Best Mexican food by far! Good service as well and very clean! I will be back! And for the person that said the salsa was a «little spicy» then go eat ketchup! Its salsa its supposed to be spicy! You should know that for some who use to live 7 miles away from the border…

Ever eat something at a restaurant that is so good you contemplate taking up a second job there just to find out how to make it??? This place is incredible!!! If you’ve never been to Tacos Jalisco and had their molcajete, first look yourself in the mirror and apologize, then get out to Lemmon valley and make it right! The«Armadillo» is REALLY good but if you want something a bit spicier, go for the«Cielo Mar Y Tierra».

This is from Monday. I was disappointed that Roberto’s was closed this morning so we drove out to Lemon Valley to enjoy a Mocajete from Tacos Jalisco. It was our first time their. We enjoyed the cheese fondue(not gonna butcher Spanish), my wife enjoyed some Steak Nachos and I got a Mocajete. I absolutely love them but it seems that due to my cold I wasn’t able to handle the spice level. The waitress stopped by and asked if everything was ok. I said«well I’m usually fine with spice but this one is kicking my butt». She apologized and said she should have warned me that it was the hottest one on there menu. She then said«let me go and get you one that has less spice». 10 min later a new one was brought to my table. After enjoying it, a couple glasses of really good Horchata(I’m a sucker for good Horchata) and a piece of flan we got our bill. She had removed the spicer Mocajete from my bill. I told her I didn’t mind paying for it and she said don’t worry bout it. It was a really nice gesture which she didn’t have to do. And yes her tip was really really good(regardless that she took it off the bill). I would go back to Tacos Jalisco for the food but the service was what won me as a customer for a long time to come.

Molcajete is so yummy. Has shrimp, beef and pork in a spicy sauce with nopalitos. Word to the wise — one dish can feed two. Never had it before and by far one of the Mexican dishes I have had. Also had the camarones ceviche mini tostadas… So good. They have a habanero salsa had the table that we dashed on them– made it even tastier… Will definitely go back to try their other dishes.

I may have gone on an off — night, but the only time I went here was with two other people and it took almost ANHOUR to get our food. Our orders were not complicated. And it was not that busy. There were maybe 7 or 8 other tables than us. However, more people came in as other tables were not getting their food for a while either. After we mentioned it to the server, she did apologize profusely and gave us a slight discount on the bill after we finally ate. And when we got the food after all that time, it wasn’t even that good! It was okay to say the most. We could tell that it was probably a kitchen problem and not a service problem, but still, no bueno!

Loved the restaurant décor, it was rustic and cozy and felt like the suegras house upon walking in. The hostesses and waitresses were all beautiful in their varied colored señorita tops and were attentive and patient(we brought the toddlers). The food portions were generous and fairly priced for the quality and Dios mio, the salsa was amazing and we found ourselves full on chips and salsa it was so good. We were very pleased with our experience and will most definitely be back.

This place has become a go-to for us. It’s hands-down our favorite Mexican restaurant and one of our favorite restaurants, period. We’re there at least a couple times a month. The service is great and the beer is cold. All the food we’ve had is wonderfully flavorful. It’s not your typical Americanized Mexican food. All the dishes have amazing flavor. We’ve had a wide sampling of items on their menu and have had nothing that wasn’t great! Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can’t go wrong here!

