We dined here with our family from DC. We had two young children with us, and our waiter was great in making some accommodations for them. We splurged on lots of cocktails, small plates, and large plates, and everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

Wow wow wow — delicious food and wonderful ambiance. The service is very friendly and accommodating. We lucked out by walking in, but we hear a reservation is needed. Modern, American with some Thai/Italian influences. Wonderful!!!

After long anticipation, and years of having Heritage book-marked on Unilocal,a girlfriend of mine and I came here for Sunday brunch. We had both looked at the menus online before arriving, so we knew exactly what we entrees we wanted. It was the quickest meal in a restaurant I’ve ever had. But judging from my star-rating, this wasn’t a bad thing at all! The food came out quickly, and was piping hot. My friend had the«Big Hot mess» and I ordered«chicken and waffles». We shared some food, and I found that her dish was DELICIOUS! Super savory, and packed with great textures and flavor. They don’t hold back on the pulled pork, nor the portions. The potatoes were crispy. Everything melded together perfectly in her dish. My dish, «chicken and waffles», was a pleasant surprise. I was worried that such a simple-looking dish wouldn’t «wow» me, but it absolutely did! The flavor of the waffle was delicious and unique. It’s fluffy exterior went excellent with the crisp chicken tenders. Overall, I’m so happy I got to try Heritage for brunch. I won’t be back in Richmond for a really long time, so I was thankful they were able to accommodate, and get us in(we unfortunately ran into issues and arrived late for our reservation). Thanks, Heritage!

I am not sure why everyone gives this such a great review. The Bloody Mary was boring and tasted like plain tomato juice with tobacco and was served warm.. I had the biscuits and gravy. Who knew the main item for a dish would be overshadowed by the potatoes. I am not sure how you find such small eggs. I will not be back for brunch and neither will my dining companion.

Had a wonderful time. Ate at the bar and enjoyed the pimento croquettes, special dumplings, liver pâté, arugula salad and the Cobia. All was good.

Visited this place with a friend for dinner. I like that you can make a reservation online, that’s super easy. The drinks were very good though I will say quite pricey, but then again that seems to be the norm for downtown Richmond. I ordered the pimento cheese croquettes for an appetizer and they were the best thing I’ve eaten. Cooked to PERFECTION. I ordered the scallops for dinner and they were good. For dessert I ordered a cup of sorbet which was SUPER sweet, not really my thing but ok. My friend ordered a cheesecake and got the weirdest dish. It was like graham cracker crumbs, cream cheese ice cream, a weird gelatinous thing, and some sauce on a plate. Not a cake at all… just ingredients when you put together made a cake taste? She said it wasn’t bad but the description on the menu needs to be changed cause when they brought her dessert we were both like uhhhhhhh.

Showed up a bit before our reservation and they managed to get us a table quickly. Staff was pleasant, courteous, and attentive without being overly so. We started with the fried broccoli, a cheese board, and some cocktails. Fried broccoli blew my mind and I could have eaten a bucket of it. The regional cheeses were all tasty. This was the first cheese board I’ve had where I can say I’ve enjoyed everything on it. Cocktails we delicious and exactly as described. Dinner for her was the mahi mahi and I had the roasted chicken on grits. The chicken came out in a substantial portion. The skin was crispy and flavorful but the chicken itself was a bit dry. I really liked her fish and wished I had gone with the mahi. By the time the dessert menu came, we were stuffed. We decided to pass(horrible idea) on nutella ice cream and save room for dessert and a drink somewhere else. We should have stayed put and moved to the bar. Heritage was lovely and I look forward to going back when I’m in the city.

Only once has this place not stood up to it’s typical 5 star standards. I have visited again quite a few times since the 2014 night where the food was less than mediocre and so glad I have! It must have been an off night because every visit has been fantastic since. This weekend I went with my mother and her friend, we sat at the bar, and luckily 3 seats were available as soon as we walked in! We ordered a few different drinks off of their drink menu and the pork belly app(which is a MUST everytime). For dinner two of us ordered the steak and the third ordered the mahi mahi. I usually like my red meat way more than fish. However, somehow, Heritage does the mahi mahi so well that it surpasses the flavors of the steak. LOVED it! Can’t wait to return to get my own entrée of the mahi mahi!

