Teehee~ I’m guilty of reviewing based on only a few dishes but it’s been satisfying my cravings for weeks that I think it deserves a good review :) And so yea I’ve only gotten two things here: Cantonese wonton noodle soup with duck(or with roasted pork) and salted fish fried rice. What do they put in this noodle soup? I am constantly craving it and coming back. The soup is fine, but I really like the way they make their wontons with large, chunky pieces of shrimp and lots of white pepper. Reminds me of my dad’s home cooking. Yum! The duck in the soup has always been good. It costs like $ 13 or something for this combination, which is hefty for me, but I just keep coming back and getting the exact same thing! Roasted pork is not bad too, sometimes a little hard, but whatever. Get the duck! The salted fish fried rice could use more salted fish, but I usually have it with chicken also, and it has your typical carrots, peas, and egg. We always have some left to take home, and it’s good as leftovers. It just satisfies the craving every time. Seriously what do they put in this stuff. I feel like I’m going to come back here like every week to get the same thing. Maybe I’ll try their dim sum one day.

So the first time I went here, I would’ve given it 4 or 5 stars just based on the food. The second time I went here… The food was still really good but at the end of our meal I looked down on the floor and there was a massive cockroach coming toward us. We were all pretty grossed out and called the server over. She looked at the roach and then looked at us and asked us «what is going on over here?» Then she asked if we minded if she killed it and we said no so she squished it with her foot and left it on the floor. She didn’t give us any discount on our food for our strange experience or anything. If there was a roach that large out in the open, who knows how many more are in the restaurant???

Full Kee is unfortunately the only push cart dim sum restaurant in Richmond. There used to be Queen’s dim sum in the shopping center where BWW is but it paled in comparison to Full Kee. That’s not to say that Full Kee is amazing. It satisfies my dim sum craving to an extent when I’m too lazy to drive out to VA beach or NOVA. Unlike other dim sum places, they aren’t as prepared when they open. If you want to get a bunch of different things you’re going to have to wait awhile. They also don’t have much variety in dim sum compared to other places. The quality of the food is so-so, but when I want dim sum this is all that’s available. The service is another thing. If you want attentive and caring customer service, this is not the place to go. If you get butt hurt bc the old Chinese people there are not sympathetic to your needs, stay away. I have a very patient personality and I’ve been around plenty of Chinese restaurants like this. It’s not that they don’t care… They just care about how much they’re selling and how much money they’re making. So to me, the shitty service is nothing. As long as I get my food, it’s good(or decent), there’s no hair or flies in the dishes then my dim sum experience has been made. Almost.

Apparently the only dim sum restaurant in Richmond, so there’s really no choice but to go here if you want to 飲茶. There was barely anyone in the restaurant and the dimsum carts were not being refilled or pushed around.

I have visited Full Kee several times since my last review. I’ve found that the quality of the food and service is actually better, and usually good, as long as I avoid the frantic weekend times when dim sum is being served. The food here is never great, but I have found it to be consistently good again.

For carry-out Hunan in Richmond, this place is top notch. Granted, I’m partial to Szechuan, but ya’ll ain’t got any worth a scratch. Full Kee will be a regular stop when I visit, so I will edit this post in the future. The steamed dumplings and fried spring roll were exceptional. I’m pretty sure they are house made, which is unusual. Full of flavor and piping hot. You get three in each order. The roast pork ap was tender, smokey and delicious, with a perfect bark. With a little rice, it’s a meal in itself. These folks know how to cook a duck. No joke! The dozen or so hanging in the case tell the tale. Perfect skin, juicy and flavorful, served on a huge bed of white rice. I first thought they hosed me on the rice, with just one little container full, until I opened that box, Rice usually gets short shrift in these reviews, unless it’s undercooked, but this was fluffy stuff, and just right. A number of reviewers suggested the eggplant stuffed with beef short ribs, so we gave that a shot. Funny thing… it was stuffed with shrimp. If you want to file that as a complaint, go ahead, but it was great. I suppose if this ‘Brew was trying to keep a kosher Christmas that might be an issue, but the dish is a knockout. The eggplant was silky and the filling was wonderful. Next time, I’ll try it with beef. Our carry-out bag had plenty of all of the packets we needed of the essential sauces, napkins and utensils. It also came with a half-pint of a mysterious dipping sauce. Soy based, with lots of ginger, citrus and fiery little peppers. Not sure exactly what it was for, but I loved it, especially on the rice. The huge live stone crabs in the tanks hint at my next meal there. If you just gotta find something to complain about, here ya go. The place isn’t fancy. It looks like a LOT of people have eaten a LOT of good food there. The décor is pretty standard. Now here’s the odd thing… the place was full of good looking people. I mean some really, really good looking folks!

