I want to start off by saying the location is excellent. I love the number of clothing stores around and the variety or restaurants in such close proximity. My friend and her husband wanted to meet up for a nice Saturday night dinner. They suggest ATR. Since my fiancé and I are new to the area we agreed to it. Comes Saturday night, we arrive and wait on our hostess to sit us down. As I look around the room, I take in the atmosphere. It’s very intimate. I love how there is a fireplace in the middle of the room, it gives it a «homey» feeling. We finally sat down and waited for our friends to arrive. We literally sat by the fireplace, all throughout my dinner experience I could feel the heat on my back, literally. I was sweating the whole time. So uncomfortable. I kept the water coming. As for the food, I ordered the Fried Chicken Salad it wasn’t anything too special. Just 5SMALL fried chicken pieces thrown in a bed of Romaine Salad with ranch dressing on it. Boring. And disappointing. My fiancé had their Tap Room Burger, he told me various times throughout his eating experience that his burger was a «big mess. Never again.» I tried a few of his French Fries and they were pretty good. Crunchy with a little spice to it. That was literally the best thing I had there besides my Cocktail. I ordered the B-8 and it was GOOD. A refreshing cocktail. Minty. I high recommend it. My girlfriend got the Cobb Salad. It looked just as sad as mine. And her husband got the Chicken and Waffles. Which honestly looked better than any of the other entrees. He ate ALLOFIT. So I can assume he was happy with his food. For a burger with French fries, a salad, 2 beers and a cocktail drink it totaled to $ 64.00. $ 64.00 we will never get back. I was excited about trying this place out but, it’s honestly not that great. We paid way too much for food that was mediocre. Never again. There are better places out there.

For a night spot in Reston this place definitely brings a crowd. I came on a Saturday night so its understandable as to why it would be crowded. DJ comes on around 11. If they’re going to have a live DJ, instead of cutting the space in half which the only leave the bar section open. They section off the DJ to only the bar area so its shoulder to shoulder when its packed when they have all this open wasted space in the dining area. They should definitely make use of the extra space. Also never trust a DJ who uses a mouse and doesn’t DJ with a macbook pro. DJ plays a pre loaded mix and presses play doesn’t actually mix songs or transition them.

Went there last night after catching a movie in the town center. They have a great drink selection and there is plenty room around the bar. For appetizers we got the Brussels sprouts and the fried calamari. The Brussels sprouts had bits of bacon with a balsamic reduction on top and they were delicious. The calamari was ok but sorta lacked flavor. For my entrée I went with a new dish, chicken marsala. It was good, but I though it was just an ok chicken marsala. Over all ok place to grab some drinks and food.

Our server was very accommodating until his boss asked very aggressively about 4 times if my friend and I would like a shot of tequila(we did not). We were not there to get drunk or drink an excessive amount, however the manager kept telling me about the high alcohol percentage beers and shots they had. It was very uncomfortable.

I came here a few months while I worked at a conference. Reston always seems to be buzzing with people. I came for a drink after dinner and it was mellow. The waitress gave us pretty good choices off of the menu. Only problem was that evening it started to pour and they didn’t have enough outdoor umbrellas to accommodate the outside diners. We made friends were our table mates to the right and sat closer to them which was a tad bit awkward since they were pretty buzzed and playing heads up = kind of loud.

Had lunch here today with my wife and my five kids aged 7 – 16. We eat out more than we should, so although we’re a big family, we’ve got expectations for a restaurant. The waiter did his best. Our bill was $ 130 and I tipped $ 25 despite our experience. After being sat our waiter was quick to serve us drinks and get our order. He was great. I wasn’t really hungry but was into getting a quality(delicious) meal, so I asked for the ribeye to split with my wife. The waiter recommended the filet but said the ribeye was good. I have to say that I normally order rib eyes at outback, longhorn, Sweetwater(in Sterling which is much better and less expensive), and I also cut and cook ribeye’s myself. I am familiar with the cut of meat. We ordered it medium well because my wife likes it well done. This is normally a problem for me with filets but ribeyes are so marbled that the cooking temperature doesn’t matter as much. We brought this up with our waiter and he called the manager over. He said that the steak could be cooked. We said that the steak did not need to be cooked but the steak was the worst we have ever had in a restaurant. The manager took the steak back and brought us a hamburger, which he charged us for, as a gift for the steak being so bad. The hamburger was a disappointment as well. We did not choose to take this up with the manager anymore as the poor quality of our meal should have been comped. We also ordered a dessert that the waiter implied would be comped but was not. This was the worst meal we have ever had when dining out with our family, and we dine out with our family about four times a week. I recommend you go out to eat anywhere in Reston but if all possible avoid this restaurant. As a matter of fact if you have the opportunity dine at Sweetwater in Sterling Virginia instead. For a $ 155 bill, I would expect a manager to make the service and quality of the food correct. Sadly this manager just wanted to make his job easier and saw us as adversaries to his performance. We will never dine here again and recommend you don’t either. Save yourself the trouble and go to someplace much better. This is not it.

