Had a great time on my recent Groupon — 3-hour kayak tour with Milkshake. The most beautiful day ever, and fun people to hang out with. A great way to spend a portion of a day outside, and the Groupon makes it completely affordable for everyone. Minus one star for a lack of instruction on basic things, like how to paddle properly. Otherwise, great time!

Fun in the clouds! So I bought a Groupon for a 3-hour kayak tour around Lake Washington and at the end they provided a free milk shake! The tour was great! I like being outdoors and being that it was cloudy it was perfect!!! My tour guide could’ve been a bit more informative in regards to the area and what Lake Washington had to offer. A bit of history lesson wouldn’t hurt. The tour for the most part was only 2.5 hours long. Our tour guide informed us he had to store the kayaks which took approximately 30 minutes — taking 30 minutes away from our 3-hour stated tour. For the most part, I was just happy to be out in the water. It reminded me of my time with a dragon boat team back in Phoenix, Arizona. I miss the water and it has motivated me to look into places around town for kayak rentals — which they do by the way: for a single it’s $ 16 to rent and $ 8/hr — don’t quote me on that, check out their website for accuracy. Enjoy!

«Don’t sit at the end of the runway! Jets can KILL!» Well alrighty, good to know! This is a fair warning, as at this Cascade Canoe & Kayak Center, you can actually rent a lake-fairing vessel and paddle to the end of a runway, right where jets do take off. This location is nestled between the Renton airport and Boeing field, at the south end of Lake Washington in Renton. From here you can paddle your way over to the Bellevue side of the lake, up to Mercer Island, or over to the South Lake neighborhood-but take care to steer well away from the runway. The equipment was in good condition, the staff was friendly and informative, and the goose poop on the dock was plentiful.(And the staff kept it as clean as possible, in between our launch and our return, they had cleaned off the dock). Prices seemed very fair; I’m not much of a kayak renter, but folks who are were impressed with the cost.
