I came here for the second time ever last night(there were several years between visits). The food was pretty good and not expensive. I had the cellophane rice noodles with beef and the fresh rolls. The fresh rolls were some of the best I’ve had. I wished I had asked them to make my noodles spicy; they lacked the heat they I usually enjoy with Thai food. But they were still flavorful and a good portion. My friend’s garlic noodles with beef were also pretty good, but he agreed that he would have appreciated a little heat. The service was not so great. They weren’t very busy, yet our server seemed to be a little out of it. We were practically done with our appetizers before we had to flag her down to get our entrée orders– and she acted annoyed that we did so. She also never asked if we wanted drinks after we had both finished our first(hello it was NYE, keep ‘em coming!) We also used a Unilocal deal– which I had mentioned several times including when we asked for the check– yet she still didn’t include the deal on our check. She did go back and take off one of the entrees, but I still didn’t get the impression that she really cared about the inconvenience. The host, who also doubled as the food runner, was fabulous though! The dining room also could use some updating. Not much had changed appearance-wise from when I was there several years ago.

Lunch on a thursday. The food was excellent and service was good. Atmosphere was elegant with table cloths and felt upscale and in the city. I had a great lunch special with shrimp and chicken. All the tables were full. Big bonus is that they have a parking lot.

This was a pleasant surprise because of the other poor ratings. Got dragged here by a friend and had a dish that was pretty hard to screw up. It was yummy. My friend had a green curry. He is not a thai expert, but really liked it and says he will go back. The best part of the evening was the patio setting. Worth it to go hand with friends.

The environment is so good, just as well as the food! Also, here served a unique spice sauce

Great outdoor ambiance … bland food … The ambiance of their outdoor courtyard on a nice day is great. Rest of the restaurant’s layout is cramped and inconvenient to say the least. A casual diner not very familiar with Thai food most often orders Pad Thai as a safe bet. Every Thai restaurant should make an effort to be sure this particular dish is one of their very best dishes. Here, Pad Thai was totally meh, full of noodles and not much else, unappealing and bland tasting. Other dishes were also bland. We were not even asked if we wanted our dishes cooked spicier. The prices were on a high side.

Beauregard’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. The curry is my favorite and is very balanced-not too sweet. I also enjoy the Thai salad, shrimp soup(very flavorful!), and vegetarian pad thai. I love the food here because it all tastes very well balanced and flavorful and not too heavy. I’ve tried a few Thai places in Richmond, but keep coming back to this one. They are very friendly here and the prices are reasonable. Not sure if they still do this, but if you get the VCU coupon book they pass out at the beginning of every semester, they used to have one for buy one get one free entrees! Also, they have a nice patio which would be great on a summer date night. They also have a free parking lot, which I really appreciate since it’s downtown. Definitely give it a try, they are very accommodating.

This place has been here forever. Best patio in Richmond. Not the best Thai in Richmond. Not even close. Unfortunately, there aren’t any Thai places other than this place for about a 15−20min drive. So we went… Moo ping — kind of a rip off. Basically $ 7 for 4 sticks of little pieces of meat and a cucumber salad. Then my entrée came with the exact same cucumber salad. I had the duck special, which was just a frozen duck deep fried and served with rice. No sauce or anything, just some oranges. Not really impressive or tasty. My friend had a curry and said his was good though. The green leave garnish — god I hate when people do that. It’s so 1980s fine dining. Can we stop doing that now? Give me a handful of cilantro and some spicy chili lime fish sauce dipping sauce instead. People come here for the patio. Let’s face it. The type of people who come here are old people(yes, plenty), and people who don’t venture out and try other Thai restaurants. I could care less about the atmosphere. It’s about the food!!! Do me a favor. Go to Chadar Thai on Broad St. and get their duck special. It is amazing. So delicious. There are also several other good Thai places in Richmond. Not recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place today. We had a party of 5, I tagged along bc my friend said this place has good Thai food, I was pessimistic for sure after looking at Unilocal.I didn’t know what to order so it asked the waitress what people order the most there, and she told me to order something that I forgot the name, it’s basically half of a chicken blah blah(see picture), it came out juicy and tender, the seasoning was perfect, I asked for the spice tray and they please me with their chilly, it’s top notch, I’m crazy about spicy food. The bread they brought out before we get out food was really good as well. I would come back

I’m a sucker for thai food, and this place left me pretty underwhelmed. A group of us went for a mid-week lunch, and although it smelled great when we walked in, it was deceiving, because the food was just average at best. I ordered the spicy fried rice with chicken, and can say that it wasn’t very spicy, and it wasn’t very satisfying. It was basically just a pile of rice, a few pieces of chicken, and a couple random slivers of bell pepper. Very disappointing. I wasn’t able to finish the meal, and didn’t even want to take the leftovers home with me. I will say we started with a spring roll appetizer, and they were good, but they were also the kind of spring rolls you could probably get at any other thai restaurant. There are definitely better options near the VCU area for you to go.

Horrible would be an understatement I’ve had Thai food all across the country including LA, SF Bay Area, NYC and DC and this is possibly the worst I’ve had. Best description of the food: «watered down«Additionally, the prices are fairly high and obviously not justified given the quality. Best dish was the steamed white rice. Food was extremely bland and the curries were diluted. The lack of flavor in the food reminded me of Asian food at a high school cafeteria or hospital food court, yet you’re paying a premium. Ordered the pad thai and red curry. On the bright side, if you do have to find decent thai food in Richmond, I’d highly recommend Ruang Tong. The food is tasty, authentic and well priced. Service is not the best though but still ok.