Heritage is one of the top 5 restaurants in Richmond. I have never gone and not enjoyed everything I tried. Last night was no exception. We started with fried broccoli and smoked fish dip. I wish that I just ordered 3 fried broccoli orders for my meal! I mean it’s broccoli so it’s healthy, right?! My bf said it was his favorite part of the meal. He tried the hangar steak for dinner. It had a yummy horseradish, mushroom purée. Good choice. Our friend got the scallops and loved them, but didn’t offer to let me try(probably the last time I’ll invite her to dinner). I went with the same thing I always get everytime I go– roasted chicken. Sounds boring, but, trust me, this is not your average chicken. The chicken is roasted to perfection. A de-boned thigh and leg served over amazing cheddar grits(and I know my grits!!!), sauteed kale and small bites of bacon. If you have not tried Heritage, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Perfect for a casual dinner or romantic evening out.

Heritage has stolen my foodie heart! My boo and I decided to treat ourselves to Sunday Brunch after a long, stressful couple of weeks. After reading several of my fellow Unilocalers detailed and mouth watering reviews I was sold. Off to Heritage we went. Upon arrival we were told it would be about a 45 minute wait. I definitely recommend making a reservation to avoid an extended wait time. The restaurant is small and very popular so I observed even patrons with RSVP had a bit of wait. But OMG… It is worth every delicious minute of waiting. Every word spoken by about this place is true! Our waitress, Mary, was an absolute peach. She was cute and provided wonderful service. Mary made sure our experience at Hermitage was unforgettable. We started our meal with cocktails. What is brunch without some libations? I ordered the Long Walk and my boyfriend ordered the Mimosa. I definitely recommend venturing out of the norm and trying one of their creative concoctions. The Long Walk was simple but superb. The rum and champagne cocktail was the perfect compliment to my food. On to the star of the meal… The Big Hot Mess!!! My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and it was good but his fork somehow kept finding his way to my plate. The Big Hot Mess is a big delicious creation. All the different ingredients and flavors play wonderfully off each other. From the crispy potatoes to the sweet pork belly, every bite of this dish will have you yearning for more. From the first bite I was transfixed! I am hooked and don’t want to be set free. Heritage is now my brunch bae.

Heard so many great things about this place, I just had to check it out for myself. Made a reservation on Unilocal which came in handy because the place was popping during 12pm. The service was relatively quick and the customer service was great. The manager was the one who was seating people and setting up the tables, she was very sweet and accommodating. We were seated within minutes, most likely because of our reservation. The inside of the restaurant is cute and cozy. Feels like you’re in someone’s house. The place seems kind of small but it surprisingly fits a lot of people. We were greeted immediately by our server. She was friendly and helpful, I had asked her if she thought the«Big Hot Mess» or the«duck hash» was better. She suggested the«duck hash» and I loved it! Duck hash($ 12): basically potatoes, duck pieces, with fried eggs and hollandaise on top. — the duck was extremely moist and so delicious — the eggs were perfectly made — the hollandaise was superb; good citrus flavor — the only thing I didn’t like much were the amount of potatoes; I thought there were just big pieces and I didn’t finish em. Nutella French toast($ 10): — so sweet and delicious — the French toast itself was moist but still had a crunch to it. — the batter was not overly sweet because that would be too much along with the Nutella Cons: — mimosa was kinda pricey($ 7) — there’s a wait if you didn’t make a reservation — gets pretty crowded Overall, I had a great time. I’d say this is one of my favorite brunch places to go to now. 10⁄10 I’d come back all the time.

