Always VERY helpful, has a large variety of materials and supplies. If they don’t have what I need (rare), they come up with a creative solution to my problem! Great sales on products, great, friendly customer service. Refreshing to experience non-​pretentious employees at an independent art store. I live an hour away from Plaza, but it is definitely worth the trip! Will do ALL of my art shopping here.

Well I came here a lot years ago when I was an art student at VCU and always found what I needed for class. But I won’t be back after my most recent visit. I had two groupon gift coupons, and was told that the management won’t allow them to be used together, and won’t allow one to be used alone without spending more than the face value, so they made it so I MUST spend cash in order to use my groupons. I didn’t even want cash back for the difference, but they would not let me use even one groupon for an item of lesser value. That is not following the standards set by groupon. Forget that!!!

I visited the store completely clueless after having signed up for a drawing class at the Visual Arts Center. The ladies there were very helpful, helping me navigate my confusing list of required supplies and helping me get what I needed. They seem to have a great selection of drawing materials and media.

I was looking for a framing store close to my place in Downtown Richmond. I found Plaza Artist Materials using my Unilocal app. The store is small, so it’s easy to miss. Plaza Artist Materials is located directly on VCU campus (very convenient for VCU students).I stopped by Plaza Artist Materials just for a picture frame. The store carries a lot of art supplies but the framing section is limited. I did find a nice frame at a reasonable price. Customer service was good. The employees were helpful and friendly. Parking is hit or miss especially during the semester. If you’re in the Downtown Richmond area, Plaza Artist Materials is a good choice for art supplies and selected frames. I give Plaza Artist Materials & Picture Framing a 3.5 rating.
