The Commons Shopping Center

As others have mentioned, the parking SUCKS here. I have nearly been hit twice — once in front of the Starbucks and another time leaving the pita /​falafel place. Do yourself a favor, park in the central parking lot and not in the spots lining the perimeter of the shopping center. Everyone prowls those spots because they are closest to the stores but the easiest to have near-​misses due to blind angles. Ugh. Just walk an extra 10 steps and save yourself a car accident deductible.

Hands down this is the most poorly laid out shopping center I have ever gone to. The ONLY reason I go there is for the Total Wine store and PetSmart. We have been almost hit about ten times. The biggest problem is the main access from Virginia Street. Incoming traffic does not stop as that would cause a backup on the main highway. The cars trying to exit the lot get backed up and some don’t realize that the incoming traffic has the right of way. There is an exit to Virginia Street for the Courtyard Marriott, but you can only go south. A problem if you need to go the other direction on Virginia.
I’m with Kara — we really try to shop there during the off hours. Forget about at Christmas time. It is like driving in a demolition derby.
