Mi Casita Restaurant

Excellent service, great food & reasonable prices. I was in town for a wedding last weekend & a group of us wanted Latin American food on Sunday morning before heading out of town. We had a group of 20 & couldn’t find a place to sit & feed us all. I scrolled through Unilocal & found this place. I wasn’t even looking at ratings just menus & this place has everything we wanted. Thanks to the person that posted pics of their menu! I called them & they said they could accommodate us immediately.
I was the first to arrive & as soon as I walked in I thought I had made a terrible mistake. This is a bar/​nightclub/​pool hall. It was suspiciously dark, few lights were on, there was only 1 waitress & no customers. It didn’t appear like a good restaurant at all & as our group arrived they walked back outside to warn the others. With no other choice we all agreed we would stay.
The waitress quickly brought out chips & salsa, took our drink orders, brought our drinks & took our food orders. The food did take a very long time to arrive. We noticed they were constantly putting out carry out orders, but nothing came for our table. Slowly the food started coming out & another waitress arrived to help.
So now to the good part, our group ordered sopa de res, sopa de pollo, sopa de mondongo, sopa de mariscos, pupusas, tacos de lengua & not sure what else. Everyone absolutely loved the food & surprised that this place could make food this good. I heard the pupusas were great, the seafood soup was all fresh ingredients (or at least not the frozen mix that other restaurants use). The tacos de lengua were banging & the chicken soup looked like the best dish to order. I only heard great things about the chicken soup. I was very amazed that the waitress got everyone’s order correct. The substitutions, side items, dark meat vs white meat, she got everything on point.
The service & food is absolutely 5 stars. I just took 1 star off for the scare factor. We arrived shortly after 11am on Sun morning & the place looked shady. We left around 2pm & the restaurant was full by then, but they only have a handful of tables. I would probably visit this place again if I’m ever down there.

Finally, I found a place in Richmond that makes real Central American food. Great job guys!

Best local place to get authentic central american food. Pupusas are the best in the area and the carne asada is yummy. Atol is great as well. Atmosphere is super super casual and half of the place is a bar– get takeout if that bothers you!

Great place for authentic pupusas and latin cuisine! The pupusas were so good that I ordered an extra 10 to take home!