Overall, a good experience. Food was good, service was good, the restaurant is very trendy. I got the handmade pasta with scallops and thought the flavors were very good — it was a very balanced seafood pasta dish that didn’t lean too heavily on the seafood part(which I think can be a bit funky when done poorly). Was a little disappointed by their drink selection — it was pretty generic overall. I did appreciate that they let me try things before ordering a full glass. Overall, a bit pricey and makes for a solid dinner spot, just won’t be the absolute best or most memorable meal.

Heritage has been a family favorite for years. My parents have been frequenting and could not love a better establishment. Not only is the staff well informed on their menu, but they are probably the most professional I have seen around Richmond. When my mother was undergoing chemo, she became sick once in the restaurant. They helped her clean herself up and walked her and my father to the car. They have gone above and beyond for my family, and I could not be more gracious. Mary, an amazing waitress, is one in a million. If you appreciate finding a connection and also eating a delectable meal as well, than Heritage is the place where you feel most welcomed.

Why haven’t I tried this place sooner?!? I feel like I missed out on so many great meals from Chef Sparatta… and now it’s CATCHUP time! My husband and I spontaneously went to Heritage for brunch on Valentine’s Day, with no reservation(quite ambitious, right?). The hostess kindly told us that the wait for a table could be upwards of an hour, but I wanted to try the menu so bad that I didn’t mind the wait. Shortly after, we were offered a shorter wait at the bar and ended up scoring two seats less than 20 minutes after! We don’t normally sit at the bar to dine in because it just seems too cramped for comfort, but to slim off almost 45 minutes wait time was a great option! As for the menu, they had great options for all diets. So much so, that it was hard for me to choose just one(which is quite normal for me). Much to my dismay(my fork usually finds its’ way on my husband’s plate for a «taste» of something different), we both ordered the Big Hot Mess and a side of their fluffy pancakes. I don’t normally eat pork(besides bacon, duhh!), but for some reason the combination of flavors in this dish spoke to my soul. From the first bite, my instincts were correct and I found myself engulfed in the deliciousness and forgot all about the commotion around me from the Valentine’s rush! The pancakes were also very satisfying and a perfect match to the entrée. On to the drinks… I’m not going to lie, we treated ourselves to fine food and experiences all weekend so paying for a $ 12 cocktail for brunch was not something we wanted to do! So although I can not speak for the taste, the craftiness and skill of the bartenders were TOPNOTCH! Remember we had a bird’s eye view of the action, and the bartenders made the drinks look so fun and full of care and attention. I’m sure they spit out over 30 cocktails from the time we were there, but every one seemed so perfect! I’ve never seen a bar with so many creative ingredients and special attention to detail, which goes without saying that we will be back for one… or two. I can’t wait to try dinner in the near future. Thank you Heritage for a great and welcoming experience :)

Heritage is a family-owned and –operated restaurant that has been around since ’12. They serve up new American fare for brunch, dinner, and desserts, as well as housemade cocktails in a very hip space. I loved the little booth we were seated in by the window, as we can watch the passerbyers as well as get a great view of the restaurant. I had the Big Hot Mess(this was a nice massive hot plate with crispy diced potatoes topped with pulled pork, cheddar cheese, and a very slightly poached egg; there were some drizzling of smoked cream cheese and tomato aioli; I requested this dish to be done a bit more crispy and, boy, did they deliver! The potatoes were super crispy and the sweeter BBQ pulled pork had nice crispy edges; the cheese was melty and pretty tasty. I didn’t care for the drizzles, but I did request their house hot sauce — ‘Texas Mike’s’ — this was a fantastic complement to the dish — yum! The dish was not as super salty as others have stated, but then again, I don’t mind salt as that’s better than being bland and underseasoned!); the hubs had the Ramen Bowl(came with braised pork belly, nori, kimchi, and poached eggs with housemade noodles; this was super disappointing, as the broth tasted extremely watered down; the noodles tasted okay, but were slightly overcooked; the kimchi were forgettable and not fermented long enough). I loved how each table was given a little glass bottle of water, in addition to getting our glasses filled with another filled bottle(so that we were left with a full one!). Our server was Heather, and she was super friendly, attentive, and made sure that everything was good. I can see myself craving for that Big Hot Mess again with that awesome Texas Mike’s hot sauce again! :D +Big Hot Mess: D +Texas Mike’s hot sauce! :D +ask for Heather: D +reservations highly encouraged +request for the window booth seat +limited street parking on Main St

