Me and the lady were hungry. We tried to go to the egg and I but there was a long wait for a table and I was too hungry to wait. Luckily we saw that This wonderful place next door had breakfast. Let me tell you: Breakfast was awesome! The tacos were like a wrapped explosion of mouth parties mixed with eggs! The Ocho Stack was even better. It had so many awesome things stacked on top of more awesome things. Trust me, it’s good.

My hubby and I went for breakfast this morning and we had the Ocho Stack. It was 3 stacked bean, cheese, and shredded chicken tostadas topped with a fried egg and a yummy creamy green salsa. Sooo good! It also had a side of hash potato, onion, and poblano peppers. It was all delicious. They also brought out 2 additional salsas, habanero and green salsa. I tried the habanero and it was good. I love that they’re salsas are spicy and not tasteless and watered down. We will definitely be back to try more things from the menu!

The food here is really good and the place is always so clean. The price is a little bit more than like a taco cabana or taco buena but cheaper than like a Don Julio. I go often.

My boo and I were hungry Friday night and couldn’t decide where to get take out from. We were both in the mood for mexican and we wanted take out as time was of the essence. Unilocal to the rescue. This place was 5 minutes away and let me tell you the food was awesome. We ended up getting the fish and chicken tacos off of the recommendation of another Unilocal review as well as the ground beef with the two sides. I devoured the chicken taco which was supposed to be touted as spicy hot but it could use some more heat. The fish taco was oh so good. My girl and I both enjoyed our dinners and for the time it took to get there and back and enjoy dinner, priceless. Wet will definitely go back.

Have eaten here for lunch and dinner for years so thought we would try the breakfast. Wow! What a treat! We had the huevos rancheros and a breakfast taco… Delicious and super affordable!

This place has some of the best vegan tacos options I’ve ever found at a taco joint. Tons of healthy options here! We had one of each of the veggie tacos, which can be made both vegan and gluten-free easily. The tacos were so big, it was difficult to eat them all! We had a delcious guacamole taco, a zuchhini/corn taco, and one with plantains, black beans and slaw. None of these lacked any flavor, and the habanero salsa was delicious. My only complaint is that our waiter didn’t know if the horchata contained dairy. We had great service and a great experience here… will definitely be back!

Wow! Found out about this place yesterday. Drove 30 minutes to try it. Amazing! I had the 2 taco plate: fish taco and Latin Love. My wife had the veggie tostada and jalapeño chicken taco. My son had quesadillas. The hibiscus tea was also a great touch. We’re particular when it comes to critiques and this place scored on all fronts. Great 1st impression!

Nothing to write home about. I was expecting more from the high rating. Breaded fish tacos were OK, but I really wish the fish was chopped up instead of a huge hunk of battered fish wrapped in the tortilla.

Sticky tables even before the dinner rush — they needed to be wiped clean better. Something smelled around the soda fountain. The bathroom next door perhaps? Tacos are good though. I tried the Latin Love and Cabo Fish. The Latin Love consists of shredded beef, refried black beans, salsa verde, fried plantains, cotija cheese and I thought it was still missing something. It was just okay but this one left me feeling underwhelmed. The Cabo Fish, on the other hand, was a real winner. It consists of beer battered(could also be grilled) cod, jicama slaw, chipotle cream sauce, pico de gallo. The codfish was plump and delicious — good quality. I would go back, even if it’s just for the fish tacos. But I’ll also try some other stuff next time.

Some other dude who reviewed Taco Ocho said the hand written menu terrified him and he ordered the first thing he saw, the Pork Jalapeño tacos, and loved them. Same thing here. Totally confusing. I’m going to study the online menu and memorize that sucker by heart before going back. However, with that nbeing said, I’m happy to report all 3 of my experiences here(Jalapeño pork taco plates all 3 times) have been perfect. The little bowls of beans(black) and rice are the perfect size for me as I usually leave 2⁄3 of those carby goodies on plates in full sized Tex Mex joints. Just a tad behind Torchy’s but not that far behind as to penalize the Ocho a star.

Shrimp and grilled fish tacos were excellent. Also they have a nice selection of vegetarian tacos(3). A few areas for improvement: 1) chips and guac – underwhelming. Chips were too thin to scoop guac and kept breaking. Guac could use more cilantro and pepper/spice/kick. 2) black beans and rice served as part of the«taco plate» were not much to write home about. Black beans were refried(which is fine), but were too runny/thin and ultimately not satisfying. Overall really enjoyed the tacos and will return despite living fairly far from the restaurant.

It was Tuesday, and Cinco De Mayo, so it should be Taco Tuesday right? Seems that’s not much of a big deal here in Dallas as it is in San Diego, however, this place serves up some really good and unique tacos. I had a two taco plate with beef, rice, & black beans. First of all even though it’s like a taco shop, they use real dishes and not just everything blobbed on a plate. They give you a nice tray with the beans and rice in cute square porcelain dishes. The atmosphere is very modern not your typical taco shop atmosphere, which made it very pleasant to enjoy my meal. The best part was the Margarita, a good sized, real glass with a great Margarita, salt on the edge. The price was very reasonable, sure beat the fast food taco shop I was on my way to when I saw this place. Looking forward to exploring more on their menu. They were also more than happy to help me make some good gluten free choices for my meal.

