4 Stars for the food– I always get the bbq beef, it never fails. sometimes with a side of spam musubi. They’re mac salad is to die for!!! 0 stars for the customer service– We’ve gone here on and off for the last 3 years but about a year ago they hired this tall guy who works at the cashier.(not sure what his name is) Almost every single time my friends or I have come here he seems like he’s in a very bad mood and does not wan to be there. I remember making an adjustment to my order before it was finalized and he gave me the worst attitude and when i left the counter, continued to talk about us to his co-worker. So now we just order pick up to avoid as much interaction with this gentlemen. I would hate my family owned restaurant to be ran by someone who could care less about costumer service.

Seating is extremely limited. Out of most of the L&L locations this place probably does the best job of hitting the taste of back home on the head. Prices are a bit overpriced but that’s to be expected considering people are looking for a taste of HI, they may also be looking for a taste of prices in HI.

The customer service was so terrible I almost laughed. After all, it’s just chicken and rice…, but I’d chalk it up to one of the worst CS experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered food to-go. When I arrived the place was completely empty which didn’t surprise me. Her attitude alone would clear out a room. If her head doesn’t explode from anger in the next couple of days and she continues to work there, I’d assign her on tasks away from the general public, like cleaning bathrooms or hauling garbage. Truly disgraceful service. I’d be ashamed to have her on my team. Attitude adjustment for Maleah PLEASE! The food was ok, a solid 3 stars, but having such rude service made me wish there was a(–4) star option. If I’m craving Hawaiian again(which is often), I’ll drive a little farther out and eat at Saimin Says.

If you have been to an L&L in Hawaii, you basically can’t get no bettah. The macaroni salad is bomb, spam musabi on point, I don’t know what else you can ask for. This is exactly the style that you’ll find on any of the islands. That being said, don’t expect anything fancy. It’s all basic and delicious, no frills, therefore authentic. Anytime I need my fix, I definitely come here since it’s one of the few in Washington. Thankfully it’s not a terrible drive from home and they have parking.

I had the chicken katsu for lunch the other day it was cooked just right and the serving size was huge enough for two meals. I also got a side of the curry sauce to try and it was OK not worth getting again. The Katsu sauce was much better. I would eat hear again.

I was introduced to this place some time this year by my coworker, and I have been coming here a lot for my musubis craving. They offered 4 different kinds, Spam, Chicken Katsu, Chicken Teriyaki and Portuguese Sausage. I usually get the musubis trio with Spam, Katsu and Teriyaki, is only like a little under $ 14 for 6 musubis. They are delicious, the katsu is crunchy and the sauce the musubis accompany with makes the musubis taste a lot better. I like to call ahead of time to order so I don’t have to wait too long. They do tend to get busy around lunch time so thats my advice to ya. One rainy day in Seattle, I called and ordered and for whatever reason, I accidentally ordered 6 spam musubis instead of the assortment. But the gentleman behind the counter was really nice and immediately offered to re-make t for me. The guy in the kitchen though, was a totally different story. He was giving me an evil glare and looked upset when the counter dude offered to remake it. I didn’t think much of it until after I got home. The whole drive home, I was writing mentally this review, planning to give them 5 stars for going above and beyond for a customer’s mistake. When I got home though, that happiness sorta vanished. The chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu was half the size smaller than the rice and seaweed. Usually the chicken would be as long as the rice, but this time, it was half the size with no sauce. It still tasted okay but the proportion were way off on the chicken musubis. So I am dropping a star. I’ve came here numerous times before that and never had this happened before. But since I made the mistake, this guy is like punishing me.

It’s kinda hard to look for a really good authentic Hawaiian food in the Renton area. But I think this place may be the closest thing there is to having authentic Hawaiian food. I have never been to Hawaii myself so getting Hawaiian food gives me that satisfaction whenever I think about wanting to go visit Hawaii one day. But anyhow, I like this place! The first time I walked into this place, I was quite excited because it smelled so good from the moment we opened the door since the kitchen is literally behind the counter. I remember ordering the chicken katsu and the spam musubi. First of all, the chicken katsu was good! I’ve had a lot of chicken katsu before where the chicken is dry and tough but in their case, it was actually tender and juicy… so that’s a plus! The spam musubi was OKAY. The spam to rice ratio wasn’t good enough for me. I feel like there is too much rice and not enough spam. Also, I ordered the spam musubi a couple weeks ago and the spam didn’t even taste like actual spam now. It tasted like some other luncheon meat instead of the actual spam in a can! Other than that, I still like this place! I’ve also had Hawaiian food in California before where I ordered chicken katsu and it wasn’t as good as their chicken katsu from this place. I also love their mac salad! It’s definitely a big treat in a small package(no pun intended). I also like their katsu curry! And the fact that you can do half order or full order depending on how much you can eat or how hungry you are that day. Whenever I crave for Hawaiian food once again, I will definitely come back here and get some! Not only is it close to where I live, it’s also the only place I know in the area where I can get Hawaiian food so that keeps me coming back for sure.

I come here regularly. The staff is friendly(however the guys serving the lunch hour during the week can try to act like they want to be there), the food is consistent and the place is clean. I’ve had local Hawaiian food at a lot of places. Of course, having it in Hawaii is always the best. However L&L provides a good selection of food options and they are consistent.

Just like Hawaii! We were on the Big Island in Feb, and this place originated there, I think. Very tasty food and fast service for lunch! I recommend!

The food was okay. The bbq mix plate was very salty. If it had been just one salty item it would of been okay, but all of the meat was salty. The loco moco was good except the meat patty is pre-made, unlike the other L&L I frequent where they make it by hand and add extra delicious spices. I had no complaints about the chicken katsu. The wait isn’t too long and the employees are very friendly.