We came for the dim sum and didn’t regret it. I Can’t wait to come back. You always know you’ve found something authentic when most of the people eating eating in the place come from th culture being represented by the menu. Not much took at, but neither were out favorite places to eat in Chinatown back in NYC. Really looking forward to our next visit.

Wow! Everything that the other reviews said was correct. This place may not look impressive but the food is good. There is a display cabinet with roasted duck, ribs and chicken. This was not on the regular menu. Neither were the delicious dim sum that I had as appetizer. The roast duck came with a generous portion of steamed rice. I will definitely be coming back here to try other dishes. BTW, they have the large round tables with the spinning center to accommodate many dishes for sharing.

It’s been 5 years since my last review, my opinion has changed slightly, but for the good. Dim sum is still the staple for my returns here. Service is still a little slow, but they do have more staff to help clean, bring water and wait on the customers. This place has really great dishes. I really love their veggie sauté dishes. I love their stir fried snow pea leaves, but it is expensive for a plate of veggies. I also like the duck and roast pig. Atmosphere is nice, lights are dim. I like that I know what to expect.

I’m very mixed about this place coming in twice. The first experience was confusing. One staff member said that we could still get dim sum since we arrived before the cut off time. So as we were choosing, our waitress came and said that we couldn’t order them anymore. We contested we were told otherwise and so she went to the back to check. Turns out, they turn off the main equipment for most of the dim sum at the cut off time so you have to put in the order before the time. So, since we didn’t get any dim sum, we decided to order off the menu. The food was … ok? We ordered two different pork dishes and it was mostly vegetables and the taste was slightly better than at a Chinese take-out place. The only saving grace was their eggplant short ribs dish! They got really deep flavors from eggplant which heightened the sauce they used it in as well. For my first experience, I would give this place 2 stars because of the confusion and the food was alright, not really worth the price. However, my family reaaaally wanted dim sum and luckily we actually arrived before the cut off time so we ordered a ton of dim sum! Wow, this place has really good dim sum! A little pricey for my taste, but the food was exquisite and fully authentic! We ordered nearly everything on the menu and all the plates were delicious. I especially had a liking to their shrimp dumplings. It was so good that we even ordered seconds and our waitress was a bit surprised we were ordering more after ordering so much!(It was mainly me being fat, I love dim sum!) Now then, I would put my second experience as 4 stars because the food was delicious this time around! The only negative sentiment this trip was the waitress is a bit rude; she was in our first trip, but better our second. I would hope to get one of the waiters, they were kinder to us. All in all, I’ll average this place out as 3 stars. I would come in early for their dim sum, but avoid any time afterwards. I also feel the meals were more expensive than what I got, but I do not anywhere else in this area to get dim sum(because I’m just visiting the area). I would come here if I have the urge for dim sum.

This is one of the few good authentic Chinese restaurants in Richmond. Full Kee is the only place my family goes to for dim sum or Chinese vegetables or Hong Kong style noodle soup. If you have eaten in a lot of authentic Chinese restaurants, you know décor is usually not so important, but I would say this restaurant actually has pretty good décor. I have honestly found that the best authentic Chinese food can be found in little hole-in-the-wall type places. If you are looking for Americanized Chinese food I would go elsewhere.

I want to say this was single handedly the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. I couldn’t even bring myself to calling the place back and asking for a refund so I’ll let this $ 16.90 for some chicken and broccoli with white rice and ONE egg roll be a lesson to me, and a donation to you for hoping you’ll improve…

This is your go-to place for authentic Cantonese and general Chinese food, especially for the weekend dim sum service. The seating is spacious and quick, service keeps going and you can even close your own crabs or lobsters. They have a bunch of authentic Chinese dishes as well as more familiar offerings. The Hong Kong style noodles and soup dishes are slurry and filling.