The tacos here are really great. Now that we got that out of the way… Upon entering Taco Ocho you’re greeted by a menu that’s hung a little too far in the back and way too high. It looks as if it was designed by an autistic 10 year old who discovered crayons for the first time. After recovering from a small epileptic seizure from all the bright colors and random designs, I attempted to order and was just mostly confused. No idea what things cost or what combos they have or whatever. I saw«jalapeño pork» and just went with that because I was mostly terrified to look at the menu any longer. Anyway. Food was amazing. Restrooms are cold as a hospital. Water comes out super hot. You could pretty much boil ramen from it. So yeah. 4 stars. Would seizure again.

When we walked in the atmosphere was inviting. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice contemporary décor. Excellent service. I asked for an additional condiment, no questions asked, no fee charged. Very accommodating. We ordered their carnitas, Poblano pork and fish Tacos. We ordered the plate which came with rice, beans, chips and salsa. Lots of food for the money. Salsa has a smokey taste which means it wasn’t just chopped up veggies. Love and car was put into it by grilling the tomatoes and peppers. Excellent all around.

Yikes! So if you’ve never been to a taqueria and have a complete fear of anything foreign, this is the place for you and your grandparents. I went for the Cubana Torta with sweet potato fries: this small Subway-esque prepackaged deli meat lightly filled sandwich with chorizo and a small serving of fries shows up. It’s not terrible as a sandwich if this was Subway, but it’s not. Do yourself a favor: drive down the street and find a real taqueria and get a real Torta.

A solid casual & fast tex-mex restaurant for when Taco Cabana and Taco Bell just won’t do. I got the Cabo fish tacos, beer-battered, and they were pretty tasty. There is also a grilled option that I’m looking forward to trying. The tacos are big so if you’re getting the taco plate, you will be stuffed. Those with a hefty appetite will be just fine or may be a bit perturbed when they see the small rice and black bean portions lol… The menu is simple: tacos, tortas, burritos, and a few specialties. Standard fountain drinks are available but the winner to me was the sweet watermelon tea. It was so refreshing and the only sweetness was from the watermelon flavor. It’s a good spot for groups. Max capacity is about 90.

Another place recommended for me to try. Went with a party of three. Restaurant was clean with lots of metal accents and murals on the walls. Seats about 90 people. Order at the counter. Food when ready is brought out to you. Started with the queso dip(very good — could probably eat a bucket of the stuff) Main course was an order of Ancho Garlic Shrimp tacos(Grilled shrimp, plantain pico de gallo, shredded spinach, flour tortilla — 2 tacos to an order) with rice and beans. The tacos were OUTSTANDING. Good amount of shrimp with just the right amount of spicy kick without being overpowering. Rice and bean portions were very small. Beans were more a purée than anything, but did taste pretty good mixed with the rice. Also had the Pura Vida Veggie tacos(black beans, lettuce, guacamole, plantains, cilantro, red onions, serrano peppers, spinach, flour tortilla). These were proclaimed to be good by the people I was eating with, but just a wee bit too much spice which was slightly off putting. The salsa that comes with the meal looks a bit more like ketchup than salsa. I like spicy, but I don’t think this has the depth of flavor I am usually looking for… it was simply hot. Counter service was friendly and helpful with suggestions. I would definitely come back to get the Ancho Garlic Shrimp Tacos — Very Tasty. Three stars only because of small side portions of rice and beans and the taste of the salsa. Oh, and they are getting ready to open a 2nd restaurant in Frisco.

One of the best mexican places around UTD, Frankie’ s is awful compared to them! And their service is much friendlier! This taco place works similar to Velvet taco, you order and pick up the food! They also have tons of tasty vegetarian foods as well! I got the beef fajitas taco and it def had a kick to it! Its a fast building heat so, be careful! The only thing that would make this place perfect, is if they had elote! They have a chicken elote taco bit no elote :(

Taco Ocho is one of the better places for lunch in Richardson. It’s delcious, fast, and affordable. The menu includes an array of options for tacos, tostadas, and tortas. You can tell that everything is fresh and made to order. This isn’t just standard Mexcian fare either. Throughout the menu, there are many eye catching, unique ingredients. Examples include oaxcaca cheese, cotija cheese, plaintain pico de gallo, jicama slaw, chipotle cream, jalepeno ailoli, etc. Kudos to the person who came up with the menu. There are plenty of vanilla places for chicken, beef, and pork tacos with cilantro and onion. This place takes each menu item and gives it its own little twist to make it pop out. Will definitely be back!
