«DIY or Don’t Try!» Come on people, try to reuse and recycle. I’ve been told I have a «good eye» for design, but unfortunately, my budget doesn’t always match. Habitat helps me bridge the gap and solve that problem. Of course, I had heard about Habitat’s wonderful efforts to assist people in need, but I didn’t know until a few years ago, that they also have a store. Some businesses even donate brand new items, which they then sell in these stores for a fraction of the price. I have been to several of these stores across the country and this is one of the nicest. We are planning on renovating a bathroom and were looking for a remnant of granite, quartz or marble to use for the shower niche. Found the perfect piece for $ 10, approximately 6″ x 48″, which I’m hoping to make a few shelves. It even has a few sprinkles of something«sparkly», so exciting! I uploaded a pic of the remnant and will add a photo of the shower when the project is completed. Some helpful hints to navigate, bring a tape measure. There are actually coupons out there to be found. They do color code some items, so if you are willing to gamble that the item you want will still be there, they mark them down. Habitat stores can be difficult to locate. They go by the name of Restore. There is also an area outback, where you might find granite, bricks, etc. Check it out; it’s an adventure! You never know what you might discover! They accept donations of mostly building materials, but also furniture. They welcome volunteers and supporters!

The Restore is quite special. You just never know what you’ll find. If you’re a recent grad looking to furnish your first place, go to the Restore. If you’re in need of some new appliances for your house, go to the Restore. If you’re like me, and are just a girl in the world looking for some Harry Potter glasses, go to the Restore. If you follow them on Facebook, you’ll be hip to their newest arrivals. I’ve seen so many great things pop up on their page. From armoires to leather sofas to refrigerators. All in great shape at a cheap price. It doesn’t get any better than that! A few days ago they posted a photo of some Harry Potter glasses for $ 2 that made me do a double take. I wanted to buy some last year to wear while in Orlando, but never found any. And lo and behold, right as I’m preparing for my next trip in November, these glasses pop up on my screen and bless my life. Yes! And for $ 2?! Oh, I went in the next day. To my surprise, it wasn’t just one pair for $ 2… the entire box(which held 8 pair of glasses) was $ 2. I don’t know what I’m going to do with 7 extra pairs of glasses, but I feel like I’m winning. These will make appearances during Halloween and while I’m in Orlando. The reason why I gave them 3 stars is because to me, it’s just dirty in there. It’s a big warehouse with stuff that’s kinda-sorta organized. It’s definitely not your typical household shopping experience, but then again the prices aren’t your typical prices. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to check it out next time I move, though.

Boy oh boy is this a wonderful place! You will find all sorts of things here that you never imagined would be in this sort of thrift store. I found a brand spanking new solid wood above-the-fridge cabinet here to mount in my laundry room for like $ 40. It even happened to match my existing kitchen cabinets. How cool is that! They have everything here from lamps and lamp shades to chairs, cabinets, shelving, screws, nuts, and bolts to spray paint, chandeliers, house flags, and even wine stoppers galore. You will find door knobs and knick knacks of all kinds. I even scored a beautiful scroll-design black metal cake pedestal which I repurposed as a jewelry organizer for my earrings to hang from and my bracelets to rest on top of. I scored a lovely table lamp with a beaded fringe shade for like $ 12 too. One of the best finds for me, since I was not doing an actual home improvement project, was the ten cent seed packs. I keep seeds forever and have never had a problem with them working, and here you can find last season’s seeds for just $.10! You heard me, TEN cents! These are the regular brand name seed packs from the local home improvement store. You will find all types of herbs, along with your basic veggies, and many varieties used in Mexican cooking as well. I was overjoyed! Too bad I hadn’t visited before. Spray paint is also available in an array of colors for dirt cheap. If you’re in the area, drop by, check them out, and negotiate yourself a deal. You really can’t lose. Can’t wait to go back! If you have a smart eye for repurposing items, this is your mecca, begin your pilgrimage.

This place is awesome! I just bought a boshe dryer, in great condition, there today for under $ 100! I love to frequent this place bc no matter what the project I can almost always find what I’m looking for and if I can’t they will add me to their wishlist and call me if it comes in. The staff is always really helpful and friendly which makes shopping and donating at the ReStore something I will keep doing. It just makes you feel good that scoring a deal on shutters is also helping a family own a home.

If you blink, you might miss this place, as it’s a little off the beaten path, but as soon as you are here, it is truly a shopping experience like nothing else. It’s a giant space filled with hidden treasures in every corner, everything from decorative knick knacks to furniture, lamps, or even toilets! If you need something for a home project, trust me, its here. Its even fun just to go see what you can unearth, it seems like they get new things constantly. You never know what you are going to find. What could possibly make it better? Oh yea, your money goes towards a great cause, building houses for those in need… What’s not to love?

The ReStore is one of Richmond’s hidden gems. Once you visit the first time, you have to keep coming back at least once a month to check out what new finds they might have in stock. Brand new couches at half the price of regular retail stores? An antique coffee table? A gorgeous lighting fixture in need of a little TLC? You never know! Plus, they are the cheapest place in town to stock up on essiental home repair items(paint, lumber, etc). The staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful, and even when you come home with more than you anticipated buying, you can feel good knowing that the money you spent is going towards helping members of your community become homeowners. I highly reccomend checking it out if you are doing any sort of home repairs or decorating, or just love a great bargin!

I could see this place being useful if you were a local resident. I think this is the kind of place that you could drop by and just happen to find something. They had reasonable pricing, just nothing I was looking for that day. It was well organized and as clean as these types of places can be.

One of the coolest things about this salvage place is that the profits go to build Habitat houses in our city. I hunted all over town for some switch plate covers for my old house with no luck, until I discovered this store. Older houses have different sized double switch plates than what’s currently out there, so you almost have to get them at an architectural salvage place unless you want to recut all the holes. The same is true for interior doors, so this a good place to hunt for those as well.

Just like any store that offers below market value prices for really anything, Restore is the type of place that requires frequent visits and patience. My experiences here have been varied but I know many folks who have found the diamond in the rough many times. The big ticket items that a lot of my contractor friends have given the thumbs up on are doors and windows. This is also a great place to score a gallon of paint that was mixed incorrectly or never used. There is tons of old tile and I have lucked out and found matches for older tile in some homes I have renovated over the years, even unlikely colors. I have also found great deals on things like switches and switch plates, lighting(indoor and outdoor) and occasionally they have new furniture that has been scratched or dented at bargain prices. The location is hard to find but once you get a «find» while shopping, it will be on your«must do» list I have no doubt.

This place is definitely in a sketchy neighborhood, but you can find some real gems if you’re lookin… Basically anything contractors don’t need or are going to throw out, they bring here to be resold… so you can score some really interesting light fixtures, antique items from time to time, and occasionally even some newer furniture… all depends on what the contractors come across and need to get rid of… The good news is that you can definitely score some good stuff… The bad news is that they have a lot of junk… desks that are scratched up and beaten bad, dirty old toilets and sinks, doors that have seen better days… The common denominator is that it’s all salvage, but it runs the range in terms of quality from true trash to antique to diamond in the rough. Worth checking out if you are doing a DIY project, and checking back often and an opportunistic buying strategy is the best way to take advantage of the best items.
