Dr. Iourno removed my cataracts this year and I am very pleased with the results and with the quick responsiveness to my minor concerns after the surgery. He is a very intelligent and compassionate doctor.
There is *always* a wait to see the doctor. I have never been to an ophthalmologist anywhere when there has not been a wait, and I’ve been going for over 40 years. Just bring a book and suck it up!

I don’t think you can always judge the wait time of a practice by the first visit; emergencies come up, people before you can be running late, forcing a longer wait time as the day goes on. This is what I told myself at the first visit, when my 1:30 appointment left me sitting in the waiting room until 2:45, then left to sit in the exam room for another 30 minutes.
The first red flag was being required to pay for the appointment upon arrival. Why have people pay in advance, unless you have a lot of walkouts. When I commented on this practice to the woman at reception, she made a face and shrugged, then when back to picking at her nails. Second red flag.
Dr. Michael was nice, exceptionally bubbly and thorough; no complaints there. So, I booked the recheck for six months later, this time making it one of the first appointments of the day, thinking I wouldn’t be waiting as long. Guess what happened — same thing! A simple recheck took 2 hours and 15 minutes, with only 10 minutes of that actually spent with a doctor.
While I like Dr. Michaels, he does not possess a unique skill set. Like everyone, my time is finite, and my full life does not allow for spare time, to sit in a waiting room and exam room, for 2 – 3 hours. I’ve since found another doctor.

Dr. Michael is a good doctor but he’s way overbooked. I waited 1 ½ hours for a five minute procedure and I’m not exaggerating at all. This is too much time to wait for a doctor. My time is as important as his. Fortunately I don’t need long term care with this practice. I will look else where if I need any more procedures done on my eyes.
