Rhinebeck Dept Store is a cut above! The clothing items are tasteful and so well-​priced. I especially love the April Cornell merchandise and the personal attention from the friendly staff. Find them on Facebook for newly announced sales and special discounts.

This place is such a trip.
Apparently, this is how people used to get clothing back in the day; before Amazon, the Gap, and gargantuan malls, you walked a few blocks to the local clothing store and chose from whatever they had on hand. I vaguely remember going to shops like this in Queens when I was a tater tot. I can’t imagine many of them still exist.
I wouldn’t say that I’d be thrilled to have it as my only option if I lived in Rhinebeck, but as a living piece of old timey nostalgia it’s really rather cool.