I like this place so much! One of my best friends lives in Williamburg, and we often head over to Richmond for dinner and a night out. On a very(very) rainy January night we decided on Heritage after reading glowing reviews on the Unilocal app. We didn’t make a reservation since we weren’t sure when we would make it there, but it was no problem getting a table since the weather was so bad and people were staying cozy at home. It was absolutely freezing so I asked if the bartender made a hot toddy — our server said yes, but it was honestly the worst drink I’ve had in a long time. Perhaps I should have stuck to the cocktail list they had on the table, but I learned my lesson! That was the only bad part of the meal. We started with the smoked fish dip and it was so, so great. The malt vinegar pita chips it was served with were incredible and I could have eaten a lot more of it! Afterwards, I settled on the burger, and I’m so glad I did. It’s served with bibb lettuce, onion jam, cheddar, Hanover tomato, and smoked tomato aioli, and it’s all layered on a brioche bun. It was one of those«okay I’m just going to take ONE more bite» situations. This is a beautiful restaurant where you can enjoy some well-prepared local dishes. I will definitely visit again if I have the chance!

I noticed this place was popular for brunch with other Unilocalers so I was anxious to try the dinner menu. We were having a girls night and with any girls night a good cocktail is a must. I loved the use of local liquor belle Isle and the unique cocktails menu. The dinner menu itself has 3 parts small(side items), medium(salads & soups), and large plates(main course). Our servier was amazing and very helpful to any members in our party that had a allergy or diet preferences(vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free ect). We started off with the croquettes which came with a smoked tomato aioli which honestly I could eat a basket by myself. Its has this cornbread outshell to it but it was so creamy and cheesy on the inside and that dipping sauce sooo good. My main course was the burger which I did ask for medium rare and it was more or the straight rare side but I didnt mind. I noticed while enjoying my burger that the onion jam made it sweater which I could have done without(get it on the side). The girls did seem happy with their kale gemelli pasta which is great for a cold fall night. The best part of the night in my opinion was the DESSERT ! We got the chocolate candy bar and the carrot cake and to our suprise he brought us a complimentary cheesecake as well. The candy bar though was the BEST one ohh man I was gonna lick the plate. It not to sweet & every component on the dish was perfect together. I did notice when our servier was giving us recommendation alot of items like the pastas/burgers/desserts had add ons(which would be more $$$) so dinners beware.

Heritage is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my entire life(yes, this includes domestic as well as international locations!). I ordered the Rockfish, which was out of this world. I dunno what kind of sauce they put on it but I seriously had never tasted anything like it before. My friends got the homemade pasta which they were raving about non-stop as well. In terms of cocktails, I am blanking on the exact name, but I essentially had a more eloquent version of a whiskey sour, which was absolutely incredible. Not too sweet, and not too strong, mixed at the perfect consistency. Check this place out if you are in Richmond!

As a lover of brunch, I stopped by this busy bee restaurant with my cousin and her boyfriend, and my boyfriend as well! Their orange juice was divine and server was friendly. The star of the show was my entrée: The Big Hot Mess. The pork and the soft egg were cooked to my delight and I cleaned my plate clean! Other than the wait, the food and service were a treat and definitely need to stop by here for dinner.

If you haven’t been to Heritage you’re missing one of the staples of the RVA food movement. My wife and I went back again for dinner this week and like usual the place delivered. It’s not just the food. It’s the whole experience. The place is lively but not loud. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks are expertly crafted. And oh by the way, the food is amazing and reasonably priced. Go. Now.
