Was here just this last Friday for dinner with my wife. I had the fish fry and wife had the bangers and mash. I was disappointed. The fish fry was recommended, but just wasn’t that good. I can’t even say it was really bad, just didn’t taste like anything. Very very bland. Wife’s bangers and mash was good however. Overall a nice atmosphere and ok place to have a beer and hang out.

Went on Friday for supposed award winning fish fry of 2014. Maybe the broiled is what they meant because the fried cod batter was tasteless as was the meat of the fish. It didn’t taste bad, just bland. Wings which are also highly rated were perfectly crispy and sauce didn’t make them soggy. Very small wings for $ 12 however, looked like Cornish hen leg pieces. The taste was excellent though. However I find it odd that it cost $ 1.50 for one extra 1.5oz plastic cup of blue cheese. Only comes with one apparently… I saw some of the ribs come out which looked superb and I had buyers remorse after receiving fish and should have got the ribs. Oh and the coleslaw was the best I ever had. Very hearty diced slaw. In my mind award winning coleslaw contender. Eat downstairs in bar area to avoid kids screaming. Apparently some parents thinks its OK to allow kids(3 year old) to pierce our ears with whining while dining multiple times. I will never understand how waitresses think thats cute and«awwe» at that. Very rude. Find a sitter or go to McDonalds sheesh. I will go back though to try other things as they looked good, fish was just a disappointment. I could have battered up some fox river carp and it would have tasted better.

Doyle’s Is great. Great bar. Food is all from scratch. The pot roast is better than moms. Home made soups. I love the chili. Most importantly is the personality of the owner, Jeanie. She is a wonderful person and truly cares about her patrons. You have to give this place a chance.

I’m in a rut. Every time I go to Doyle’s with my beloved, I get the bangers and mash, the pot roast dinner, or the chili. And I am happy in this rut! I leave here with a smile on my face 100% of the time. The ‘mash’ of the bangers and mash are not instant and taste divine paired with the mild and flavorful bangers, which are sausages. A side of baked apple wedges, perfectly seasoned, is the perfect sweet foil for the savory bangers. The pot roast is like my grandmother used to make, only I get so much on my plate, I get to take home leftovers… something that never happened with grandma!

I have to start out saying I don’t like wings. Never did although I’ve tried many. But we make a point to stop when we go through town just for their wings. I LOVE their wings. Now mind you because I am so wing picky that is what we make a point to go there for, but we’ve had many other great meals there too. Love their fish fry and have heard great things about their pot roast, but I found the wings before I tried their pot roast and we don’t get to go enough for me to give up my wings for something else. Their atmosphere is nice, and their service is always exceptional. We don’t live nearby, but we try to plan our trips up to Wisconsin to go through Richmond just to stop at Doyle’s Pub.

Really great casual atmosphere, great service and fantastic food. I had a reuben that was awesome and my wife had guiness beer battered cod that was also very good. Highly recommended!

Been to Doyle’s numerous times and am never disappointed. The food is delicious and the service is always friendly and fast! They have great specials and a wide variety of drinks to try. I would highly recommend stopping in for lunch, dinner, or just some drinks! Doyle’s has it all!

My wife and I live about 20 minutes away and we’ve eaten here a half-dozen times or so as it’s a mid-point between us and some friends of ours. We always sit in the bar area at one of the many high-top tables. Typically, our party includes six and our usual visit includes about an hour of cocktails and conversation before we order our meal. Service is efficient — and prompt, even when a few of our group members are drinking rather, ahem, steadily. We’ve sampled a pretty good portion of the menu here — including an average fish fry and most dishes are pretty good. I particularly liked one of the several grilled chicken wraps with which they kindly substituted mashed potatoes instead of fries upon my request. Burgers are pretty good here as well. Three in our party ordered the lasagna dinner the last time we were there and all three rated it below average — there was barely any pasta involved in the dish at all — it was better described as a gooey pile of cheese. Prices here are reasonable but they don’t give anything away either — bar tabs involving pitchers of beer can add up very quickly — you might be better off drinking individual glasses as the pitchers seem a bit high priced. We’ll be back — the atmosphere, food and service are all pretty consistently good. One caveat — the City seems to encourage its police officers to make sure the tickets they write more than cover their compensation on any given shift so be aware that a designated driver is highly recommended and that strict adherence to the speed limit — not 5 miles over it — is advisable.

We went there last night for St. Patricks Corn Beef & Cabbage dinner. It was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had. It started with our Guiness’ arriving in a plastic cup and ended bad with the dinner itself. The vegetables were extremely overdone and just tasteless mush, the very thin sliced corn beef was like chewing rubber. I look forward to enjoying the annual Corn Beef and Cabbage feast every year, but I will never go back to Doyles Pub for St. Patricks again.

This is a decent place for lunch in a small town. Nothing exceptional. Pros: Large portions, food isarrives hot. The breaded mushrrom app was crispy and delicious. We had the Doyle’s special roast beef sandwich and the Ruben. Yummy, crisp french fries. The sandwiches were fine, nothing exceptional. They claim they have the best Ruben outsided of New York City — dont fall for that. I prefer my bread buttered and grilled, not just toasted. Gave us extra napkins right away Cons: drinks menu(beer/wine) nothing special. décor could use some refreshing

Best place to grab a quick bite to eat in Richmond while you’re looking at antiques. 5 antique stores within walking distance. Makes a great three to four hour afternoon.

