Located within walking distance of Omega retreat center, this B&B is an absolute gem not only because of the experience of the building, but because of the proprietor. I’ve been coming to Omega for 4 years with my mother every summer, but we were getting disgusted with the rooming situation there, where you could spend close to a thousand dollars for two people to sleep in mouse-infested, dirty, cramped rooms. By staying at Pampering we saved about $ 650 for a 2-night stay and had a phenomenal experience. Located on a single lane dirt road, it is surrounded by beautiful greenery, and has been«in the family» with Dr. Shirley Jones, a retired professor of anthropology, for 50 years. As Shirley led trips to Africa for many years, it is decorated with beautiful African art, is impeccably clean, and has a «homey» feel. There are only 2 cozy rooms(and a well-stocked bathroom with every toiletry you could want) so you get a very personalized, intimate experience. I do not know if she had wi-fi because I didn’t want to use it during the stay. There was air conditioning and fans. The best part of the stay though was Shirley herself. So warm, welcoming, conversational. She made us breakfast each morning(you can request but we had scrambled eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, and fresh fruit with coffee) and we had lovely interactions. I highly, highly recommend staying with Shirley if you’re visiting Rhinebeck or Omega. She does not have a computerized reservation system, so you have to book over the phone and send her a night’s deposit. Totally worth it!
