Extremely authentic Thai food and a very friendly young and upbeat staff. Would recommend to both casual and hardcore Thai food fans.

Overpriced, small portion, seafood is not fresh, overall is not worth the money and time.

Tried Bambu after the restaurant next door was closed around a busy 1PM lunch time. The restaurant was pretty full but we were seated quickly, and the food was also quick in coming. The ginger beef that I ordered was standard as far as Thai dishes go, and also came with a light soup. Overall Bambu has some pretty good dishes but was a bit on the pricey side.

Well the waiter got almost all of our portions wrong. We were 5 and he got all wrong. I specifically mentioned for a dinner portion twice but didn’t get it. Don’t like his attitude too. When asked for a Togo of the remaining portion he said he changed it to lunch on the system and refused to change it. I would give 5 to the food. Not to service.

Really nice menu. Especially the crying tiger beef with sticky rice – that was the best thing we’ve had in a long while!

We came in for lunch today, around 11:30. It wasn’t very crowded at that point. We were seated right away, and our drinks came shortly after that. I ordered the pad kee mao, and because it was lunch, I got some mushroom soup with it as well. When a Thai soup is done well, it’s perfect: the broth was clear and incredibly flavorful without being too salty or overwhelming. And the pad kee mao was amazing! I ordered it with beef, Thai hot, and it was delicious! To be honest, I would’ve expected it to have a bit more of a kick, but it was still one of the best Thai dishes I’ve had in a while. My family ordered other dishes like the pad Thai, laad na, and ginger beef. They all looked and smelled amazing, and everybody was happy with their dish. The servers were friendly, and my glass was never empty for two minutes before a refill was on my way, even when the restaurant had its lunch rush towards the end of our meal. To sum up, the«People Love Us On Unilocal» sticker on the door is very well-deserved.

Guess they don’t serve single customer, even for lunch. I came here by myself for lunch after a friend’s recommendation. After saying«just one», both waiter and waitress gave me a weird look. After some hesitation, they asked me if I wanted to sit outside. Well, I’ll let myself out and won’t come back ever. Nice job!

This was my first visit to Bambu. The food tasted great but the lunch portion was for a mini me person and still cost me $ 12 which included a tip :-(.

Good but not amazing. The fried quail was the best thing we had. The thai tea was weak and not very creamy. The pad see eww was very nice and not overly sweet. I enjoyed the esan jerky but it came with like this sweet and sour sauce and not the shiracha sauce as advertised. Portions were very small to somewhat generous. The papaya salad was just bad. Overpriced, small and 50% carrots. So basically kind a rip off. Definitely recommend the that fried quail. That was very good. So yeah I kind of want to try it again but for the price for lunch I feel there are much better options.

Came here for a late lunch(3pm) on Saturday and we were surprised to find out there were another 3 tables occupied. The server was attentive, he checked our table frequently and answered all of our questions. We came here because the owner of Sushi Rock, Mark, recommended it. Bambu is operated by his sister-in-law and the two restaurants work closely together. grilled baby octopus: the texture and seasoning are both good. They also brought out two different kinds of sauce grilled esan sausages: it didn’t specify whether the sausages are home-made, but it was very unique and delicious. it was well-seasoned with a citrus-y undertone. the filling was tender and juicy as well. the plate came with different condiments, too moo yang: EATWITHYOURHANDS. Seriously, don’t be shy, eat with your hands. Mark said he provided the menu for the marinade and I think that may be why he’s a sushi chef… I’m just kidding. It’s a good marinade, I’m just not getting a lot of flavor from the pork itself. The rice was steamed to a perfect consistency though for dessert we got some steamed sweet sticky rice thing with a name I can’t recall. it could use a bit more taro, but it’s still a very unique dessert you can’t find anywhere else.

Update: still the best freaking restaurant in Dallas, despite its unassuming location and décor. Seriously, so good. We’re here basically every other week. We usually get mostly stuff we’ve had before, and try at least one new thing every time. We have yet to have something that isn’t fantastic. Reminder: ask for the Esan food. It’s ridiculously good.

Pad Thai here is the best I’ve ever had. They are unique, delicious, great atmosphere, great people, and definitely know how to prepare a perfect meal. Love this place. The curry is also something you have got to try!

Some of the best Thai food I can find in Dallas! If you are looking for Bangkok inspired Thai food, they have those staples, but their style of cooking is based on northern Thailand styles of cooking! Do not be afraid to try something you have bev heard of! Check out the specials list on their wall! My go to is the Pad Suki :-)!

