3 Monkeys is my go-to Fan restaurant! They offer happy hour specials EVERYDAY, including Saturday and Sunday from 4pm-8pm with cheap signature cocktails, wine, and draft beers. After happy hour, the late night atmosphere is really fun and casual… exactly what a Fan neighborhood bar should be! I think I’ve had almost everything on the menu, but some of my favorites are: crab dip, chicken wings, southwest steak salad, French onion soup, chicken pesto sandwich, Buffalo chicken wrap, and crab cakes. If you haven’t been to 3 Monkeys, you’re missing out!

So their Happy Hour makes me really happy! But the service can be a hit or miss. This is usually my go to spot if me and friends decide to go out a little late because their Happy Hour doesn’t end until 8pm! In Richmond that’s rare, and they have amazing deals! $ 4 cocktails when they’re usually $ 8-$ 10. The appetizers are also pretty good with my favorite being the crab dip and the monkey fries! For a cheap drinks and good food I would definitely recommend!

Nope. I ordered two of the same cocktails-the second came out a significantly different color than the first… I’m pretty sure there wasn’t actually any alcohol in the first one. It took a super long time anytime we needed anything-silverware, napkins, our check. I’m not talking about asking for extra stuff every two seconds, but the server never checked on us after their food runners dropped our food off. Every person other than our vanishing server that we dealt with was borderline rude. Their monkey fries were good, but that is not enough to make me want to eat here again. Seriously, anyone can put cheese and bacon on french fries and make it taste great. With all the other places to try in Richmond, I will not be back.

No complaints here for my quick stop-in. Came in on a very rainy Sunday afternoon for a quick bite and a drink. Normal bar type atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly. The spinach artichoke dip was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The red pepper flakes in the dip added a nice touch and the pita bread was on point! More to come after a more extensive visit, but great first impression.

I love the monkey fries but unfortunately, the last few times I’ve gone they’ve been served cold. The same happened to my friend with her appetizer as well. Love the food but am always extremely let down by the service. Every single time I’ve gone service has been very slow and a very long wait for the food. Would like to return in the future when my dining experience isn’t going to be 4 hours every time.

Well where do I start. Its’ mothers day my family of 4 came in to celebrate mothers day, it is my mom 1st visit. I sat here trying to give the waitress a fair chance to make her lousy attitude an ajustment.(maybe she is having a rough day) but it did not happen. This is awful it has taken about 15 min before the waitress to ask about drinks, another 35 min, before food orders came out, and still the waitress was like she was a paid actress to give the worse customer service. I thought maybe a cameraman would come out of hiding but it did not happen. Let me some up our experience with this. this is how the waitress brought out my dressing for my house salad… I kindly told her I lost my appetite and did not eat the salad… Now I understand why it was just a couple of people in this place… We will not be back, its not the same since Johnny sold it.

Okay, I love this place. I feel like everyone should have that restaurant/bar/diner that they just keep returning to because it’s so comfortable and familiar and this is mine. Is the food the most exquisite or adventurous out there? Nah. Is it good and filling and varied? Yes! And the drinks are sooo good. Their happy hour specials are awesome and drinks are like $ 4. They also have different specials on food and drinks depending on the night so double check! The atmosphere is cute and warm and comfy. There’s an outdoor patio and indoor seating and both are nice, though nothing beats the patio during summer with a mixed drink in hand. Servers are consistently attentive and friendly. Will return to this place over and over and over… there’s just something about the vibe of it that I enjoy a lot, and I love coming here with friends after a long workday. Recommend!

I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch after a night out of drinking with friends. They offered a handful of different flavored mimosas which was different. We got the mango flavored and it was decent, a little sweet for my taste, but the girls preferred more sweet then champagne in their drinks. I got the Chesapeake omelette which surprisingly use a good amount of real crab. Its a good option to have on Sunday when you’re deciding where to go for brunch.