I honestly don’t get the awesome reviews this place gets. The food was OK, but certainly not stellar by any means. We started off with the obligatory bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa was good and fresh, a little spicy, and the chips were good, but as Anna noted, they were cold, and there weren’t that many of them. I ordered a cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco. What I got was a cheese enchilada and a shrimp taco. I don’t like shrimp, so I immediately pointed it out to our server, who said she thought I said shrimp. Don’t know how those sound the same, but whatever. Then she told me they don’t have shredded beef! How can any decent Mexican restaurant not have shredded beef??? I was really surprised. She told me they had kind of a chopped steak, so I said Ok to that. She was very gracious about it, and told my husband he could have the shrimp on my taco for his fajitas, so we rolled with it. The rice and beans were OK, but the rice was a little too«al dente» for my liking, with kind of an «off» taste, and the beans were weird, I don’t know, they had a strange taste I’ve never tasted before. My cheese enchilada had more enchilada than cheese, and all I could taste was a very heavy corn tortilla. My husband ordered the combo fajitas, which came with chicken, shrimp, and beef. He said the beef was very salty and chewey, the chicken was good, and the shrimp were overcooked. All in all, he said it was just OK. I told the server he wanted no beans, only rice, as he has an aversion to anything beany! She wrote it down, but of course, out comes his side plate with rice and beans! She took it away and brought him all rice, but served it without remembering our comment. I really wouldn’t make any special trip to try this place again. Our server was great, very nice, but the food just wasn’t worth what we paid, and they couldn’t keep our orders straight. To top it off, the parking lot is full of cigarette butts and toothpicks, very off putting when you arrive, and one of their ceiling fans was missing a shade, so the lights were extremely bright and glaring. It just seemed like they don’t pay attention to all the details, which was clear in our order. LIke I said, I don’t get the reviews. I grew up 7 miles from the Mexican border, so I DO know good Mexican food, and this just wasn’t it.

I now have a favorite Mexican food restaurant in town! I just wanted a couple tacos and not a big meal. A friend had recommended this restaurant, I was a little nervous driving out into the middle of Lemmon Valley, through gravel to get to the parking lot. I’m glad I drove out there! It’s worth it for sure. The restaurant was very clean on the inside. There were only 2 other customers in the restaurant, I hope they get enough business to stay open! I was served chips and salsa. My single complaint was the chips were cold(I know, it’s a silly gripe, but I love getting served hot chips). All I ordered were 2 a la carte tacos, but it was fantastic! I got a hard taco al pastor– it was super good, and there were some delicious carmalized onions and lots of fresh toppings. I also got the baja-style fish taco. Quite good too. And the tacos were large enough, I put the chips on the bottom of the plate and had some make-shift nachos once I was done with the tacos with all that fell out. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant in a second. Take the drive, super good.

My first visit here, I have passed by this place numerous times over the years. I decided to try it tonight. The service was very attentive and friendly. The live music was awesome! This place is family friendly. And the food was delicious! Getting the bill took a little while, but they were very apologetic about it. We definitely need to come back to this hidden gem!

They get 5 stars in my book! The reality was that the speed left something to be desired. But they owned it, apologized, and comped an entrée. I’m a firm believer that stuff happens but it’s how you handle it that matters. These are good people! We had ceviche, nachos, and a wet burrito. Everything was delicious. I asked for no onions on my burrito and they put the guacamole on the side because they knew it had onions in it and wanted to make sure I still enjoyed my meal. It’s little but appreciated. The ceviche was HUGE& delicious too! The waitress was extremely nice too. She was very attentive and kept checking in but without being overbearing. We were drinking a lot of water too and after the third refill she found 2 huge cups too which made us laugh. I’d definitely recommend this place. We sat inside but there were a ton of people outdoors. We will probably try that next time while it’s still warm.