I would’ve really liked to give this place at least a 4 star rating but sadly it lacked in service and quality. The wait for a table on a Friday night was very short so that was a plus, but the wait for our waiter to start us off with drinks took a good 10mins, then once we were ready to order the server was nowhere to be found… I’m sure he was trying his best and was probably occupied but they had a lot more waiters than tables. The food was decent, I had ordered the bourbon steak which came with mushrooms and baked potato. The plate was FILLED with mushrooms, the steak was good but just had a lot more fat for my taste. We then waited for the waiter to come take our order for desert, long wait as well, yet once we order the dessert took a good 20−25mins to come out. Sucks because I’m sure this place has a lot of potential, maybe it just wasn’t a good night. Especially since it was a Friday, they had a DJ which played his music so incredibly loud, my group had difficulty hearing each other. I’ll consider trying this place out another day other than the weekend but not any time soon.

I am a Sports Junkies listener and they are having their Washington football pregame show next several Sundays at this Reston location. It’s to Uncle Julios at RTC. I wasnt sure if this place was appropriate for a toddler but sure enough, they are fine with kids dining at this establishment. We were greeted by the host as we walked in and were promptly seated. I saw they had a brunch buffet so no need to look at the menu. Although if you wanted to order from the menu, you could of course! It’s $ 20.00 per person and kids eat free under 5! The place isnt huge with bar area and bar stools and bar tables on the right with dining area in the middle and towards the left side. There is also outside seating for warmer days. Brunch items included sweets/pastries, bacon/sausage, salads, chicken fingers and mac n cheese, cold cuts, cheese, hummus and pita triangles, roast beef, MTO(made to order) waffles, chicken tenders/waffles, some kind of sweet dessert casserole, MTO omlette station, and a couple entrees to choose from. Lest I forget cereal and oatmeal station too. Food was quite good and so was the service! We will be back next Sunday! :)

Quality of the lunch was great, shrimp was well done grilled, portion was good size compared to other places. Rice was okay, nothing special . Sweet potato was a good addition.

My review is based on the customer service I received and the two appetizers I tried. My server was AWESOME. It took some time to get his attention, but in his defense it was 11pm on a Saturday night and I was sitting at the tables outside. Once I got his attention, his was really nice and attentive. My order came out quickly, and he even came to check on me a couple times. I ordered the Thai ATR wings and fried pickles. The pickles were delicious! There was just enough breading and the pickles were sliced into large, thick pieces. The sauce that it came with was super spicy and I absolutely loved it! The wings were hot, cooked perfectly, and the thai sauce on the outside was tangy with a kick. The wings had a good amount of meat on it, which I always love. There was just enough crispiness to the skin, and it held the sauce well. I’ve always wanted to try the food here, and if this is what the appetizers were like on a busy Saturday night, I’m sure the entrees are just as good, if not better.

I came here for brunch this past weekend and I didn’t realize that it was a buffet before coming(mistake on my part) but for $ 20 it was WAY overpriced. With the options they had, the price was not worth the food, at least throw in some mimosas(they’re extra). Pros: They had a nice array of options– roast beef, chicken and waffles, stuffed french toast(delicious!!), create your own omelette bar, mac n cheese(second favorite), and some other stuff. I liked that they had foods for geared towards both adults and children. Cons: Like I stated before, price was too over the top for what they were offering. The food was also mediocre on taste. Most of the food needed a lot more flavor and/or salt. Their dessert bar was horrendous, they had these mini cake bites that had SOMUCH sugar you could feel the crunch of it as you chewed through them, and for breakfast?! Hmm… questionable. In the end, I probably wouldn’t come here again for their brunch unless they had a menu I could choose from instead of opting for the buffet.

I BLACKWORMCRAWLEDOUTOFMYBURGER!!! Went to ATR on Saturday– everything in the town center was packed with a wait, besides ATR– that should have been a sign right there. I have been to this resturant in the past and have never had any issues. I took a bite of my burger and as I put it down this little black worm came squirming out. I killed it with my fork so I could show the manager. The manager was nice enough to cover our meals, BUT when he was explaining that he needed to make sure he checked for the fruit flies, i had to stop him and explain«Ummm Sir, it was a worm that I cut in half to show you guys as I didn’t want it crawling off of my plate» They gave us a $ 25 gift card. I will never eat at this god damn place EVERAGAIN!!!

