I’ve been working with a patient who has dementia & talks non-stop about Dr. Carter. Unfortunately, she has not seen him in about 5 years. Her recent diagnosis is such that she wants to hear it from him. Empathetic, I called to make her an appointment with him, offering to pay cash if her medi-care did not cover. This was in part to make a scary situation better(no longer being allowed to live alone). This was also in hopes to get a better understanding of her mental health history. I did this in collaboration with her son, who has power of attorney for every decision– including mental health care. The receptionist, Benita, was bafflingly rude. She told me that she would not make an appointment without the Medicare card. She said the number I gave her did not work when she tried to check it. I called back today & offered to simply pay cash in order to make an appointment. She said that she needed the patient’s ID in order to make the appointment. I asked for an email or fax number & she said that we had to bring it in person. I asked why & she said to avoid fraud. I asked how fraud could be committed if the patient was going to be present with photo ID at the time of the visit. This was simply to make an appointment. She said this was«policy». I asked if she could email me a copy of this«policy» in writing. She stated that they didn’t have it in writing but it was their policy. I hung up, speechless, as this is just the weirdest experience I’ve ever had & am still kind of clueless as to why this woman does not want to schedule an appointment so bad that she is making up weird policies. Oddest experience ever…

I love Dr. Carter he was my doctor years ago, and I recently went back to him as my primary care doctor! He is a very good doctor and he knows his job! It took me almost 7 weeks to get an appointment with him! Frustrating! His receptionist are extremely rude! She had been there for years and she is lazy! When seeking medical attention the last thing you want is to deal with a rude person! Especially when you don’t feel well! I promise I have soo much respect for this Doctor but I must be honest, he needs to replace his entire office staff with someone more sensitive to patients and their needs! JULIANEEDSTOFIND A JOBTHATSHELIKES! She never smiles and brushes you off when asking questions about anything! I called her for test results and have yet to get results! It’s been 3 weeks! Still no call! I finally decided to switch my primary care doctor, my health is important to me and if I’m not getting the help I need I will take my self elsewhere! I wish I could give a 0 stars, but because Doctor Carter is a awesome Doctor that knows his job, I going to be nice! My biggest concern is how his front desk receptionist treats his patients! I hope he reads this
