Wow. Really bad. The menu is good but the Chef couldn’t cook it. Cheese sauce over burnt veggies on the pasta was overbearing. Bison chilli wasn’t… It arrived late and looked like a crushed hamburger. Cappacciino was in a cup with soap film. Two meals arrived late … And the wine -/red was good, but the other had turned. still waiting for dessert.

Very good food and fabulous service, under difficult circumstances due to blizzard of 2016, Kader and Ysabel worked tirelessly to keep everyone well served and happy. Tavern 64 is the place you want to be especially when all things outdoors are difficult .They know how to create a welcoming environment.

Where to start! Had to stay in the Hyatt all weekend for the storm and only got to make it to Tavern 64 once. Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile by the bartender Larissa. She was very attentive for the whole experience and never had an empty drink! She recommended these awesome burger sliders that were blended with bacon and a quail egg on top. WoW they were great. Larissa made this experience wonderful for myself and my staff that was making it there! Thanks for everything!

Been here 2x and while the service is decent the food needs help. Won’t be back here. Had the scallops the first time and crab cakes the second. The scallops were blamed and the crab cakes just sucked. I expect jumbo lump crab meat with very little unnecessary filler… these had backfin meat and lost of filler. Yuck! My friend ordered the giant steak the first time a s pot roast the second. He really liked the steak and macaroni potbelly appetizer, but the pot roast was so chewy he could eat it. This place is pricey, so good food is expected to come with that price.

This place is on the first floor Hyatt hotel that my wife and I are staying at right now, so for you it would be in the past. Have not tried any food here yet but the bartender really knows his shit. If you want a top notch cocktail, but not exactly know what it may be, this dude will mix you up a serious toxin of ill brew, and I mean that in the best of all possible ways. My wife told the guy she wanted a drink with vodka and lemon, but not real sour, and he got to it and whipped out this really tasty concoction with basil and lemon and God knows what. It had everything you could want in a drink, sweet, sour, spicy undertone, and a nice booze flavor(yeah, I stole some) totally killer. I was a bit boring and ordered off the drink menu. Started with a Sazerac, yum, the absinthe almost had me hallucinating, but it was probably just the Rye, oh that stuff is good. And the next was the house version of an Old Fashioned, don’t tell mom but I had two. Really good drink. Maybe once my wife passes out I’ll go back for a third. OK, probably not, but check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

Stellar service for food allergies! I showed up at a special event with my allergies, and the chef came out, chatted with me, and designed a special plate for me on the fly. Very kind folks — and the meal was fantastic!

We did the thanksgiving buffet which was delicious. Traditional fixings which is why I selected this restaurant. Virginia turkey and ham w sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, cornbread stuffing, carrot dish, Brussels sprouts, 2 salads, butternut squash soup. Fruit, cheese, breads and sausage for starters. All locally sourced. The desserts were good, not great. No pumpkin pie but had pumpkin cupcakes w cream cheese frosting, apple bread pudding, pecan pie and chocolate cake. They need to add fresh whipped cream to the dessert table. And move green beans to end of buffet since they don’t retain heat as well as other foods. Service was good, ambience was quiet even though they were fairly full. There wasn’t usually a line at the buffet unless a large group came in and all headed to the buffet at once. Overall my husband is now convinced that going out for thanksgiving is better then cooking. Win!

Came here for brunch and overall, I think it was sub-par. I got the bay chowder soup and it wasn’t all that great, the corn muffin was bland and not very good. For brunch, I got the breakfast sandwich and that was done pretty well, as well as the side salad. The meat was a lot thicker than I expected and it looked like spam almost. Coffee and service was good, but I’ve experience better food and will not be coming back here again.

High expectations based on the menu. Was expecting farm to table cuisine, but was underwhelmed. Service was painfully slow. Meats and sausages looked like they came straight from a vacuum sealed package. Left after one drink and appetizers.