Scrumptious hot wings, grilled steak and fried fish. Parking can be a challenge and the wait, when crowded, can be annoying. The prices are fair and the service is good.

Tried Doyle’s with my husband and two-year-old daughter a couple weeks ago. I really enjoyed the food and the prices were very reasonable! The service was friendly and prompt, and there was even live music on the patio. We will definitely be going back.

Truely, a pleasant surprise. The food was good. Matt(the bartender, helpful and informative about the fresh homemade foods) I had the Pita Club, my wife had the hearty split pea soup and Pub salad. Did not disappoint. Flavor and quality of food was above average. Irish Pub atmoshere and fare. Wait time was a little long even though, no one was there except my wife and I. If I had a negitive, it would have been my drink(martini on rocks) was small(good) but small. We will definately be back! Nice job Matt and Doyles, another 3 star resturant in Richmond IL!

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This time I had one of those impressive looking Bloody Mary’s. YUM. Did not disappoint. A trend I’m noticing at Doyles — it takes a while to get your food. Plan on waiting at least 30 minutes. Hubby had the Guiness Chili and I had a BLT Wrap. 30 minutes from ordering until the food was at the table. Also, it’s a bit pricy for what it is. My BLT wrap was $ 10.99, other wraps are also $ 10.99(which I can’t understand why a grilled chicken sandwich is cheaper than a wrap). I felt really bad for the table next to us. 5 people dining — placing their order when we were being seated. When we left, they STILL had not received their food. Plan on being extremely patient for your food to arrive, or in the mood to dine at a leisurely pace. Despite the above, I’ll stick with 3 stars. A-Ok.

Well I see that there are not many reviews(8), and half are 2007 – 2009. So the reviews need serious updating and some positive shouts. We live in Schaumburg and go there 2 –3 x a year for last 3 years. It has always been a positive experience regardless of day.(we have usually gone Sat. Or Sun. afternoon. Our most recent visit was Friday afternoon. on this visit, I got the Beer battered cod with hush puppies, cole slaw, and optional potato pancakes. It was the lunch portion and I was very pleased. The fish was very tasty n not over cooked. The potatoe pancakes were amazing. My usual order is the Ruben, billed as «the best outside on NY City», and it is not an overstatement. Consistently, outstanding sandwich. A word about SERVICE. It has been consistently prompt, attentive, friendly and helpful. I can’t imagine getting better. In the past, we have the fresh made soups, and other sandwiches. Al have been good choices. The chilli was good but a bit salty for my taste, Highly recommend to all

Just got back from the«famous» fish fry at Doyle’s. YIKES!!!~ Fish was ok, I had broiled and the BF had fried. TARTERSAUCE??? I think NOT! It was more like dill spread that could have seasoned an entire catch of salmon in Alaska! When I told the waitress that it was a bit different she explained that it was home made. And that should make a difference??? Home made bad food is STILL bad food! There were two balls sitting on the plate that looked suspiciously like hush puppies — WRONG!!! I was married to a stump jumper for 17 years, I KNOW how to make hush puppies and these were soggy, mushy, dead dogs! Who cares about the atmosphere, just give me some good food, please!!! To be fair, we have been there 2 other times and the food was pretty good. Maybe I’ll go back… someday.

I stopped in with some friends at Doyle’s for a brewski and appetizers. The atmosphere is welcoming and on nice days I am sure that the deck and«front porch» area are the places to be. No problem with service other than having to ask for silverware and napkins. I was somewhat surprised that these weren’t brought while the food was being prepared– but it was resolved quickly so no big deal. Overall I felt it was a nice place to stop and have a beer or 2.

As is usually typical with me, I get so involved with the day and the excitement of my weekend adventures that I forget to eat. And then suddenly I realize I am weak and starving and have to go somewhere, anywhere, before I collapse. But see, over by Richmond way, there ain’t too much to choose from, unless you enjoy the fast food(which I don’t). Oddly, for all the quaint shops they offer, they have almost no restaurants. There is a fancy Italian place, which wasn’t going to work since we were dressed like schlubs, so Doyle’s was the only other choice. The interior of Doyle’s is pretty half-assed, hunter green painted panelling with weird random stuff tacked to the wall, and formica tables. There is an outside seating area, which seemed nicer, but we were told«there’s bees out there today» so we opted to stay inside. The bathroom is seriously in my top 10 of worst bathrooms ever. Imagine an airplane bathroom where everything is just a bit too old, broken and rickety for your liking. Yeah, like that. As for the service, we had a girl who had mastered the rather vacuous«dear-lord-if-I-could-be-anywhere-but-here» stare but who was also pretty speedy bringing the order over. My grilled chicken sandwich was dry, but edible and the fries that came with it were nothing special. Basically, you could do a whole lot better, and a bit worse. Or you could just be better prepared than me and eat somewhere before you get to this neck of the woods.
