Worst teriyaki I’ve ever had. I tried the pork and chicken combo plate and both were lacking. At least they give you some salad and your choice of dressing.

It’s within walking distance, which counts for a lot since there’s barely anything around here. I’ll give them another try some time.

I should have read the other reviews. The owner might have changed. I didnt see the nice asian lady/owner that i remembered from before. Teriyaki chicken was over cooked and slightly burned. Cali rolls were mostly mushy rice. Portion was noticeably smaller as well.

This place has some weird identity crisis going on. It is a teriyaki house/taqueria! Tried this place because of the 4 star rating. I’m guessing this place had a change of ownership. The food was really really bad, and it’s really hard to mess up teriyaki anything. They offered Mexican food which I thought was odd. The food was bland. The California roll that came with the«California Special» was mainly rice and nothing in the middle, don’t know if it even had nori in it. They gave me some weird tasteless ranch dressing for the salad when I specifically asked for 1000 island. Overall, it was just really sad plate of teriyaki with very wet rice. Avoid.

This place… Was just not good. This place makes sandwiches, Japanese and Mexican food. They said they had the best chicken in town, so I tired it and damn… This place would not survive in the city. I am from SF so maybe I’m being a little harsh but gotta speak the truth. Not a 4 star place.

I’ve pasted by the sign to this place. Pictures wise it looks appetizing. With all the positive reviews & comments on Unilocal.I thought I’ll give it a try. To my disappointment, it was not true to description. I ordered the Cindy special. It wasn’t much to it. Lack of flavour and the rice tasted funny. Price wise it was okay. Customer service was okay, fairly friendly.

Teriyaki chicken is really good and service is superb. All in all I will be recommending this place to friends and family.

Where do I start cashier told me that the rice will be done in 10 minutes after I already paid for my food. Then I order tacos which also tool forever to come out. The cook was eating while in the kitchen over the food and didn’t bother to wash her filthy hands before beginning to prepare food. 40 minutes goes by and food still isn’t out how do you go from 10 mins to 40 mins. Needless to say I will not be eating here ever again. When you have a teriyaki restaurant you should have multiple rice cookers my advise.

HORRIBLE! Their food is no where near fresh. Please don’t waste your time coming here. Their food is more like meat you would put in a fajita. I guess the seasame seed on top was supposed to make it Japanese. I wish I could give it no or a negative star review. Oh, a group of Mexicans came in 20 minutes after us and their food looked some what fresh so maybe that’s the key in getting good service and food here.

I love Kim’s Teriyaki House! I’ve been going here for 15 years now and I still love the food. Nice, simple and delicious! Best teriyaki chicken I’ve had! Every time I come back to the Bay Area I have to come here

Under new ownership. Still a great place to go, generous portions good good but definitely different. Good tastes a bit saltier. I will still come back because it’s good but there is a difference.

September 21, 2012… Shuttle Fly Over Day! Decided to try this place for lunch, co-worker said it was good. I walked in and was able to order right at the register which was nice, no wait, no one in the restaurant. Some to-go orders waiting to be picked up were on the counter… Middle aged Latina lady took my order, she was VERY kind :-) I ordered a teriyaki chicken sandwich, and a ter. chicken plate with California Rolls and salad. Ordered at 12:15, order ready at 12:30. pretty quick in my mind. Ter Chick sandwich: was quite good. Soft French roll, tomato slices, tad bit of mayo, lettuce, chicken. Roll was toasted nicely. Kinda drippy(just the way I like it. 6.99 .I think) pretty good. Chick Teriyaki plate with Calif Rolls and salad: Chicken was good, thigh meat, moist, heavily seasoned with teriyaki sauce. CA Rolls were made with imitation crab meat w/little bit of mayo, avocado, wasabi was really mild, ginger slices were mild too. I couldn’t taste them too well, I think the teriyaki flavor on the dish was taking over. Salad was romaine lettuce(nice) and chice of dressing(ranch, 1000, blu chz, cesar, Italian.) Pretty good. I’ll be back to oder on the salad main courses. they looked great!!! If I’m ever craving teriyaki I may come back, but it was a weee expensive for what you got. imho. I’ll be back tho… I really want to try a salad!

Really… a proprietor who is as nice as can be… sweet, deferential… but her teriyaki just did not cut it for me… no grill marks, none of that great, awesome flavor elicited from grilling at the right temperature and that sealed in dynamicism(a la Kobe-Ya in 2000). I was thinking, ‘ahhhH, darn it!’ cuz I had high hopes for Kim’s to be spectacular, in a little unknown area off Hilltop mall that I could swing by to grab some great Korean-Japanese food after I hit the gym. Not so. The thigh meat of the chicken, pounded, must have been put onto its cooking surface(grill or pan) while it was still wet… meat will look exactly the way it did when I opened box.(oops) Even the nice dainty touch of adding black sesame seeds and the fresh, healthy portion of salad(romaine, not iceberg… yay) on the side wasn’t going to compensate for the main character of the show, which was quite ‘dud’ly. sorry, Kim. But it was such a pleasure to meet you! PS If you’d like to give it a go, gonna do you a favor and keep from circling Hilltop like a caged rat on a wheel… next to Chevron is an aged strip mall called Richmond Square. Near the south side of the mall, across from JC Penney.

That’s 3.51. We discovered this place on Unilocal and decided to try it for lunch today. We found it fairly readily and when we walked in Kim’s face lit up w/recognition. So did mine, but I couldn’t remember where I’d seen her before, just that I knew and liked her. It’s a nicely decorated, unpretentious place in a strip mall on the Hilltop Mall ring road. Alan ordered the California special, a California roll w/teriyaki chicken and salad and I ordered the chicken and beef combination which comes w/rice and salad. We shared a bottle of water. There was a steady stream of customers, most doing takeout and some eating in. Our food was tasty and fresh, the portions generous. The salad, which came w/a choice of dressings, was crisp and good. My only complaint is that everything is served on styrofoam, even when you’re eating in. I kept puzzling over how I knew Kim and finally Alan suggested that she might have owned the cleaners at the top of Fairmount by FatApple’s. That was it! I confirmed it w/her before we left. I used to take our clothes to her until she closed her business and sold the place to someone else. That was well over 10 years ago. I took my clothes to the new people for a while and then transferred my loyalties to the Great American Dry Cleaners in the Plaza. But I have very fond memories of Kim and am glad to know she has a thriving business serving delicious food.