I really only ended up here at Tacos Jalisco, way up north of Reno in Lemmon Valley, because a Unilocal friend of mine in Reno knew I was a fan of beef ribs and heard from a friend that beef ribs were served here that were really good. Normally I’m not too much of a fan of Mexican restaurants, other than the«get down wit yo bad self» tacqurias in Oakland where you don’t go after dark. That’s the real deal there! Well, I found here at Tacos Jalisco, the real deal more than most Mexican restaurants serving numbered combination plates. What piqued my interest here, was the outdoor BBQed beef ribs served on weekends. What the deal is, is they serve a big meat filled combo platter of chicken, pork ribs, beef short ribs, and chorizo sausage all BBQed in an open mesquite wood fired pit out back. The price is $ 33.00 for enough food for 2 — 3 people. The meat comes with a Nopalas(cactus) salad, rice, beans and choice of corn or flour tortillas. It is a ton of tasty food! I picked up a female friend in Reno for my lunch date and we headed up to Lemmon Valley on 395. Seeing Taco Jalisco from the roadside might be a bit disconcerting, looking like a roadside cantina in Mexico including dirt lot overflow parking. It’s a pretty hot day and we didn’t decide on dining outdoors yet. Entering we are greeted right away. We want to see the outdoor area first. Going out the back door, we see a lovely and festively decorated large dining area and the open pit BBQ pit all smoking away. There’s plenty of shade out back so we decide to stay outside. The slight breeze makes it not feel so hot. Margaritas please, to start!($ 6.50) I just have to go over and check out this BBQ pit! Just approaching I can feel the intense heat coming off that sucker. The fire isn’t all that big either. Big skewers of meat are stuck vertically right into the ground roasting away. More meat, a half chicken, roasts on the grill. Wow, this looks wonderful! Back at the table our drinks have arrived. We must get the mixed grill deal for sure! But my friend spies on the menu, Chili Verde($ 14) her most fave Mexican dish. Well, shit, lets just get that too then, I say. Take home is what those boxes are for! Our super helpful server communicates well and is easy to understand with all our questions. We order all the food. While we sit there talking, the warmth outside is nice really, everybody else is sitting inside! This place really parties and is packed at night with live music. I feel like we’re in Mexico with the ambiance and fence enclosing the back area with the sage brush hills of Baja peeking over, along with the great smell of the BBQ and smoke drifting by, sipping Margaritas! Our food starts arriving, plate after plate! Rice, beans, nopalas salad, and the big platter of BBQed meats! Then the Chili Verde arrives too! I’m glad we have room to spread out! Our eyes are all bugged out looking at all the food. Pics now of course! We order Coco Loco Margaritas next, coconut and pineapple margaritas!($ 8.50) Every dish I try is amazing, beans are the real deal, cactus salad is tart and clean tasting, the rice is light and tasty as well. But the BBQ meats! It’s all piled up and I dig out the beef ribs I so anticipated. Well, they’re not the type or ribs I was expecting. I was thinking it would be the beef back ribs, the ones connected to the prime rib, big like dinosaur bones? No, these were the short ribs, cut thin ¼ inch slices, just like Korean short ribs. The slices you can see the cross sections of the big ribs. Hey, I’m here, I’m eatin’! Wow, holy wow! A mariachi band of flavors just exploded in my mouth! This is GOOD! The beef is marinated, as is all the BBQ meat in some really tasty stuff. I have no idea what! The meat is a bit chewy with some cartilage to work on, but that’s how it is when it’s authentic like this, not dumbed down for Americans. The salsa here, shit, this is the real deal! Spicy and flavorful at the same time. The pork ribs are great as well spiced so nice! The chicken was the least spicy, with a smoky flavor. The other star of our lunch was my friend’s Chili Verde, we shared. I never saw Chili Verde like that before, so smooth and velvety green sauce over generous chunks of pork. The chili verde reminded me of a velvety Thai curry, but not in flavor. I’d go back for this for sure! We sat and enjoyed our time here, even a third round to keep us content over our over 2 hr visit. Our bill was a little outrageous for 2 people, but that was our doing, order all this food and SIX drinks! Come on out to Tacos Jalisco Grill and Cantina! Do try the BBQ on weekends!

I really had high hopes for this place. Although the place looks authentic and the chips and salsa seem authentic, the food is okay. I expected the food to be awesome, but I was a little disappointed. I will go back and give them another shot in the future, but so far the food isn’t amazing. If I have a second visit like the first, I will probably not come back.

Finally North Valleys has an excellent restaurant to offer! So far excellent better than Miquels and Bertha Mirandas! The Fajitas, Burritos all the food are excellent and done to perfection. The have an outdoor patio with a mariachi contemporary band that made it pleasant and inviting. The staff and our waitress was warm and inviting and glad you where there. We will go back! ! They also have a fruit punch with tequila and different fruits in it. It is so delicious they serve it in a bowl kind of the reason I like to go there! I have been there numerous times me and my husband like to go once or twice a month!

