We went to the wet hen for breakfast this morning. We had never been but I have followed them on Facebook and it looked good. Usually when we try new places it ends up dissapointing us, but not in this case! My husband who is very picky was very pleased with his meal and so was I. We will def be back and it’s much better than pegs or squeeze in, you need to try them out!

Today was the first time I tried this café. Everything was outstanding and I cannot wait to come back. Most sandwich shops anymore have fake turkey but not here. Their gobbler sandwich had fresh turkey, fresh bread, fresh cranberry sauce and was delicious. I had their strawberry chicken salad which was phenomenal. To top it off their homemade cookies are to die for. By 1130 the line was out the door which is definitely a sign that they are doing something right. Good job.

I adore this place. Good food, reasonably priced and the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie was delicious. I will be returning.

This place is amazing!!! Best customer service I have ever received. These guys are so friendly and sincere and it’s so obvious that they love what they do. And of course the food was just absolutely delicious. I got Parisian omelette and it was stuffed with bacon and avocado and cheddar. I definitely recommend coming here and they’ve made a customer for life.

Wet Hen is a cute little café you probably wouldn’t even know was there if you weren’t looking for it. But look past the kitsch that seems like it would be completely comfortable at an old lady’s garage sale and you’ll find a really excellent café serving up some fresh, delicious food. It’s not a full-service restaurant, so order your food and then find a seat. I ordered the quiche lorraine and a caesar salad, and took a seat outside on the small patio. Our server was prompt and friendly when she brought the food out, and checked on us at least once more before we left. It sounds silly, but it’s nice that they have a soda machine. For diet coke addicts like me, paying $ 1.50 for a can just won’t do it but I know that a lot of smaller places don’t like the headache and maintenance that comes with the machine… so, props to them. The quiche was delicious – a lot of times they are overcooked and the egg becomes tough, but this egg was cooked to a cream, delicate perfection. The crust was not spectacular, but not bad either. Dressing for the caesar was served on the side, which can be a little annoying, but the dressing was flavorful and the lettuce was crisp. Oh! And they give you a cookie! Wet Hen is definitely a place I’d consider for a small, quiet lunch, and while they may not end up on my regular rotation of places it will definitely be a place I keep in the back of my mind.

A warm, country style dining room, and plenty of hens everywhere! You stand in line to order, and then find a seat. The food came out quickly, and was pretty tasty. I had the slice of Quiche Lorraine, and the Crepes, with Apple Compote. Sweet lady of mine got the Wet Hen Benedict. She liked the touch of basil in the Hollandaise. She also had the mocha, which she said was more just coffee, and not as much mocha tasting. Overall, good experience. We weren’t blown away by the taste of anything necessarily. We did eat every bite though. They had great service. Stop in for a bite. Their menu seems have a French influence. They have baked goodies as well.

I’ve always liked this place. It’s homey and the owner(I guess he’s the owner) has always been nice. The food is not spectacular, but it’s always better than average. Today’s visit though left a bitter taste in my mouth. All because of a lousy server. I believe it’s the first time I’ve seen her there. She was cold and condescending. I got the feeling she didn’t want to be there, and she tried to do as little as possible. Mind you, they’re not even a ‘full-service’ restaurant. You order your meal at the counter and the servers just had to take the dishes to your table. Yes, they were busy, but I’m sure the owners prefer the place to be, wouldn’t they? Anyways, all we wanted were a tin foil(instead of styrofoam) and some packets of sugar(which should have been on the table in the first place). As for the tin foil, she looked confused and annoyed that we didn’t want the styrofoam and acted like we had asked for a huge favor for asking for tin foil instead. As for the sugar packets, I ordered coffee, and our table just happened to be the only one that didn’t have one of those little sugar packets holder thingees. So when I asked for one, she brought it to our table alright, but not without telling me that for future reference, the sugar are found on that corner(pointing it out to me), clearly implying that I could go get them myself. Now, look… clearly, I don’t mind getting the damn sugar myself, but at the same time, the sever is already on her feet and those things are supposed to be in the table to begin with, and most of all, I don’t need the stinking attitude. Whatever happened to customer service?! I’m not asking for a lot — just a pleasant disposition and at the very least, the willingness to pretend you would like to ensure I have an enjoyable dining experience. I could easily find another establishment where the food and price are comparable. The service is the tie breaker. For that reason, I don’t think I’ll be back here anytime soon.

After a long morning caucus meeting we decided we need some sustenance and fast. Wet Hen was on our way home so we made a bee line to them and I must say they did not disappoint. The Café is decorated in a collection of kitsch that isn’t overdone and works to create a homey feeling. Big windows let in light creating a warm and inviting ambiance. You place your order at the counter at the back of the restaurant that also has the bakery case displaying tempting goodies. The Menu Boards list a wide variety of choices, including eggs pretty much anyway you would like them with a choice of sides, quiches, salads, sandwiches and soups. Once your order is placed you are given a number for your table and the service is fast and friendly, I decided on a Denver Omelet and requested sliced tomatoes in place of the potatoes. No problem substituting. The omelet was light and fluffy, chocked full of ham, green peppers and onions. The rye toast that accompanied my omelet was of the rye/pumpernickel variety. Not my most favorite but not so bad. My husband settled on the Pig, Pancakes & Eggs, that comes with 2 Pieces of Bacon, 1 Sausage Patty, 2 Eggs and 2 Pancakes. He ordered his eggs over easy and they were perfectly done. I managed to get a bite of the pancake and the bacon and both were very good, as was a taste of the glass of orange juice he ordered. If the orange juice wasn’t fresh squeezed it was certainly a very good brand of pre made. My coffee was also excellent. You can refill your coffee to your hearts content from the self serve coffee bar station to the left of the counter. Another plus is condiments are on each table so you don’t have to scrounge around for tabasco or catsup. I noted that many people who had been at our meeting were also coming in too dine and though it was very close to their closing time their doors stayed open and everyone was made to feel welcome. That’s smart business. If you happen to be in the vicinity of McCarran and Longley Lane, Wet Hen is a great choice for breakfast or lunch. They certainly filled the bill for us today.

