I called around because I needed a mover on 1 days notice to move a very heavy refrigerator into my house from a curbside delivery. This was the only company who could accommodate me. They were exceedingly polite and pleasant, almost too nice. I was charged $ 308 for a 2 hour minimum with 3 men. The movers were competent, with 1 foreman who knew what he was doing and 2 laborers. They got the fridge into my house, no damage, and that’s what I wanted. I tipped them and they were so grateful. I think they must deal with some tough customers since I had to sign a pile of forms waiving damages, pay in advance, etc.

Please do not let yourself be taken advantage of by this company; they will undoubtedly overcharge you and be relentlessly inconvenient along the way. I used Gentle Movers for my September 1st move… you know the drill, everyone moves the same day in a stressful dance designed to frustrate even the most patient character(which I am not.) When I called to schedule the move, they were very friendly and helpful. The prices seemed reasonable. PART1: THEMOVEOUT The moving team that was sent to pack all of my stuff was slow and unprepared. They took six hours to pack up a 2 bedroom apartment, half of which was still in boxes from the previous move in. They disappeared for extended periods of time. They didn’t bring enough paper to effectively wrap my dishes, so of course as a result some broke during the move. PART2: THEMOVEIN Being as I couldn’t move in until September 1st, my stuff had to spend a night with the company in their warehouse. As the team left at 6pm the day I moved out, I was told they would arrive at 9am for the move in. They didn’t show up until dinnertime. I called at least 5 times throughout the day and was always told they were on their way or would be there shortly(That is, when they deigned to answer the phone.) Then, they charged me double the amount of time it took to unpack, which equated to hundreds of dollars. There is a section in the contract that states that the customer pays for the transit time to their property. Apparently this includes their 1.5 hour dinner break. PART3: THESAGAOFBEINGOVERCHARGED I knew I was being overcharged because they presented the bill before leaving on September 1st. I vehemently disagreed with the invoice so signed for ONLY the amount of time they were on the premises plus an additional half hour of transit time.(Fair, I thought.) I then called at least 3 times to follow up on the charges to proactively make sure they were correct. The company told me they would look into it and confirm the amount before charging my credit card which was on file. Guess what they didn’t do… Learn from my mistakes — Don’t trust this company and don’t even think about using them. They will substantially overcharge you and be nothing but a hassle while they’re doing it.