I had a very positive experience at the Tap Room. I like the atmosphere, although it can get a bit loud at times. Great beer selection, great service and really good staff. One time me and my boyfriend flew to town late and checked in nearby to a hotel. It was late and there was no open restaurants or bars anywhere. We went to Tap Room asking if their kitchen was open. It was their manager who said that the kitchen was closed. Asked us what we wanted. We explained that we were after long trip and had nowhere else to eat and he said let me quickly fix you two burgers! It was so amazing of him to offer us that even though the kitchen was already close. Truly great! I enjoy the bar area where staff is very attentive. Everything always goes smooth and always on time. They do care about customers! After that I had been there for dinner, to watch Super Bowl and another time just for a drink. Every time had good experience.

Was down in the area for a kayak certification course last April, and got the chance to stop in here for dinner one night, Sat at the bar and was greeted by two VERY friendly bartenders, I am a big advocate for local beers, and asked what they had that was local… they had a great local selection.(after i explained that Delaware was not local) … they gave me a really nice IPA from about 15 minutes away(sorry, can’t remember the name… Something Rhino Something…) I then asked them for what i should have for dinner… without missing a beat they both said«the jambalaya» … i said sold, and they brought out this HUGE plate of food… I told them i felt bad cause i wasn’t that hungry and probably couldn’t eat it all(but i had to get it after that recommendation)… they said«Sure sir.» and walked away… 10 minutes later they returned to see me wiping the plate up with the last of my bread… i hadn’t had better outside of NOLA … in a long time… This place knows their stuff! And so does their staff! Cheers~!

I came here to have a beer at the bar. The Drink Menu had a beer list with no prices! Unbelievable and arrogant. So basically if you order a beer you have to embarrassingly have to ask the price, or trust the bartender that he or she won’t rip you off! I have never seen a restaurant without drink prices! Shame on the management.

I ordered the salmon with mushrooms and spinach and it was excellent. We sat outside in the Smoke Free Outdoor Seating. Unfortunately, it’s NOT smoke free as there were several smokers just outside of the gated seating area. The smokers stood so close they actually leaned on the gate and even rested their drinks on the outdoor seating area tables. It was very smokey. My friend and I hoped that someone from the restaurant would speak up about the obnoxious smokers and ask them to move further away to reduce to thickness of the smoke but that never happened. Because it is advertised as a smoke free outdoor seating area we were pretty disappointed. The waiter was good, service was good, food was excellent. If there truly was a smoke free outdoor seating area we would return. Until then we are on to other adventures.

I’ve gone here a few times to catch up with friends and get some drinks. Really good place for that. Their bartenders make delicious drinks(ask for Phallyn, she is the best bartender in my opinion). The environment is very relaxing, yet upbeat at the same time. It’s definitely good for some one on one or small groups for the bar area, but the seating is great for bigger groups. Haven’t had a chance to try the food, but I’ve only heard good things. Definitely a place I don’t mind spending my money at.

Showed up on a Sunday around 130. They serve brunch until 3 but have a lunch menu available upon request. I can only rate the place based on the 2 salads that I had. One was a seared tuna and the other was grilled caesar salad. Huge fan of the grilled salads to begin with, something about char on lettuce. Delish! The tuna salad was average but the dressing was very good. I mixed the 2 salads together and that was probably the best thing I could have done. The lemon picked up the char and sang to me. The brunch had a variety of things but looked a little picked over.

Stopped by American Tap Room inbetween Jacksons and World of Beer, and I’d say I was pleasantly surprised. The crowd eating dinner and the crowd at the bar was drastically different, in a good way. The dining area had more of a sit down, more formal of a feel, while the bar was fun and laid back. Not to mention they were playing pretty good music. Enjoyed a flight of beer samples which showcased a good array for beers. The server was on point, and the Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls were a gift sent down from heavens. They were that good. Overall had an enjoyable time!

Estive no American TAP room em busca de um bom hamburger e uma boa cerveja. Era um Sábado a noite, com muitos eventos esportivos. A casa estava cheia.

I’m not sure why this place got such low reviews — I am a big fan of this American Tap Room location! I had previously visited the Clarendon location and had also had a great experience. I treated my boyfriend out to dinner here a few weeks ago and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. It’s classy, but still casual. And there’s a large bar where people can watch sports games(it can actually be kind of annoying if you’re trying to eat your dinner in the classier section). The service was great and the food was delicious — I ordered the ahi tuna salad and it was a perfect portion. We also ordered the tap tap shrimp as an appetizer and it was tasty as well! My bf also enjoyed his burger. The food just tasted great all around. I really recommend this place! Great food, decent prices, and nice atmosphere.
