5 Stars to the owners — funny, friendly and glad to see you every time! Celebrating my b-day lunch with my BFF and ordered a glass of wine. Owner asks for my ID — thank you at 60! LOL We both ordered the Hot & Sour soup which was a bit too spicy for our white selves — still very flavorful, especially with the fresh cilantro. I ordered the chicken pad thai w/extra peanut sauce and it was excellent — lots of tender chicken, green onions and bean sprouts. BFF ordered the chicken yakisoba and loved it — next time we will try the Thai Angel and Larb salad, too. A lot of food for a very reasonable price. Specials each day listed on the board by the front door. GO!

Phở is good… So are the fried egg rolls… Rest of the food is average but the customer service is awesome!

Mai Thai has the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. The owners are so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They have crazy good memories… seems like it takes only a couple of visits before they remember their customers’ names and orders! I always get the chicken phad tai(old style) with extra green onions. yum!

Overpriced; Greasy; Not worth it. I found Ting Tong Thai is much better.

I found this place by chance on a bike ride through Renton, but I’m so glad I found this place. The owner is friendly and always recognizes us by name. And the food is always great and they can pretty much make anything vegetarian, for me. I’ve had the Vegetarian Phở(finest around). I’ve had the Thai fried rice(great). I’ve had the Pad See Ew with tofu and vegetables(best around), and the Papaya salad(Lao style is best). It’s all very well made and always very good.

The papaya salad was the best thing this place had to offer. My chicken phở was bland and was the smallest portion size ever. The Singapore noodles with chicken was ok, nothing to write home about. Needless to say I won’t be back, and if I do it’s to get the papaya salad to go.

Mai Thai & Phở is a great restaurant. The food is fresh, authentic and delicious. My personal favorites are the Pad See Eiw and the Pad Khee Mao. Both with pork and either a level 2 or 3 of spiciness. The owners, who are also the waiters/hostess are some of the nicest people ever. We’ve been there a few times now and each time they’re smiling, happy, and incredibly helpful. The Pad Thai is not our favorite dish here, nor is the Pork Puhlo(sp?). While the flavor was great, the BBQ pork(Char Siu) was way overcooked. As for the ambiance, the restaurant is located in the same corner as a 7 – 11 and a gas station. There is a decent amount of parking since they have the corner spot in this little strip mall. The restaurant itself is a little run down and dated. Booths line the walls with rows of tables neatly lined up inside, offering the most seating possible. When you walk in, there is a stack of rugs that are taped down to each other and to the floor with duct tape/electrical tape. The booths are a bit understuffed and worn as well. Most of the food we’ve had here though is still some of the best Thai food that we’ve had in the Seattle area since our trip to Bangkok in the fall, and the service here more than makes up for the ambiance — quick fix, order take out.(Side note, they’re way way way nicer/attentive than Mali Thai in Tukwila.)

What the Phở? This was my first time trying this place. I stopped in since it was close and got decent reviews. It’ll be my last time though. The Thai food is supposed to be good, but I ordered the phở since it’s a rainy day– $ 6.95 for a medium which is the size of a small at other Phở places. I’m bothered by this place. It’s not that the flank was tough and chewy, or that the broth wasn’t that flavorful. It was that when the bill came they tried to overcharge me and it wasn’t even a mistake. They charged me $ 7.95, I told them I got the medium and not large and they said, I know –tax. When I inquired about WA tax being 10% — the man barked«Just pay me $ 7.95!». Now in the grand scheme of things the .34 cents is not big. But it’s the principle and pretty shady just to round up. I asked again about tax being 10% and the woman intervened and charged me the correct price. But it took some effort. I just wonder how many checks they’re doing this to???

Seafood dish for lunch(see pic). Excellent flavors. Just right amount of heat @ 3! The Phở bowls around me looked like something I need to try next time! I remembered the name Pad Thai Talay.

