Why go to a place that can’t do anything, even a quick press, in-​house when Première Cleaners is right up the street?

Best Cleaners in Richmond metro area. They do a fantastic job and employees are very friendly!

One star for the fact that the clothes were returned clean and the cashier did the best she could to help. Deducting all the rest of the stars for failure to deliver on their promise of 24-​hour turnaround time.
On Sunday, I found out we had to attend a family funeral out of state that Weds. On Monday, I called Puritan to ask if they could dry clean suit pants by the next day. They assured me they could. I brought the clothes in and asked AGAIN, are you certain these will be ready the next day? I was assured that they’d be ready on Tuesday after 5pm.
On Tuesday at 7pm, I show up to pick up the pants and am told that they aren’t ready. Not only are they not ready, but they aren’t even in the building, they are locked in the warehouse. No one of authority was answering their phone (as I said, the cashier felt terrible and tried to help). There was no way to get them back, either clean or dirty, before our 6am flight the next day (we offered to meet someone at the warehouse even). No one contacted us after, and no one besides the poor powerless cashier even seemed to care that they were making a terrible time that much more stressful.
Today in the mail, I saw a letter from Puritan. When I saw the envelope, I thought that perhaps someone had reached out to apologize for their failure to live up to what they promised. Instead it was a form letter thanking me for being a customer. Thanks, Puritan, for reminding me to write this review so that others don’t fall into the same misleading trap. Sorry you wasted your stamp as I won’t be a customer any longer.

While the service was excellent the prices are ridiculous and not listed anywhere on the web site so I had no idea the cost when I dropped them off. It cost me $ 27 to get a simple skirt and dress dry cleaned that I did not pay more than $ 75 for when I bought them from the store last year. I am very dissatisfied.

If I could give negative stars I would. I was told I would have my clothes within 24hrs of drop off. After a week (I had called during this time and been told my clothes were not ready) I received a call letting me know both of my blouses were lost. They offered to reimburse me if I went back to Nordstrom and purchased 2 new blouses and brought them the receipt. I did that (was not able to get the same shirts) and was told then that I had to wait for a check in the mail from corporate which was not clear during the prior call and $ 181 is a lot of money to be randomly out of pocket and waiting on. I asked them to rush my check, verified my home address, and had to request that I keep my Nordstrom receipt because they tried to take that from me instead of making a copy. Next I received another call letting me know my check had been mailed to the store, not my apartment, and that I needed to come pick it up. I live in church hill, they are not close, neither is Nordstrom. 3 trips to the cleaner, 2 blouses I loved that are gone, one really out of the way trip to Short Pump, and no real sense of concern or urgency with my situation. Yes I was able to get 2 blouses but I have wasted a lot of gas, effort, miles, and time on this cleaner because of their error and I am never coming back.

Although this Puritan location did a fine job with the clothes I brought in for dry cleaning, I would strongly advise against bringing anything in to be tailored or modified. I brought four pairs of slacks in with my dry cleaning a month or so ago — I needed the bottom hem let out on one and the other three needed buttons replaced. The young lady at the counter brushed the buttons request off by saying, «They’ll do that when they dry clean them.» and didn’t make any kind of note about the hem issue. Needless to say, none of my specific requests were fulfilled. I called the location as soon as I noticed it and received a friendly response and invitation to bring them back to have the work done.
I do admit my own carelessness in not doing a spot-​check before I left Puritan on the second pick-​up of these items (to which a good amount of additional dry cleaning was added), but that does’t take away from the astonishing lack of customer care on Puritan’s part to once again have dropped the ball on my tailoring requests. Although the buttons were added to the three aforementioned slacks as requested, the hem on the fourth remained untouched. This was reason enough for me to withdraw my business (from both this, as well as the Parham Rd., location).

A dry cleaner is a dry cleaner is a dry cleaner. Or is it?
After searching high and low for a dry cleaner to consistently provide me with great service and clean garments, I finally found Puritan Cleaners. Trust me when I say I experienced some sour apples along the way. From holes to smells to overly high prices to even having garments returned dirtier than when I dropped them off– I’ve experienced it all. Because of this, I learned long ago to never trust a favorite garment with a new cleaner.
On my first visit to Puritan, I was a bit skeptical. Not because of anything they did, but because of the horrors I had previously experienced at other cleaners. Being wary, I only relinquished a few not so precious items to see how the cleaning would measure up. I was pleasantly surprised when the items were returned to me in fabulous condition. Clean, pressed, and ready to wear!
Puritan has since gained my trust and I’ve never experienced any issues. I bring them my most loved items and never worry that anything will happen to them in my absence. Such a relief! It’s a little pricier than the cleaner I used in grad school (but that was in a different city, with a different cost of living so it’s not really fair to compare), but the items are always returned quickly and I’m always left satisfied.

I’ve tried a few dry cleaners around town and although this one is well out of my way I prefer it. Their prices are reasonable and, more importantly, they have cleaned tmy clothes better than the other places. For example, the pressed line on my pants are always perfect!