In a sea of Americanized Chinese restaurants this place is uniquely authentic. I’ve travelled to the interior of China twice on business(away from major metropolises and into some of the ‘regular size’ towns) and Full Kee is pretty close to what you will find in terms of variety, flavor, and presentation. They do fish and seafood particularly well and the dim sum lunch on Saturday afternoons is a must to experience. Now be forwarned, there are some items offered on the menu that you won’t typically find in the cookie-cutter US Chinese resturants, but don’t worry as they are clearly marked. Be adventurous if you like, or stick to chicken, fish, or pork cooked in outstanding Cantonese fashion. In term of décor, the place is very basic — but who cares? You’re here to eat!

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. This is probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. We went in and waited for almost 15 minutes before we could get the server to come to our table and hand us some menus. We had a party of three, and she only handed us one menu. When we asked for two more, she just rudely asked«why?». BECAUSETHEREARETWOOTHERPEOPLEHERE. Afterwards, a different server came to take our orders. We asked them for the special they were advertising, which was a fish that could be cooked two ways. We asked for it to be stir fried and to also have part of it to make a stew. For 2 dishes, the total was $ 40. We asked her if the fish was fresh, and she assured us that it was, so we thought that the price could be warranted. Oh were we in for a huge disappointment. The stir fried fish came out rather quick, but when we saw it the portion size was disappointingly small. However, taking the first bite into it you can taste that it’s been frozen for a while. They also only put in some ginger and scallions, nothing else. The soup was by far the most disappointing though. The thing smelled of something awful, like the fish had died on the bottom of the tank for a while and the owners decided to freeze it, thaw it after god knows how long, and thrown into the soup. The broth was basically water with some chicken bouillon cubes and MSG with 5 pieces of bok choy and some fish balls and tofu. Keep in mind, each of these were $ 20. But the kicker here is that for a $ 40 dish, they only brought us out 1 small little bowl of rice to share between 3 people. At most Chinese restaurants, they would give you a large bowl to share between people or at least 1 bowl per person. Nope. When I asked her for additional rice, she stated that«Oh, this is how all Chinese restaurants do it, like in New York City. If you want more, you pay more». BS. I’m Chinese, I’ve been to all parts of China, lived in Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, frequently visited NYC, and no restaurant I’ve been to is like this. Their reasoning that it was only 1 dish hence you only get one bowl of rice. But for the money we paid the equivalent of 3 dishes. Apparently this logic didn’t reach through the server. At this point, I really wanted to just leave and not even pay them. This restaurant is a complete con of a place, and I am ashamed that they can even call themselves Chinese. Do yourself a favor and don’t come here.

I love it here I been coming for years Sundays they have dim sum and on other days you can also order dim sum but it’s more fun on a sunday when they push it around in carts. I took my boyfriend here 3 years ago now he loves it and from time to time he craves for the roast duck on rice everything here is so good if you come here but try everything but I suggest not getting you regular Chinese takeout if you come here try something new you would life it it’s the closest thing to authentic Chinese food

I came here for dim sum only, so this review will only be based on just that. I arrived at 12:30PM on a Saturday and there was a decent amount of customers, perhaps about 15? The service I experienced was quick, friendly, and attentive. I ordered your usual dim sum items such as shumai, hargow, fried taro, and shrimp rice crepes. Everything was so surprisingly delicious, and their fried taro were the hugest fried taro pieces I have ever eaten! I can confidently say that Full Kee has the best dim sum in Richmond. I also thought it was comparable to the mid to high rated dim sum restaurants in Northern Virginia/DC. I am so happy to have found a great dim sum place in the Richmond area. Everything was fairly priced, delicious and satisfying to my dim sum cravings. I have tried a few other unnamed dim sum restaurants in Richmond… however the quality just wasn’t there. I just wished that Full Kee had a bit more of a variety! However, I will definitely be returning when my frequent dim sum cravings hit me like a train again.