Scrumptious food… so yummy! Love the Monet sandwich and their baked goods. I come here whenever I’m over at the Red Cross building taking classes or helping out. All their food is made there to order and lots of it from scratch and local ingredients. I grew up in a French restaurant and my dad is a retired chef and I just love walking in here and the décor reminds me a bit of a farm in France and it has that family atmosphere too. One day I was there eating and I noticed a picture of my folks on the wall and that made me smile. The owners and employees are friendly and Reno needs more local mom and pop type places like this instead of all the chain places.

Wet Hen Café is a cute little spot that I’ve been to three times now. The staff is all quite friendly and helpful, and the menu has a smattering breakfast and lunch options as well as espresso drinks. I came here today because I remembered they had quiche, I’m always on the lookout for a good quiche and I was in the area. I ordered their Quiche Lorraine. As quiches go, it started out pretty good. Nice texture, good ingredients… But the crust had that distinct flavor of freezer burn. Not sure how to describe it, but I know it when I taste it. What’s the flavor of freezer burn? Anyway… then I ordered soup. Their potato leek soup is fantastic. It tastes fresh and hearty. I generally go to cafes to study or read. They said they had wifi. The first time I went there, the internet hadn’t been working at all. When I went to ask them about it, they said they would go reset the router. Then it worked. The second time, it was on and off. This third time I had internet at first, it stopped working, and then came back and worked the rest of the time. Not sure if they always have this problem, but at least it’s consistently inconsistent. This time I came in around 10:00, hoping to sit and relax for a while, sip a drink and study. It was a bit busy, but acceptable. But by 11:30 the place was already filling up. I felt like I was taking up valuable space for their limited number of tables in my little spot in the corner. Staff was very sweet about it, but I could tell they wanted me to leave too. I had opened a tab because I planned on getting another drink and a pastry later, but right around when it got busy, they brought me my check. But I can hardly fault a business for having too many happy, paying customers. They are obviously well liked. The previous times I came, I don’t recall what days of the week or exact times, but it started out not super busy but the restaurant became quite full as the meal went on. So, despite receiving my check, I decided to still get that sugar cookie while paying my check. Nevermind studying… Now, the cookie was very cute. It started out good. But holy moly– I kept coming upon patches of almond extract, possibly not very well mixed or something. Yikes. I couple of times while eating it I actually wondered if that was what cyanide tasted like– it was SOOOO strong. So: don’t come if you want to sit and relax very long, don’t come if you want reliable internet, but do come for a quick breakfast or lunch with a friend, preferably between normal meal hours. They had some cute kids meal options. The little boy at the table next to me had a pancake shaped like an elephant(I believe).

I love the fact that the teenager is now starting to use Unilocal. He wanted brunch/breakfast food so I handed him my phone and told him to open up the app. He chose Wet Hen… and he got to experience first-hand the awesomeness that is Unilocal! When we first walked in, I was worried because it is a small place and almost every table was full. I was not in the mood to wait yesterday… but we didn’t have to. Went up to the counter and ordered. I ordered the Favorite– Quiche– Feta, spinach and cranberries and son ordered a breakfast sandwich. Seating was tight but as my son said… gives it the café feel(I know he is wise beyond his years) and he was right. The space feels very intimate and comfy, and reminds me of a place I would find in a small southern town. Friendly and engaging service is definitely part of the charm. Food arrived quickly to our table and it was delicious! My quiche had a light buttery crust– not too heavy and not too light. The flavors of the cranberries complimented the spinach and feta perfectly. The teenager put down his phone to eat… so you know it has to be tasty! We took home a piece of pie for dinner… so good! Perfect find for a breakfast option in Reno!

I went in on a cold day looking for some warm comfort food. They have a ton of gluten free options which is great. I had a quiche and bowl of soup. Both were beyond delicious. And it’s super affordable. The only sad thing, is that everyone likes them so much, there’s usually not a lot of places to sit. They’re so busy! Which is great for them. And they will do to go orders, so this time I brought my lunch back to the office. Yum, Yum!

I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch and he lives near Mira Loma. He just got out of the hospital and did not want to drive far. So i put my thinking cap on, which most of the does not help, and came up with that place I drive by alot but forget the name. Ah, the Wet Hen. A very small restaurant with seating both inside and out. The seating indoors is always packed for lunch, so we found a table in the shade. The restaurant is impeccably clean, almost spotless. The decorations that adorn the walls are very homey. The service was excellent. You order at the counter and they bring your meal to you. One thing i like is they have a soda machine with free refills. If it is your first time checking in use the free soda coupon. I ordered the Conquest sandwich. The sandwich is served on grilled bread with a heaping of roast beef, onions mild chiles and melted cheese. Served with every sandwich is a homemade cookie. Yum, dessert. So i guess i can justify eating the conquest, it sounds like you are getting excerise, climbing, biking, etc. Yeah I know keep dreaming. Well I definitely will be back for more exercise to tackle the conquest

Had an awesome lunch with my lady friend this afternoon. I had the gobbler sandwich, and it was very good, fresh roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, avacodo, cheese all on a Dutch crunch roll. My friend enjoyed a tuna sandwich on wheat bread, also very good. Service and atmostshere are excellant. Fast friendly service. I have also enjoyed breakfast there a while back. Well certainly eat there again soon.
