You know, consider where you are and this place is five stars. But really, I guess it’s about three stars. It’s a store with a little of gifty kinds of things. There are also books. Basically, it’s like an average bookstore in a city. This isn’t in a city, though. This is in the middle of nowhere. I guess it’s a p good place if you’re stuck in the country.

You can find me in Hastings at least once a week. I’m there for movies, gifts, geeky home décor, comics and music. They’ve recently redecorated and now they are primarily a toy/collectible type of store, but still have the same movie and music supply. Yeah, some stuff is over priced, but if you’re geeky enough and have to have it, you’ll pay it. My advice: sign up for the free Hastings card. It doesn’t do anything as far as rewards, although I really wish it did. But they do send some prettu valuable coupons via email depending in your personal purchases.

I think it’s a great place to look for good CDs… Some used ones are over priced for their value, however I understand they have a business to run, payroll… Etc. plus they are remodeling and it looks nice so far. My only suggestion would be that they section the music better and have more Indie band CDs. But we love them!

Great place for rentals, books, movies, games, but it’s my #1 local stop for comic(back issues and new releases every Wednesday). Prices for back issues are competitive and new releases are usually up by the time they open. Good remodel of that back area as well!

I used to come to Hastings at least once a week. You know why I don’t anymore? iTunes, Netflix, and Kindles. It’s sad to say, but I don’t have a reason to buy a CD, book, or DVD anymore. I basically only come here now if I’m getting a gift for someone. Another great reason to come here is to stock up on good candy before heading over to a movie!

I’m surprised this Hasting’s is still around I think the only reason is the selection of comic books and it’s the only movie rental place on this side of town. As the years I’ve lived here the book section has gotten smaller and smaller and the middle novelty section gets bigger and bigger. They never have the book or movie I’m looking for when I’m here. So Amazon has replaced here like most chain places. RIP Hastings, Barnes and Noble and Borders. your time will soon come.

Hastings is a pretty decent place to score an okay deal on dvds — if you catch one of their«buy 2 get 1 for a $ 1» deals or something like that. A lot of times you can get a «rental» version of a dvd for pretty cheap. If you’re looking for new or even just used dvds and blu-rays — their prices can be outrageous. I work in a used bookstore myself so I’ve never bought a book from Hastings. I’m spoiled at my store and refuse to pay full price for books now. I will say this — their bathroom sucks. lol.

They have a lot to offer and the staff are friendly and are helpful when asked. When you don’t have Borders, Barnes & Noble, or Books-a-Million and Waldenbooks fled town, what do you do? You go to Hastings. The store has quite a lot: Magazines Books Calendars Comic Books Music CDs Music DVDs/Blu-Ray discs Movies Games Movies and games can be rented or bought, so you have a chance to try before you buy. I can’t say that the selection is always amazing, and sometimes, the prices seem too high, but they have deals where you buy 2 used movies and get another for $ 1.00 more. On occasion, it’s buy one used movie, get another for $ 1.00. I wondered when Best Buy opened in town whether it would cause a problem for Hastings but I’ve seen very little traffic in Best Buy and Hastings seems to be about the same as it was prior to the opening. They re-arranged things, so navigating the store makes a bit more sense, but it seems they haven’t settled on the final placements of individual categories, so it’s a bit difficult to find items, even when you find that category. Being that Readmore and Waldenbooks have closed, and this Best Buy doesn’t seem to have books, people will rely on Hastings more. Update: I remembered to use my check-in offer at Hastings tonight. Unfortunately, according to Unilocal,it expired November 30th, but according to Hastings, it expired September 30th. The more I’ve dealt with these people, the less I trust them. On being registered for their rentals, they started sending me e-mails with my name misspelt. As I tried to correct the problem, the web site knew nothing of the card I was using and the people in the store told me that they were not connected. If they were not connected, how did they get my e-mail address? Additionally, they advertise older merchandise as being current and have refurbished merchandise at near retail pricing. Caveat emptor is obviously a believable statement when dealing with this chain of stores. Since I tried to use the first check-in offer, I’ve seen several others. I discard them, thinking that they won’t work. However, I accepted one, got my merchandise, and headed to the register. I explained about the previous try, and the cashier said«We’ll make it work!» and she did.

Basically a poorman’s Barnes & Noble, but lacking the ambience that makes you want to hang around and browse for awhile. The setup could be neater, the store lighting seems so dark and the books look messy, its not very inviting. And with how few people there were actually shopping in the store, you would hope the employees would try to tidy up the place, but obviously that wasn’t the case since the place looked so disheveled. Went in looking for a specific book, couldn’t find it, and hastily turned around and walked out. Had absolutely no desire to browse as I would have done at B & N. Too bad, they are totally in a position to do it and do it well since there really are no other bookstores in town. What a waste.

I was pretty impressed that when I stopped here in June of this year, that they had the hard to find Harvey Birdman DVD sets for $ 12 each. Since about the only other place anywhere that I’ve seen it being sold for a competitive price was on Best Buy’s website. It was also the only place in town where I saw the magazine 2600 sold at, though that didn’t surprise me too much. Though I don’t think of this place as 5 stars, I’ll gladly now put this place at 4.5 stars, in my book.

I would always laugh when people would call Richmond a ‘College town’ as this is the only bookstore in town and less than a third of the store is books. The books are mostly romance novels and best sellers. not much else. This Northeastern Liberal elite was not impressed with the fancy book learnin’ available here and finished his college back East.
