Honestly the outside of this store has gotten better in recent years, granted there is still lots of loitering with people hitting you up for cash, cigarettes or an assortment of other items. Though I did happen to walk in recently on a mentally ill man screaming homophobic remarks at God knows who because no one was paying no attention to him. As for service it has recently gotten incredibly better with the addition of two store employees that I honestly don’t know the names of but they recognize who I am and we have good conversation. That being said they still have what I assume is the store manager who is a middle aged female who has an exceptionally abrasive attitude towards just about everything and anyone. Which is understandable given the atmosphere but if she focused that towards the people loitering and harassing her customers outside then she might bring in a less rough clientele. I saw what I believed to be a corporate representative outside of the store recently and he seemed to have most of them on their toes. All and all every time I go it seems to get a little bit better and if they hired better sales associates this place could pull it around.

I’m blown away they chose this location for an Amazon Locker. I barely feel comfortable walking past the place with the population that loiters outside all day and night. Working at VCU for eight years, I’ve read about this place being robbed more than once. It does not face the street, so it really has an extra«dangerous» feel. I kind of feel bad for the employees… it’s more like an expectation of «when» this place will be robbed again, and you just hope they won’t get shot. I will walk here on occasion during the daylight. They don’t sell gasoline, so there really would be no point to stop here after dusk. The employees are nice and always have a smile — but that can’t overcome the all around seedy feel.

I went in to get something to eat and from the start, the employees were incredibly rude. They made all sorts of comments about my purchases, assuming that since I had earbuds in, I couldn’t hear them. The purchase was mismarked and they also didn’t change the price accordingly. On top of all this, they acted like it was my fault that the price was wrong, like I’d changed it in order to get it for cheaper. If you want surly and rude employees that take forever to come to the register to help check out long lines, that smack talk your purchases in front of you, and treat you like you’re lower than dirt, then by all means– go to the 7 – 11 by the 500 Academic Centre. If you want to go to a 7 – 11 where they treat you nicely, take the extra few minutes to go to one of the others in the vicinity of VCU. These people obviously resent having to work their jobs and while I know it’s not easy working at 7 – 11(I’ve worked at worse, so trust me, I know), you should at least try to be cordial. I’m never going back here unless it’s something so urgent that I can’t take the time to go elsewhere. I’ve talked to homeless drug addicts that were nicer than these guys.

This store is in a central location in Richmond, that being West Grace Street, but I wasn’t impressed. I got out of my car and was approached by two tatooed, shirtless hoodlums who were just hanging around because they had nothing better to do. One of them asked someone near me to get him a cup of nice inside at the soda machine. A step inside of the store, and the crowd wasn’t much better. Would definitely not eat any prepared food from this place.
