decent sushi restaurants($ 7-$ 10 per roll), so there’s no excuse to be cutting corners like that. One thing I realized was their excessive use of sauces to cover up the true contents of the sushi. Whilst beautifully done, it could not trick my stomach — and boy did it feel violated. I got full WAY too quick, and was strangely unsatisfied because I felt I just ate a whole bunch of rice with the amount of sauce you get from squeezing that sauce bottle too hard. The last time I ate sushi with such a disproportionate amount of rice to meat/ingredient ratio was at a Chinese buffet, but that was a buffet and this is a SUSHI restaurant! With them skimping on the meat and ingredients, their sushi would be the diameter of a quarter if the rice was properly proportioned. To the owners of Shogun — I looked at the reviews of your other locations and they are a dismal 2.5 stars. I highly suggest you look at those reviews and respond to them. It would acknowledge that you actually care for the customers, whether they are wrong or not. And trust me, you will want a strong customer base in your favor to compete against the many other sushi restaurants in Houston. I look forward to your response as well!

This place is much bigger and nicer inside than it appears from the outside. I can’t wait to try one of the hibachi grill tables. We had a quick lunch, I had a chicken teriyaki dish that had a great sauce. I wasn’t a big fan of their fried rice but I’m kind of picky about my fried rice. My son had a large plate of sushi, I can’t recall what exactly it was but he really liked it. I would return here again. It’s great to have more options nearby.

This place served all of our food on top of one another and once the food was finally delivered it turned out to be crap. The staff and management was less than stellar to say the least. Never would recommend this place to anybody and wouldn’t spend a dollar again at this place. Worst service and food I’ve had in a while. Enter at your own risk!

We came for lunch and it was pretty quiet. They have two different areas hibachi or you can sit at a regular table. We wanted sushi so we sat in the main dining room. They have lunch specials and bento boxes. At first I thought the prices were a little high but once I saw the portions I knew why. One of the lunch combos came with soup/salad and 15 pieces of sushi. I think it was $ 11, great deal for all that food! I got the caterpillar roll and it was delicious. Beautiful interior and good food, give it a try!