I stopped by here with a group of friends to watch VCU play Florida State. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and beer selection. I ordered the Thai Spring Rolls as a starter and had the Beef Drunken Noodle for an entrée. Both were quite fantastic! The only thing that I wish had been different was the price of the drinks. I’m not one to embrace paying $ 4.50 for a single beer but everything else was top notch. Food: A Drinks: B– Service: A

I was initially surprised this place isn’t rated higher. I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere when I went with four other people. But when I returned with a group of 12, it was a completely different experience. My First Visit: I ordered shrimp cellophane noodles and it was delicious. The noodles were-melt-in-your-mouth tender. There were 8 large shrimp cooked well. The mushrooms went well with it too. It was not spicy so i asked for chili paste on the side. My meal was only $ 13(came with a side or rice that I didn’t touch). The wine list was also surprisingly affordable(think pretty good $ 25 bottles). Dining companions also really enjoyed the scallops and salmon. The service was friendly and fast(some were in traditional costumes which seemed a bit odd to me). The atmosphere was great – it’s a historic house with a lovely patio, part is by the street and part is to the side. The patio was brick and had great greenery and flowers. I’m highly looking forward to returning! My Second Visit: I returned with a large group, and we were seated upstairs. I think we were the only party upstairs, and I could tell that we overwhelmed the kitchen and waitstaff. I ordered pad see ew, and it was just okay.

So Beauregard’s has the best patio, Ever. The area out back is beautiful, However, the food seriously left something to be desired. Honestly the worst thai I’ve ever had and I really wanted to love this place.

The shrimp pad thai is good, though sometimes I question the freshness of some ingredients. So far so good. The boy always enjoys the drunken noodles. They have a sampler appetizer that’s really delicious, but could easily be doubled in size for the money they charge. It’s shrimp, chicken, and beef satay which consists of a mini skewer with half an ounce of each meat on a stick. It’s absolutely delicious with their peanut sauce, but again it’s gone so quickly! The app includes a single spring roll too. The little kind. Service is great here, probably because there’s never more than a couple tables at a time whenever I’ve been there. They wear cute little traditional outfits, too. I’m sure the waitresses hate it, but I think it’s cute.

Found it on Unilocal when in Richmond at a conference. Was greeted by a VERY friendly bar tender(I ate at the bar) and she recommended the Pad Thai — but cooked their way. It was really good, but I guess I was so used to the commercialized Pei Wei pad thai, I had a hard tie liking it as much. Oh well. still good though. I also tried their Thai Iced Tea, which was too sweet for me, but if you’re looking for something«like» iced tea, but different with a little bit of a sweet kick to it, try it out. It’s almost like an iced tea dessert. Overall, good prices, a full bar, and great service.

Been a couple of times. I got noodle dishes twice(drunken noodle and garlic noodles). Both times I had the impression that the dish was rather bland. The drunken noodles were also a bit too dry. The garlic noodles are a skinner(almost spaghetti size) noodle and was better cooked. Appetizers are ok. Calamari was a hit and I enjoyed their tofu triangles. Soup from friend was just ok. Friend’s beef basil salad had really tender beef that was good. They are hesitant to accommodate spice levels. They table service is much better than at most Thai restaurants in the area and are a nice choice in an area with not a lot of midrange choices(either bars or high end downtown). So while the food was just ok to bland, it was an overall enjoyable dining experience for friends. The front dining area has a bar and the back area is more nice.

The last couple times I have been here, I have left unimpressed. I think I keep going back because it’s close and there is usually a deal(more recently the BOGO entrée via check in). Dumplings have been overcooked, spring rolls just okay, pad thai sub par, and pad see ew had a funny after taste. Not great… BUT… Edible, free food. Dilemma.

I had driven by the sign for Thai Room parking multiple times while driving down Cary St, but never got a chance to try the restaurant itself. Coincidentally, I recently bought a Groupon for Thai food that turned out to be for Beauregard’s Thai! The restaurant has many rooms/levels and is kind of cool. I went with two friends for lunch, so there was a lot of natural light as well as some plants and structures outdoors to look at through the windows. The interior was bright with some paintings and decorative ornaments. All of the waitresses sported traditional Thai attire, which added a nice touch. The lunch menu was not too long, and most of the typical offerings I see at other Thai restaurants were actually not on this menu. I ended up ordering cellophane noodles with chicken, as well as a side bowl of Tom Yum Goong(shrimp soup). The food was okay overall and the service was good. Prices were standard/reasonable too.

This restaurant looks small when you walk in… almost shady actually, but once you get in, it’s very quaint and you find out that it’s actually a very long, narrow restaurant with a nice garden. Anyway, onto the food. I came on a weekday during lunch and it wasn’t busy at all. My sister and I were seated promptly and food came relatively quick. I ordered the pad see ew and I was highly disappointed. First of all, I told the waiter that I wanted the spiciest possible level and it came out tasting bland and I couldn’t even tell if there was spice in it. Secondly, some parts of the noodles were crunchy… and for this dish, it definitely shouldn’t be. My sister’s dish(I can’t remember exactly what it was now) was okay, it was tasty but there was nothing special about it. We also got their thai iced tea and it was okay(also something I’ve had better at at other stores). Furthermore, it was $ 10pp, FORLUNCH! That’s unheard of, especially for this quality of food. If you’re downtown, I’d recommend going to another Thai Restuarant(such as Top Thai Ten). Beauregard’s Thai Room is not the worst I’ve ever had, but there are definitely many that are better.