Fantastic dining experience! 5-star all the way-from entering to exiting, it was a truly memorable customer service experience. Not only was the staff exquisite, but the GM/FOH Manager was very visible and helpful in expediting food for a hungry toddler and suggesting off-the-menu drinks for a thirsty guest. Food was amazing. Presentation was impressive. Décor and atmosphere super. Will be back!!! Must eats: Pork belly and Mac & Cheese Sliders(OMG, a fried egg on top? Yes, please!) Scallops & Bacon(entrée) Love the local wine & food options too!

This last week on August 28th I attended a good friends surprise birthday party. The host reserved a private room for 30 guests. Initially everything seemed very well managed and we even had two managers waiting to assist. Where it went sideways was after guest started ordering drinks. Seemed that we had to be seated before we could order which is fine for organizing order placement. What I dislike is that not one person from our server or idle managers informed us that a minimum hold of $ 50.00 would be placed on our cards for 5 – 7 business days! Beverage quality was mid grade on the spirits and the same for beer. Price was a bit high for a snifter of bourbon at $ 14 for one ounce, beer was priced fairly for 16oz glass. Dinner was a catastrophe. The server was energetic, but one guy for 30 is pushing it. The managers stood around clueless and not one of them pulled up any slack to assist. Many of the orders where mixed up. My date had to return her entrée twice and her fries weren’t even warm, just cold and soggy. The bill, oh boy it keeps getting worse. Initially I was standing at $ 168 for two people which seem on the high side. There were several drinks and food items on my ticket from other guests. Getting the bill corrected was a chore in its self. 3rd times the charm. $ 114 and a mandatory 18% gratuity included due to our party size, understandable if the service warrants it. Finally free from the clutches of Tavern 64! Well not quite, as I said the $ 50.00 hold stays on your card for a week and a mysterious second charge which cannot be explained by the manager at Tavern 64 reston for $ 107! After speaking with the restaurant manager Larisa, she stated that there wasn’t anything that could be done to rectify this unfortunate situation. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone not even my enemies. The experience was horrible and the managers are the main weakness at this establishment. Your team is only as strong as your leadership. They just don’t have the skill to do a good job at all.

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner on our way to Wolf Trap for a show later in the evening. To be honest, I never walk down to their end(they are part of the Hyatt hotel) of the Town Center and didn’t know they even existed. I looked on «another app» for a table beforehand and found them that way. It was a quiet Sunday evening around 6pm when we arrived. There was a small crowd at the bar but the rest of the restaurant was mostly empty and stayed that way even after we left an hour or so later. We were warmly greeted and quickly shown to our table. Service is definitely a highlight here. Our server Kader was awesome and took great care of us. My wife couldn’t decide among their beer choices what she wanted and Kader didn’t blink an eye at running back and forth to the bar a couple of times for samples. I do wish they had a printed beer menu in addition to their chalkboard to make picking easier. After settling on an IPA and lager, we both selected their bison burger with a mixed greens side. There were several TVs as well as a guy changing his clothes in his car parked on the street to entertain us while waiting for the burgers to cook. Kader stopped by a couple of times as well to see how we were doing and chat us up. Before we knew it our awesome burgers arrived. Initial impressions were wow that is more like a side salad than just a mixed greens side with pickled red onions(yum), tomatoes, cabbage and cucumbers. The burger itself had a fresh buttered brioche bun(ca ching on the calorie meter) and giant patty. We struggled a bit to finish it off but it was really delicious. If you have never had bison, don’t worry as it tastes very similar to lean ground beef and I honestly forgot it was a bison burger after ordering it. This place sources everything locally so I felt good about helping the local economy. The food was truly good and prices very reasonable to boot. Combine all this with their awesome service and you won’t go wrong.

Surprisingly very good for a restaurant located in the Hyatt Regency Reston! This farm to table restaurant is very quaint and comfortable, the service was good and the food was fresh, tasty and made it hard to choose what to order since everything on the menu sounded good. I had the duck with cherry and loved it, but could have ordered just about anything on the menu and been quite happy. I would definitely revisit when back in the area for business or pleasure.