I’m giving 3 Monkeys the benefit of the doubt by giving them a 2 star instead of a 1 star review. I came here mainly because of their happy hour, which was good, but thats where the review takes a complete nose-dive. Everything we ordered either came out really salty or bland with the exception of the calamari. Service was borderline non-existence. It took about 45 minutes just for water to get to us. The appetizers came out the same time as our entrees and the food was cold, like it had been sitting out for an hour. I ordered the monkey burger, which is far from what I would call a decent burger. No matter how hungry I was, the burger was just not appetizing. And to add insult to injury, the waitress didn’t even ask how I wanted my burger cooked. In conclusion come here for the happy hour, and NOT the food.

I don’t ever get a bad review, nor do I go out of my way to give a bad one but I can’t do it with this place. The food took forever to come out and it took 45 minutes just to get water. When the food finally come out my food(grilled steak tacos) was so cold that the tortilla was hard and the chesse on the side was starting to get a hard layer on top. However, that isn’t the worse part, my steak was seasoned with a ton of salt, it was so hard to eat that I had to give it back. Everyone at the table had a problem with their food. More then half of us couldn’t finish our food. Never ever am I coming back. Edit: the reorder took forever that I just cancel everything. Don’t come here until you want 5 hour dinner. Now I know why it’s called the 3 monkey you don’t see, hear, or talk about this place.

This place is severely under staffed, the bar is efficient but the kitchen and servers are so slow and always forget your orders, yet it’s written on order slips. My server was nice but completely forgot to check our drinks at the bar, grab our waters we asked 6 times for and we had to repeat our order 45minutes after originally ordering from her. We, group of 6, had to wait for our food for 1.5hours and nothing was that special. Yes we were hungry so we ate, but I wouldn’t come back here. Our appetizers THATAREFRIED, which takes 10−15minutes to be cooked and plated took over an hour. So dissapointed with management, service and food quality. Our food came out cold, dry and bland! I have never been so dissapointed in any place in Richmond, until today! Never again will we return Only pro: their caribbean monkey cocktail

I’ll admit the service was a tad slow, but honestly I feel like Unilocal reviews are far too often not reasonably accommodating of the circumstances(or really what you should expect) at any given restaurant. We went with a party of 3 around midday and sat on the patio, the server got our drinks and gave us time to decide on what we wanted. They had 5 dollar appetizers which were AMAZING! 2 of the party just shared appetizers which had both a beautiful presentation and great flavor. I ordered the monkey burger which was also fantastic! Given that it was an odd hour on a Monday, and there were a few parties that can in at once(plus the small staff on hand) the wait was reasonable and understandable! It was one server and probably one cook but the food was awesome, the waiter super nice, give the place a chance for sure! Props to everyone at 3 Monkeys for a great experience(I typically only go for drinks). I should have come in for lunch sooner.

I came for brunch with a few friends, and the lines weren’t that bad. With the crowds in the place the service was a bit slow and it took a really long time to get our meals. Compared to other places I have been, I thought the dishes were ok, nothing to write home about. It’s definitely a fun place to visit and the ambiance is great. But if you are looking for amazing brunch or as many reviewers call it «the best brunch» in Richmond, I would say it is a step up from some of the other brunch places but definitely wouldn’t make my best brunch list. Ultimately, it is ‘ok’ but not good enough to have the late of «Best Brunch Place in Richmond.»

I loved my visit here! Let me start off by saying I had a hard time figuring out where the entrance was. The host noticed and opened the door for me and another guy who was having the same problem. I went for a coworker’s going away party. I told the host I was there for a gathering and he said there was not a reservation made. Word of advice.. . If you plan to have a large group make reservations. They have a nice area in front. Sitting at the bar was alright, but the walkway was a little narrow and people constantly bumped my chair. I was told they have the best cheese fries. They were right. Overall the combination of drink, food, and service was amazing. The food is worth the money. Especially during Happy Hour. I got a cute little monkey with each drink. Daniel was a great bartender. Nice place to visit with friends. It was a little loud in the closed space, but it wasn’t an annoying type of loud. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

Loud ambient music. Good drink selection. College bar feel. Fun on a Thursday night at 10 with late night food full menu. The chicken pesto sandwich and onion rings was freaking great & my boyfriends roast beef sandwich was too. We’d come back. Safe area with lots of bars on the street.

