First, I’d like to comment on the previous review. I’m wondering how well the woman explained what she actually wanted or if she gave the impression she only wanted an eye exam and didn’t specify she wanted contacts as well.
I have gone to Dr. Teska for a number of years and found his office very accommodating in scheduling appointments and emergency visits. They are very upfront about cost as well.
The only time I had a complaint was when a prescription for an ointment had run out and I had to pay the full cost of an exam just to get a renewal prescription. The RX was for my eyelids so it seemed logical they could have taken a quick look at the lids without a full eye exam. Other than this experience, I’ve found them very fair in cost and, if at all possible, billing the insurance for anything covered under my plan. I’m in the early stages of cataracts and that portion of my exam is covered under insurance, so I only pay what is not billed to Blue Cross. As for the cataracts, Dr. Teska explained I was not to the stage where insurance would pay for surgery but suggested we wait until it was covered. He could have recommended immediate surgery but he showed a concern for what I had to pay and was reassuring that waiting should not cause any complications.
Also, the other review did not state what type of contacts were needed but I’ve always paid in the $ 200 range for both exam and contacts so I’m questioning the amounts she quoted. However, if she wanted bifocal or some other specialty lenses, they may cost that much. Mine are standard hard lenses, tinted light blue with the tiny black dot designating the right lens.

Excellant ophthalmologist. Very professional, courteous, and competent. Great office staff! I previously had retina and cataract surgery and I switched to Dr Teska after another surgeon messed up. I have full confidence in Dr Teska.