So this place really needs some work. First, let’s start with the drinks. We ordered lemonade and iced tea. The lemonade didn’t taste freshly squeezed and the tea didn’t taste like freshly brewed tea. That was a bad start, but I held out hope that the food would be better than the drink. We placed our orders. One of us ordered soup in addition to the entrée. Thirty minutes later and the soup still hadn’t arrived. I will add that this was a slow brunch and the restaurant was half-empty. Also, I know the soup is already made; how does it take thirty minutes to put some soup in a bowl? There were wait staff and someone who looked like a manager walking past our table during this thirty minutes, and during that entire time nobody came to apologize for the wait or offer to check on our order. I honestly have had better service at chain restaurants. Finally the soup arrived, followed by the entrees a few minutes later. Things rapidly decline from here. When the food arrived, they put the wrong dishes down in front of each one of us, and my husband’s order was completely missing. So he had to wait even longer with no food in front of him, while the rest of us had to choose between eating without him or letting our food get cold. I ordered the cheese soup and the biscuits with«sausage gravy.» I put that in quotes because the gravy was made with bacon – had actual pieces of bacon in it – and had no sausage flavor at all. Why would you put«sausage gravy» on your menu and then serve gravy that tastes like bacon? If I wanted something that tasted of bacon, I would have ordered bacon. Plus, in all the many times that I have ordered biscuits with sausage gravy(at other restaurants), the gravy has always come on top of the biscuits. This was served with a bowl of gravy to the side of a couple biscuits(and no spoon for the gravy). On to the soup. The menu said that the soup contained«root vegetables.» So I was expecting there to be pieces of root vegetables in the soup. What actually arrived was soup with tiny bits of dehydrated vegetable on top. That would be ok if they tasted good and added something to the soup, but they didn’t. These little bits were dry and chewy with an unpleasant texture between my teeth. So, overall, this was a hugely disappointing experience. There are so many other decent places in the town center. There is no reason to stop here.

We just got married was staying at the hyatt and decided to stay close buy and try the Resturant. Tony our server was great the Resturant manger send over free champaign and at the end of our amazing meal send our over a desert. We have the ribeye and pork-chops food was amazing. There was a great menu will all local vegetables and homemade items. Really nice Resturant would recommend if you in the area stop by and check this place out. The manger was very nice guy we had a chance to talk about the area and gave us some recommendations about local spots. Keep up the great work guys and that’s for a great meal. George P

Looking for a place for a Christmas dinner, Tavern 64 was one of the few places that popped up. I wish I had gone with my first choice, McCormick and Schmidt’s instead. The entrance to the restaurant is to the right of the hotel lobby. The décor is super cool, but thats about it. Since it was Christmas, they had a limited menu which was extremely disappointing. They had a buffet and then our server mentioned either a ham dinner, beef dinner or a whole fish. I don’t eat ham or beef, so asked about the fish which she said came with the head, tail and bones in… so the description was quite accurate! Eating a fish with a head on and bones is not my idea of a nice dinner — yuck. We didn’t do the buffet which looked like it could have been set up in grandma’s house. Their warming plates were Corel-looking casserole dishes. Seriously. They were white with little blue flowers painted on the side. I would have expected big stainless steel buffet servers. We asked if there were other options for dinner and were brought another short menu. I decided to order the quinoa risotto with butternut squash. It was nothing I’d order again. The fiancé had a chicken sandwich and decided to get the oreo cheesecake for dessert. We had to go get it ourselves from the buffet table. I have no idea how long it had been sitting out, but was so soft I could only scoop it up so it came out looking like a big blob on a plate. A completely unremarkable dinner on Christmas except for the fact that I’ll remember it as a big mistake coming here.

I visited Tavern 64 in the Reston Town Center a few weeks ago. It’s located in the Hyatt Hotel and you have to go through the hotel lobby to get to this restaurant if you’re coming from the center of the town center. I visited for lunch and ordered the Bay Chowder(scallops, clams, rockfish, potatoes, tomato broth, and cornbread pudding). Though the soup wasn’t large, it was substantial enough and they were generous with the seafood. My main issue with this restaurant was the service — they were very slow to come over with water and to take my order, even though the restaurant was very empty. I tried to get their attention several times and they finally came to my table 10 minutes later. I doubt I’d visit again because of their slow service, but the food was quite decent!