I really hate writing bad reviews. I don’t like it one bit. With that being said, this was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. There were around 8 of us at a table on the patio last night and everyone I was with ordered food. The first thing that went wrong was that we put in 2 orders of monkey fries for both sides of the table as soon as we got there and only received 1 of them after 20 min… the second one didn’t show up until after we had finished the first one. Then, one of my friends(who ordered at the same time as everyone else) received her burger 30 minutes before the rest of the food came out and it wasn’t cooked properly. When everyone else’s food finally came out, it was all wrong. Red onions on the salmon salad when my friend specifically said no onions. Tons and tons of dill on the spanakopita when the menu never even mentioned that it had dill. Raw dough on the white pizza. Well-done burger when my friend asked for medium. The manager rolled her eyes and argued with us the whole time we were telling her the issues. She tried to smooth it over by saying she’d bring the table a round of shooters and then never did. I couldn’t believe that she was the one in charge. This is not the first time I’ve had terrible service here either. It seems it’s a common occurrence and my friends have said the same. The ONLY redeeming factor here is that they have an unbeatable happy hour, everyday, from 4 – 8. I think this is the only reason their doors are still open.

Visited last night and was pretty impressed. We ordered 3 apps because it was Happy Hour and they were $ 5 each! Great deal! Beef bruschetta it was good. My boyfriend says it takes like crock pot meat on bread. I liked it. The portion was generous considering how much it cost. Confit chicken with mozzarella and spinach. Delicious! It came with a creamy lemon dressing which caught me off guard at first but after the 2nd bite I was really into it. Once again good size for the price. Nachos with chicken added. Meh. I am not a nacho fan but they were okay. My BF ate them up. Not bad but nothing spectacular. Once again for the price not bad but I would not pay full price for them. We each had 3 beers. Good selection. The first one I had tasted a little flat but I switched to a different beer for the next two and it tasted better. The point here, is that during happy hour they were $ 3 for a pint and the selection is top notch! The service was a little slow at first. Once the food arrived it moved at a better pace. I look forward to coming back and trying out the other appetizers. The table next to us had the hummus and it was a very generous serving!

My boyfriend and I visited 3 Monkeys for the RVA Sandwich week and each ordered a $ 5 sandwich. The feel of the restaurant is casual, good for a quick meal or for drinks. The food, however, left something to be desired. Both of our burgers were on the dry side, and had way too much bread for the limited in-betweens, but I totally understand that we did get a pretty good deal for $ 5. Don’t be shy about asking for their Wi-Fi password! Pros: — Pretty standard food /sandwich /burger selection for burger lovers — Free Wi-Fi — A lot of booths and large tables for bigger groups Cons: — Food wasn’t quite my cup of tea, but I’m definitely up for giving the restaurant another try when they are less busy — A little loud

I had a lovely brunch on the heated patio yesterday. The three in our group all enjoyed our food and the prices were very reasonable. In my opinion this is one of the best options in RVA for a social brunch with friends. The heated patio looking onto Main Street provides a nice backdrop. They serve cheap Mimosa pitchers and $ 4 Bloody Marys. There is ample seating– both inside and out– so we had no issues getting a table at around 11 on a Saturday, and both the host and our server were friendly and pleasant. We all had a BM. These were delicious and decently strong. Me and my friend each ordered an omelette. Mine had prosciutto and mushrooms– and they did not skimp on the meat, which I was happy about. The other friend ordered a biscuit and it was smothered in a delicious-looking thick sausage gravy.