May 5, 2015 Tuesday 6PM dinner 2 Adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 2 stars Service — 2 stars Background — Last minute decision to go out for dinner. My wife suggested Mexican, because it is Cinco de Mayo. This place popped into my head as it is somewhat near us. Atmosphere — Fairly large building but not many people in the place, I really expected it to be busier for the«holiday». Food Drinks — I ordered a Mexican beer that I never heard of. A few minutes later she came back to tell me they were out it. She rattled of the list including what was on tap, and I went Pacifico. It came with a small slice of lime half way out of the neck of the bottle and no glass. Appetizer — I think the only reason the free chips and salsa arrived was because we ordered a side of guacamole. This was the saddest looking guac I have ever seen. It was green, not even the right color green. Was there even any avocado in it? If there was it was so pureed I could not see it. I did see huge chucks of onion and other items. The free salsa was pure liquid, and the salsa did not want to stick to the chips. My Main Course — After we placed our order our waitress came back after about five minutes to tell me to they were out of Chili Colorado. She should have brought a menu with the delivery of bad news. I did not feel like dealing with the hassle asking for the menu and reading it again as I like most Mexican food items. I took our waitresses recommendation on the pork carnitas. The plate came with beans, rice and some dry pork with a side container holding three flour tortillas. The best part of the meal was the home made hot sauce, they had two, and I went with the red after sampling both. What was strange was the containers holding the sauces were both sitting together in a cold water bath with a few ice cubes floating. The pork was dry and needed the help of that hot sauce. It had a nice kick to it. Dessert — The free mint you get with your bill. Yeah I know it is one of those things that cost like a penny. But when you get that mint you expect mint or maybe on the rare occasion cinnamon. The wrapper label even said mint, but it was not mint, it tasted like a Piña colada. Gross. As candy it is fine but that is not the taste you want to help freshen your breath after a Mexican meal. Service — Really I get you are out of a beer but Chili Colorado, really?. Maybe they need to trim down the menu. The chips did not come until the gauc came, most Mexican restaurants that is there within a minute of you sitting down. Silverware did not come until half way through the sad guac which we did not finish. If you have the silverware wrapped nicely with the cloths napkin why don’t you have it on the table before hand, or bring the silverware as you sitting people at the table? Little things add up quickly. Future — When I started my review I started at three stars, I have talked myself into two stars. I do not see us coming anytime soon.

I was so hoping that we found a good Mexican place near our house. Well — sadly to report not so much. We sat down and ordered our drinks and I asked for guacamole with our chips. The guacamole arrived and it didn’t even look appetizing. The avocado was completely pureed and then mixed with a ton of watery salsa. It was basically green colored chunks of onion. My husband and I laughed because we were just talking about how it is hard to mess up guacamole. Wow, they sure messed it up. It was not tasty at all. I ordered the Vegetarian Burrito for my dinner. Well, it was a big burrito and that is about where the compliments for this dinner stop. It was supposed to have grilled veggies, rice, beans, and guacamole inside. If you are a person that enjoys very large chunks of raw green peppers and raw onions then this is your burrito. I however do not enjoy that. The veggies were not grilled and they were barely warm. The entire burrito was barely warm. A lack luster dinner to say the least. Service was slow and had a «couldn’t care» attitude. She did bring us napkin wrapped silverware, okay it was like 10 minutes after we had our chips and salsa and had to lick our fingers but hey they got to us eventually. It took a long time to get our dinner and then she did pop by once when we were done eating to see how things were. Less then impressed. Sadly, I do not think we will be returning again.

When we got there the parking lot was packed! So we parked in their dirt lot next to the restaurant. It looked like their was some guys setting up to play and sing. So we waited for water when we sat down. It would’ve been nice since their salsa was a bit spicy, but it was delicious. The food came eventually but we had plenty of chips and salsa to snack on. It was pretty good. Cow head was one of the meats on the menu so I picked that and al pastor. It was chewy, but it was good. They use pineapple in some of their meat mixture. It tasted great, but I wonder if they do that a lot? The band started singing and playing guitar and oh my was their voices amazing. I loved that! I would definitely go back.