First of all, this restaurant is located inside of the Hyatt hotel but has some outdoor seating as well. You can park in the Hyatt parking garage and they will validate your parking. I ended up going here for a group dinner and we were seated at a long country style table. The décor is very nice. The chairs weren’t very comfortable but it is a pretty classy place overall. I ordered the bison burger which was delicious and they provided the table with cornbread and cranberry butter, which I loved. Apparently the menu is seasonal so I will have to go back and try their fall menu.

Review is the bar. All things considered, I’ve probably had one of the worst old fashion’s the last time I came here this past Saturday evening. The first few times were unimpressive at best, but at least the waiter I had and I’m assuming the bartender that was working the bar was accommodating. This past time was quite bad. I will say I came pretty late considering it was around 12:30−1AM in Reston, however the hours listed are til 2AM. My friend and I were also trying to grab at least one drink. The cocktail menu looked impressive and I stick to my guns and order an Old Fashion. The menu states that it is made with muddled fruit along with Bowman Brothers Bourbon, bitters, and orange simple syrup. The first time I came here, I asked if they could not muddle the fruit and instead use a burnt orange peel. Not bad considering, however at $ 12 a cocktail I would much rather just head to DC and get a much better cocktail. This past time, I asked the bartender working if he could do the same and I ended up basically with already orange wheels without the fruit, a lot of water, and rail whiskey for the same price. Um, what? Once asking the bartender to make another after critiquing the drink, he had somewhat of an attitude in response, as if he was doing a favor. I reminded him that at the price charged for the drink, I might as well get a really good drink in the city or anywhere else for that matter. The bar manager I assumed came and apologized and I was not charged for the new drink(I believe they used the rail whiskey). However, with that fiasco in mind I find it hard to believe that a place under the Hyatt could charge $ 11-$ 13 a cocktail in Reston and not deliver. It boggles my mind since they have quite a bit of really good whiskey and craft bitters at the bar. You know only to stir a Manhattan, but muddle fruit for an Old Fashioned? I’ve had the Lady Randolph’s Request, which had Cactoctin Creek Rye, antica vermouth, and bitters. Although good, at $ 13, its pricey being in Reston. If you’re looking for a place for a decent drink in Reston, you might as well just head to Jackson’s or Ted’s Bulletin, which are honestly better(and cheaper). Can’t speak on the food, but the bar service is lacking as well as the drinks. You’re much better off just driving towards the city if you want a craft cocktail.

Post-Brunch visit review update: 3 stars(2.5) After a stellar 4-star dinner(see original review), I promised to return for brunch, with high hopes. Unfortunately, we were less than impressed with their brunch. A great deal of our disappointment comes from inconsistency between their online menu and our server’s ability to articulate their menu offerings. Their website posts a menu that boasts items such as a Greek yogurt parfait, mixed fruits, and other tantalizing side items. The board outside of the restaurant promises brunch from 11 – 3 on weekends. However, we showed up at 11:30 for our reservation, and we see a beautiful smörgåsbord of a buffet laid out centrally in the restaurant. We ask our waiter how much for the buffet, he says«20.» Cool! Well, not so fast. He then tells us, «It’s closed now.» What?! You close your buffet before noon on a Sunday? He then says, «Well, it’s been closed since 11(it’s now close to 12). But you can go eat what’s left.» Gross — no way! So not only do we now only have a limited offering of breakfast-y items on the actual paper menu from which to choose, but we’ve firmly established the strange service we were to receive the remainder of our visit. Breakfast menu items range from a Benedict to a couple of omelettes to peach pancakes and a French toast offering. Sides are pretty much just bacon or sausage or potatoes. Some lunch-type salads and sandwiches are available. I built my own omelette, and it seemed like they don’t charge you based on the number of items, so that was a positive. Omelette was pretty small, especially for $ 12. Hubby ordered the moonshine pulled pork sandwich after being denied the buffet; the pork was dry, the French fries had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while, so it was not worth the price. Coffee refills were very spotty, service was awkward, and I just don’t think Tavern 64 will be on our regular brunch radar. However, if they fix their menus and actually do a weekend buffet the right way(opened past 11), we would reconsider.