I love L&L. I crave for them sometimes. This location has been very good so far, quick with their service and on point with the food expectations! They always fill up your to-go boxes which is a always a plus for me. I love their mashubis, loco moco, chicken katsu with curry, and especially their macaroni salad! Ohhh… that macaroni salad! So delish. There is lots of mayo, hints of tuna fish and pieces of carrots! I make it myself at home sometimes and I would put more tuna and cabbage in their just to make it a tad bit healthier! YUMMMS!

We always come here to get our Hawaiian food fix. It is not as authentic as you would get it on the islands, but it satisfies our cravings. My boyfriend usually gets the burger or loco moco and some musibi. I have been hooked on the chicken katsu bowl w/steamed vegetables only(no rice). It’s a special request but they always do it for me. The only recommendation I would have would be to plastic/shrink wrap the musubi. They put it in a styrofoam type container and sometimes when we take it to-go the musubi is broken up and all over the place. Other than that, it’s pretty fast food for a decent price. And most importably the people are always nice!

Pretty good when it comes to L&L’s. 7 hours later I’m still full. high on value as the portions are enormous. I had the curry chicken, which a small village in africa could split… Takes visa

BEST macaroni salad ever! I looked at the little cup of macaroni salad that came along with my combo and thought it didn’t look enough, but my meal was so big that I ended up not even finishing all of it… and I’m a big eater. Oh well, that means leftovers for me which I think will last me for another 2 meals or so seeing at how much meat I received, I could just cook more rice each time for it. I got #3, the BBQ combo where there’s a handful(or two) of rice, beef slices, beef short ribs, & chicken on a bed of cole slaw. You also get to choose a side of either fries or mac salad. I haven’t had other Hawaiian BBQ to compare, but boy this was goooooood. It is located in a little shopping area across from Walmart near downtown Renton.

Given a lot of food for what you paid, which is always a huge plus for me! Im a huge sucker from for meat, and this place has pretty good meat for what you paid. I paid almost $ 12 for a huge plate of rice, meat, and mac salad. It was so much food, I couldn’t even finish it, so it’ll definitely fill you up until your next meal. There are soo many choices to choose from, so you’ll find something you like. Service was great, although the wait was a little longer than expected. There are limited tables, so going during peak meal times may mean take out. Lots of parking too!

This place can satisfy my Hawaiian BBQ fix but it’s just not the best I’ve ever had. They have your typical Hawaiian dishes and I usually get the loco moco or chicken katsu and of course mac salad. I can’t say I’m in love with their food but like I said they fulfill my cravings! It’s one of their chains so nothing about it is special. I do love how much rice and gravy/katsu sauce they give you! I always leave glutted with extra to take home with me so good thing all their food comes in a to go box! Lol Altogether, just an OK place to pick up some Hawaiian food/snacks/drinks but wouldn’t be my first choice!

I am SO glad they have mini portions here! I think a mini is the perfect size for me, and I’m a big eater! They have all the usual items you would find at Hawaiian BBQ and I like that there’s pictures on the wall if this is your first time here. The flavor is standard, not overly salty or special. Just a staple, chain restaurant. The place is pretty small and everything comes out in a togo box. My only major complaint is that EVERYTHING comes out in a togo box and they don’t even have real silverware. Have you tried eating short ribs with a plastic fork/knife? It’s not very earth friendly and kind of wasteful.

My friends were craving Hawaiian food so we decided to stop here. I was starving so I thought a ‘mini’ would be too small, but I only ended up not even eating half of the ‘regular’ size bbq chicken meal. They have HUGE portions! Even my friends with big appetites were stuffed. The service was very prompt and our food came out very fast. The place could use a little cleaning because a lot of the tables had sticky gunk on them still. The food however was very average, a bit disappointing and usually when I’m hungry food is delicious to me. Maybe it was because I’ve had really good Hawaiian food in the past, it wasn’t all that great. The majority of my chicken was all fat and it was so greasy to the point where it made me feel sick. The macaroni salad was so heavy and had too much mayo I couldn’t even take more than two bites. My boyfriend ordered a beef bowl and it was SO salty and the whole thing was drenched with thick teriyaki sauce. My other friends ordered the loco moco, bbq ribs and spam musubi and said the food was«alright». My friends said the l&l up in Lynnwood was better. I’m hoping we just went on a bad day because it wasn’t a very satisfying experience for me.

I got the mixed BBQ plate and the Katsu musubi. The Katsu musubi was great! It was my first time having musubi other than spam and I felt like it went well together. The nori was crispy and the Katsu was fresh. Everything made for a good texture and flavor combo. Not too salty either! My issue was that the beef in the BBQ plate was way too salty! The saltiness took away from the sauce and was too overwhelming. The chicken was much better though, less salty and better flavors. I would recommend getting the chicken plate if given a choice again. The best part is the portions are huge for just around $ 10. The meat has lasted me for almost 3 meals already. Although I do feel the cholesterol and fat running through my arteries right about now.

Gross! I love Hawaiian food and its simplicity makes it hard to screw up. I have eaten at this L&L chain in Maui so I was familiar of the menu. This location in Renton is in a semi dingy location but not so off putting that I am turning heels. I ordered a 2 meat plate with Katsu Chicken and BBQ chicken. The Katsu was ok and rice was good. The BBQ chicken was flat out horrible I have never seen chicken prepared this way as a fatty pulverized overcooked mess. The really sad part is the Mac salad which is super hard to screw up was BAD with a barnyard aftertaste. I am not sure if something was spoiled or if it was old but I threw all the BBQ Chicken and mac salad away. Yeah I usually write a semi negative review after I have visited twice but I really don’t want to return.
