Arts Saab

My boyfriend came into Art’s shop today with my 2003 Saab. My boyfriend has been tirelessly been trying to fix my car to no avail for the past 2 weeks. My BF’s uncle owns a shop & has always done my repairs but my 2003 proved to be an enigma to him. After 2 weeks of immense stress and no progress we took my car to Art.
I was terrified to bring it to a new mechanic. I called one shop and they wanted $ 60 just to run the diagnostic. Art only asked for $ 40.
My BF has been in a very stressful position as I work full time, and between both of us I am the only one with a car. Every day for the past 2 weeks my guy has been trying SO HARD to get my car in order so I can get to work and back safely. He has even taken the bus to the mechanic and spent several hours finding new parts for my poor little car.
BF told Art all our issues and the immense stress we’ve been under and he did the diagnostic at no charge.
To say that this kindness is appreciated is a gross understatement. THANK YOU.

Hung did a lot of work on my 2003 9 3 convertible… his price was great… his work was great… he was fast. I will use only Hung him from now on! (Before he was recommended I had other estimates that were all higher and for work that didn’t really need to be done) He is very honest.

Best SAAB shop in the Valley and beyond. Hung is honest, friendly, fair, and supremely knowledgeable. Won’t take my 900 or 9 – 3 anywhere else!

Grew up with SAAB cars in Sweden and met master mechanic Hung at Studio City SAAB, owner of A.R.T. SAAB, when working for SAAB in the 90’s. I drive from Irvine with my SAAB 9000 Aero & SAAB 9 – 5 Aero because there is nobody more skilled and/​or helpful SAAB mechanic in SoCal than Hung. I used to be pre-​owned director for a few SAAB stores so I’m selective. Would like to clone Hung.

My Saab didn’t pass the smog check, so I called up Hung and once again he came to the rescue. He made the necessary repairs and even took it to get it tested to pass. Thanks again!

What can I say that hasn’t been said already. Sad that Hung only works on Saabs! Can’t be beat. I’ve been running to him regularly since finding him on Unilocal over 2 years ago. Bought a Saab convertible for my daughter and Hung has essentially rebuilt it since then with a sense of humor and honesty that I never thought possible from an auto mechanic. This guy deserves all the praise he gets and then some. I’m moving to Florida and hope to find someone half as good as him and I’ll consider myself lucky (or an ex-​Saab owner).

Arts Saab is probably the best Saab shop in Southern California. Hung (the owner) is super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and (above all) trustworthy. You can rest assured that he will take good care of your Saab at a very fair price. I have an ’88 900 turbo convertible and I take it to Hung almost exclusively (aside from small jobs here and there) and he has always done a top notch job, usually in the same day, and he is always straight with the customer about what needs doing and what can wait.
I don’t do too many reviews on Unilocal anymore, but I wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise for Hung. He truly deserves your business, and your Saab deserves a mechanic like him! He is also open on Saturdays from 10 to 2.

Won’t take my ’03 Saab anywhere else. Hung is a Saab genius and can diagnose any problem you have very quickly. He’s kind, honest, and very reasonable with his quotes. His shop could use some cleaning but it seems to work fine for them. Would recommend this place to anyone with a Saab who lives in the valley

I come here regularly for oil changes and Art’s Saab is the best!
They also helped me with my radio code for my 9 – 5 (and for free)! Which is a common prob with the ’03 9 – 5 when you yank the battery out (unfortunately)

Art Saab (and Hung) are GREAT! I got a couple lingering issues fixed last night. What would have taken a few days at the dealership (and probably over a thousand dollars) only took a couple hours (and less money).
As everyone described — the shop is quite messy, a bit of a disaster, but I feel it adds to the charm. Hung knows what he’s doing and is nice and fair and that’s all that matters.
I will definitely be back. Finding this shop will definitely extend the life of my car!

Believe the reviews. He’s the best. So honest and knowledgable. He’ll make it work. Worth the trip. I would not go anywhere else.
I have a 2000 9 – 3 convertible, which was starting to stall and die. Hung found the problem (old hose) fixed it very quickly, and it’s been running like a top ever since.

After calling more than 5 shops in the L. A area to fix an issue with my Saab 93 viggen convertible top, all refused after hearing the word saab. Hung answers the phone and says «No problem, bring it…». The shop looks messy but all you see is saabs being worked on everywhere. After a quick diagnostics he goes for the less expensive option that will fix the problem. He really took his time and he did not considered his job finished until everything was aligned perfectly. He was happy to answers any questions and explained to me what was going on in detail. Bottom line, he works in your car like it was his. If you have a Saab there is no other place to go.

While this garage kind of looks like a mess, Hung is very helpful and honest. I feel great about fixing my daughters SAAB here. I highly recommend it

I moved to the west coast and needed a new place to get my Saab maintenance work done. After calling around Arts had the best reviews and was able to take my car the same weekend. When you get to the area it’s not the most refined looking neighborhood. However Arts was busy working on a series of other saabs. Looks like all he does is work on saabs. It’s amazing. My car was fixed for a. Honest cost. So far so good. I’ll definitely go back!

I never ever to write Unilocal reviews, but I feel compelled given my dilemma… so here I am. Today I started looking for a new car and soon realized that the hardest thing to replace is not going to be the car, it’ll be impossible to replace Hung. I’ve ran the usual maintenance cost analysis and looked far and wide for a convertible with the latest creature comforts, but found that although I can get the latest technology with a different manufacturer I may never find an honest mechanic to maintain it. I am literally deferring a car purchase, because I cannot trust that I’ll find another Hung… dammit SAAB why did you stop making cars!!!
Next time I visit Hung I’ll be on my hands and knees begging him to please, please take a look whatever car I buy… I just hope he’ll consider looking at it even if it’s not a SAAB :(

I’ found art saab in the phone book back in 99. the owner and his wife were lovely solid people. The new owner hung is the best! I trust him!

Hung is the BEST. If you own a Saab there is no other place to go!
Honest, helpful, kind, reasonable prices, explains things well, and truly goes the extra mile for everyone. Amazing. I’m beyond thankful every time I go in!

I found this place by accident, while having my car detailed around the corner. Our 9 – 3 Turbo had blown a brake light and I stopped in hoping Hung would have a replacement bulb. We also had a driver side window that would roll up, then roll down 5 inches and stop (possibly interference with the moulding). Hung ran a diagnostic to clear the window memory, and hunted for the bulb. He didn’t have one in stock, but charged us exactly 0 dollars for the diagnostic and checking of the tail-​light circuit. I will definitely be back.
Oh, and don’t let the look of the shop turn you away. He seems to be an honest guy who apparently really knows his Saabs…

Hung, the mechanic here (at I believe it’s ART SAAB) is absolutely AMAZING!
Let me tell you:
My family has been driving Saabs exclusively since before I can remember and Hung has pretty much been servicing them the whole time (20+ years).
Often I bring in my Saab, thinking it needs brakes and oil done, but Hung will tell me that the brakes are fine… unlike other mechanics who would just go ahead and replace everything you tell them to whether it needed to be done or not.
He gives you like a 3,000 mile warranty on most services and his prices are SO affordable, that I just get everything fixed every time. He can find you used Saab parts so you’re not paying an arm and a leg for new ones and he does this very quickly. I never had any problems after he fixed my Saabs, and my family drives older ones (we have two 1995 Saab 9000’s)
Basically, Hung is the Saab god! He knows everything there is to know about them and has every part you might need. If i were to buy a non-​Saab car, I’d be hard-​pressed to find another mechanic as good as Hung. So for now, as long as Art saab is around, I’m sticking with Saabs.