I’ll try any where that serves sticky rice in a basket, so I gave Mai Thai a shot after seeing the photos here on Unilocal — I wasn’t disappointed! I’m a total fatty, so I like to get a little bit of everything to try. They have on the menu«Phở Katew» but if you’re familiar with Lao or Mien dishes, it’s the same thing as Kasoy. It was amazing! So amazing that I went twice in a span of 3 days. The only dish I wasn’t a fan of was the Pad Thai. Even though it was 3 stars, it tasted too heavily of peanuts and nothing else. Not a fan of my Pad Thai tasting like peanut-butter, so that was a no-go. Everything else was super delicious though. I ordered my mom the chicken yakisoba and she said it was probably the best she’d ever had and very flavorful. Both the male and female who work there(who I assume are a couple and own the place) are so sweet and friendly. They joked around the whole time and provided really great service. If Mai Thai wasn’t so far from me, I would be a regular. I’ll make it a point to go there any time I’m in the area though.

I was craving Thai food on my first night in Seattle during my epic September mega trip. Enter Unilocal, which gave me the location to Mai Thai and Phở Vietnamese and Thai restaurant, which was about ½ mile drive from where I was staying. I thought I’d score and not have to drive a longer way to get Thai cuisine. Mai Thai & Phở was your basic quintessential mom and pop restaurant, which caters to the community of Renton and the surrounding areas of Seattle. You can’t go wrong with Thai or Vietnamese cuisine here. The restaurant itself was rather small, but large enough to where you can have a party of 100 people and make it look pretty epic. On this visit to Mai Thai and Phở, it was close to closing time, and I just happened to arrive about 10 minutes before that. I wanted to have take out and they happily took my order, while a few tables were occupied when I got there. The overall experience here was a good, friendly, and positive one, even though ordering take out. It was a quiet night in Renton and me being a Thai junkie too. It wasn’t busy at all, since it was near closing time. It was nice to have the restaurant next to a 7-Eleven, so I could go over there and get booze or drinks to compliment my Thai dinner. Mai Thai & Phở Vietnamese and Thai restaurant is located 1250SW43rd Street in Renton, WA. It’s a nice stretch of neighborhood that’s more or less like a residential sub-suburb of Renton. They accept credit cards, so that’s always a great thing. The menu here is quite extensive, but is limiting due to the clash of cuisines, even though the two countries are pretty much side by side. The prices here are pretty good and reasonable, as far as Thai food goes. Most of the entrees here are averaging $ 10+ and all of them seem very tasty and delicious. For me, I ordered the Phad Himmapaln with beef, which came with an order of white rice. I also had ordered an order of shrimp rice rolls, which I thought were 2 rolls, but in actuality, came out to 4, so that was kind of cool. The entrée itself was pretty good, since i kind of ordered it kind of spicy, which ended up well. The mixture of the rice and the Phad Himmapaln seemed to be the perfect eclectic mix of soul food and comfort that I really needed during my stay in Renton /Seattle. The entire meal went surprisingly well, although I didn’t eat the shrimp rice rolls with the Phad Himmapaln, but as breakfast the next morning. Pretty cool. The service was quite good, since it was a mom and pop operation, it puts a nice touch on the ever evolving restaurant biz. While this experience was just take out, I’d like to return sometime and partake in the other dishes they have sometime. Like all the other reviews have stated here on Unilocal, definitely noteworthy to check out and wholeheartedly recommended for your next Thai fix. They do serve Phở here too, but I’ve already had my Phở fix for my #50statesPho back in May. Support local! B+

Food is delicious and plentiful. The staff is friendly. On the corner of nowhere in Renton but definitely glad we stopped here to eat! This place taste very authentic. Most spice spreads, spice toppings, and dips are made in house. Definitely a diamond in the rough. But me its far. so we will probably not be back unless we’re in the area but if your going to Renton IKEA, then this place is less than 3 mins away from IKEA and a great place to go for lunch and dinner!

Came here for lunch and got fresh spring rolls and pad Thai with chicken. Spring rolls we’re good, pad Thai was ok. I was hoping for spicy but got so so. Oh well. Service was great, people were friendly. I’d come back to try something different. I didn’t have a menu on me for my to go order so I defaulted to what would be popular. I’m hopeful for the next visit.

My wife was born in Bangkok and this is what she says: «Som tum was pretty authentic. The Mu Yang was cooked well and flavorful. The kai yang was solid and seasoned well as well juicy. Our daughter enjoyed the Rad Na but not too authentic. Overall a good experience, would return for the som tum with mu yang and sticky rice.» Our daughter mostly enjoyed the friendly and personable owners/waitstaff!!!