I’ve come here a couple of times for lunch since it’s right up the street from my job. Food is good, but portion size has decreased each time I’ve been here. The takeout was mostly cabbage under a thin layer of noodles and meat, but now it’s lettuce!!! Iceberg lettuce makes up most of the dish, and it’s not a vegetable designed for that – it gets waterlogged and nasty. This is only for takeout, that I’ve seen. I doubt I would come back

Was served complimentary egg drop soup — very light and delicate. Perhaps lightest one I ever had. And also, I think it’s one of the better ones I ever had. Lovely. Decided to order out of the appetizer specials menu that’s on the wall. They looked far more interesting than what is on the regular menu(standard, typical Thai that you can get anywhere else). The specials, by comparison, stands out, and have not seen many of them elsewhere. Esan Sausage($ 8) — sliced, has really good smell, citrusy and even very familiar to certain Vietnamese dishes, dare I say it. Simply delicious. I was further surprised that it was recommended to eat sausage with the bits of odd accompaniments: peanuts, raw red onions, hot peppers, and pieces of lime(with skin on), and ginger. Personally the sausage is excellent on its own(one of the best sausage I’ve had in any restaurant), but with the accompaniments it gives it a different and unique taste that is also equally as good. Mieng Kum($ 8) — dried mini shrimp with toasted coconut, peanut, lime bits, lettuce, and red onion, with a sauce. Rolled up in a large leaf(chaplu?) to be eaten. Tasted dry except for the sauce, fishy because of the dried shrimp, and sweet because of the coconut. The combination of flavors oddly works although I think it is more of an acquired taste than the sausage. Atmosphere was that of a nice, clean and comfortably modern café. The service was helpful, friendly and on top of things. The owner was on site to make sure everything was going well, and even checking on customers. What made me like this place even more is that virtually all of the dishes that came out seems to be done in a fresh and healthy manner — you won’t find anything greasy come out of the kitchen. Couple that with the authenticity of the dish — and you have a winner(in my opinion). This is a true find. And a healthy one at that. Again, stick with the specials menu that is direct from Thailand.

Staff was wonderful. Location and restaurant was perfect for lunch. Had chicken red curry with brown rice with Thai tea. I ordered 5 star and was surprised with the lack of flavor and spice in the curry. Presentation was better than expected. Although by far not the worst curry I have had, it definitely was not the best. I would go back to try a different non-curry dish. The Thai tea was just right not too sweet.

A small restaurant but felt quite quaint! We sat outside due to the rare nice weather which made our dining experience nicer. They handed us a menu that was simple enough with quite a few varieties of entrees to choose from. For appetizer, we started off with Esan beef jerky(something we have never ordered at a Thai restaurant). It reminded me of the beef jerky the Asian moms would make at one of our house gatherings. I don’t really know how to describe the jerky but it’s different than the American one(so give it a try)! I was in the mood for some soup that night so I ordered the Yen Ta Fo Seafood. I never had this soup before so I was a little surprised when it came out really pink! I won’t question why the dish was pink… there was a good amount of seafood(e.g. mussels, shrimp) in my bowl. The noodles were these giant flat strands that were fun to eat. The level of spiciness was a 3 which was a good spicy. My boyfriend ordered the crying tiger beef dish. The beef was sooo tender! The sauce that came with it was super yummy and I probably would order that dish the next time I come here. The Thai tea was done just right, not overly sweet nor bitter. Overall, I had a good time here with my tummy leaving happily.

When I went into Bambu during my lunch hour I was quickly seated at the bar. I thought that I would be served fairly quickly since I immediately ordered a pad thai after being seated, but I was wrong. Having been sat at the bar, I unfortunately had to watch food that wasn’t mine go out of the kitchen and get served. I watched as a group of four and another couple, who were seated AFTER me, get their food served BEFORE me, finish their meal, pay, and then leave the restaurant. When the server was serving the couple who was sitting next to me, he gave me a smile and said that my food was coming up. At that point I had waited about 30 minutes already. After the server gave me some reassurance that my food was coming out soon, he avoided eye contact and turned his back towards me until the end, when he very quickly handed me my check. My food finally came out 15 minutes later, miraculously cold after coming from the kitchen, with a stray string bean in the mix, and without an ounce of spice(that I had asked for when the server asked me how spicy I wanted the dish) to combat the overbearing sweetness of the entire thing. In the restaurant, they display an award for having«the best pad thai,» but I don’t understand why. The portion is extremely small and I only had three slivers of chicken in my «chicken pad thai.» There’s nothing to talk about besides the lack of ingredients and flavor. Since I waited so long to get my food, I took three small bites(I mean small because I was so disappointed in the establishment and its food) and had to ask for a to-go box so that I could bring it back to my office. The portion that was given to me(minus three small bites) filled LESSTHANHALF of a very small Chinese take-out container(maybe 8oz?). There are much better places in the area to eat Thai food, and I wish I would have gone to another place to eat for lunch.
