Just did the first basic class. So amazing and in depth. You definitely do learn a lot and it’s not a boring«basic» class either. You learn and then the fun happens! Haha Vicki and Carol are two of the most amazing, helpful, and very relatable instructors!!! Any woman, and really, anybody should take this class! And don’t stop the learning. Go to more! Had a blast, can’t wait to do the pistol fundamentals next.

I don’t know what I would of done without these gals! When I first came to the Women’s Shooting Academy, I was a bit apprehensive about guns. I never thought that I could do it. But low and behold, I did it! They were will me every step of the way. From learning about all aspects of the different types of guns, to ammunition, target practice, liability issues, home defense, etc. I started with the Intro to Handguns, then off I went to Practical Pistol Fundaments. I have also taken and completed the CCW class. Once I purchased my guns, I also took their Introduction to Gun Cleaning and Maintenance and Holster class. I am looking forward to taking the Intro To Tactics class soon. Thanks to both Vicki and Carol for helping me learn how to protect myself and my family.

I have taken several classes with the Women’s Shooting Academy. One in San Rafael, CA, the others in Reno, NV. The instructors, especially Alicia, have been fantastic. She is an inspiration and is clearly proficient in gun handling, applicable gun laws and is very patient in helping the women learn to shoot safely. The Founder, Vicki, is passionate about enabling women to protect themselves at all times. Each class builds my knowledge of safety, laws and my ability to shoot with confidence. I look forward to continuing my training. If possible, I would give 10 stars!

I have taken two classes now with the WSA, and am eagerly awaiting my next class! I came to the first«intro to hand guns» class petrified and a complete noobie to guns. Needed some self defense for traveling by RV or never would’ve been in the class. The class was excellent; the two instructors were excellent; the practice time was excellent. This was the case in the 2nd class, too! So you see why I give 5 stars. The classes are mostly women, but there was a husband/wife team in the second class i took. Not intimidating at all. I highly recommend this organization and all the good classes and community outreach they provide. Any woman wanting to become knowledgeable and comfortable with handguns — for whatever reason — should contact WSA in Reno. They are great!

Where do I even begin?! I actually found out about the Women’s Shooting Academy through one of their instructors that I had met at work. She was wonderful and gave me a number to call. Few weeks later I called and spoke to Vicki. Normally when you reach the owner of a business, they typically are very rushed to get you off the phone, but Vicki was the opposite. She was wonderful and took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions! That was clue #1 as to how great this place was going to be. I next got in contact with Carol, who was equally as passionate and nice as Vicki. She helped to set me up in the class I needed to be in and was also my instructor(along side her super knowledgeable husband) the day of my class. I had a little bit of experience handling firearms before this class, but holy smokes, the amount of knowledge I got out of this course was amazing!!! They are real and to the point, but have a great way of making even the newest of people feel comfortable and confident! When I was done with class, I was so excited to continue on that I immediately went home to try to figure out when I could sign up again. They’ve inspired me to practice, and I have been to the range every week since class. Despite my schedule being a little crazy, you can bet I will be signing up for many more classes to come. Thank you again to all the wonderful staff at the Women’s Shooting Academy!

Attended the 8 hr Women’s Intro to Handguns course. ½ the day is classroom instruction and ½ day at the shooting range. I arrived feeling nervous and a bit fearful but finished feeling tired but confident and wanting to learn more and improve my shooting skills. Class is relaxed and non-threatening. Taught by women-for women. Provides lots of info and handling of handguns while stressing safety. Instructor, Carol, is excellent. Looking forward to my next class.

An absolutely amazing group of women dedicated to women’s safety. It was a very comfortable environment and I never felt intimidated by any of the women in the 2 pistol classes I’ve taken. These ladies KNOW their weapons and you definitely feel part of their family when you are done with their class. Not only that, you gain so much knowledge and information and feel comfortable with your handgun after a day with them. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Not a fan. Found Vickie to be very abrasive and demeaning. Trying way to hard to be a «bad ass».

I was always intimidated to take gun safety courses simply because I knew in a room with male teachers and students, I wouldn’t feel comfortable to ask the questions I wanted to ask. I found The Women’s Shooting Academy through a class at Cabela’s and it has forever changed my life! Vicki and Carol are amazing teachers! I have never felt more comfortable in a class before. I took the Introduction To Handguns class and learned more in that few hours than I have in a lifetime(and I’m a country girl)! Going to the shooting range and having them stand by my side, I found my inner courage and will never look at life the same again! I can’t wait to take the next classes and finally get my CCW! Thanks WSA!
